A Letter From the Elders at Lake Forest To the Church Family at Lake Forest, The year 2010 has come and gone and has brought about many changes here at Lake Forest. In 2010 we saw the addition of 2 new elders and 3 new deacons. We also had a major renovation to our auditorium, fellowship hall, and downstairs hallway. We added several new members to our congregation, and sadly lost a few along the way. However, a new year is upon us and so are many new blessings from God in 2011. As you know, each year we seek to set a theme for the year to help us focus in on the goals we wish to achieve. We have had some very meaningful and important themes in years past. 2004 Being A Caring Church 2005 O Worship the King 2006 Follow Me, And I Will Make You Become Fishers Of Men 2007 The Mind of Christ 2008 A.W.A.R.E. Always Watching For Anyone Who Requires Edification 2009 One By One 2010 Between The Sundays This year we have selected a new theme. However, we want to remind you that we intend to remember our themes from the past and build upon them. This is important for us if we are to continue to grow. Our theme for this year is Walking With Jesus. The verse we wish to focus on with our theme comes from Amos 3:3. It reads, Can two walk together, unless they are agreed? With our new theme, we want to focus upon our walk with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. When walking with someone, our thoughts, actions, and desires are in harmony with one another. We want each and every member to examine their thoughts, actions, and desires and see whether they are in harmony with Jesus Christ. It is our desire to serve our Lord in every way that we can. We feel that we will be most successful as a congregation in 2011 if we all are walking in unison with the will of Christ. We as your elders stand always ready to serve and help you in anyway that we can. Please do not hesitate to call upon us. May God s blessings be upon us all, The Elders
Our 2011 Theme Key Verse: Theme Explanation: This year s theme is Walking With Jesus. Our theme is centered on the idea of becoming closer to our Lord through our walk with Him in this life. To walk with someone means that you share in their thoughts, likes, actions, feelings, etc. It puts us in fellowship with that person. I John 1:7 says But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another Our key verse from Amos 3:3 implies that if two people are going to walk together they must be in agreement. We must be sure that our lives are in agreement with Christ if we are going to walk with Him. Some may turn from Jesus when they feel that what He asks of them is too difficult. That was the case in John 6:60-66. We must be sure that we are dedicated to Christ, to His cause, and to the same destination if we are truly going to walk with Him in 2011 and beyond.
