We live ut ur Visin and Missin thrugh the fllwing spiritual frmatin, educatin, missin and utreach pprtunities: After a prcess f prayerful discernment and cntinuus assessment, we believe the Hly Spirit has given us a visin and a missin that is fulfilled thrugh the varius ministries f First Cngregatinal Church f Tallmadge, UCC. Our church is a ministry driven church enlisting the services f ur members and supprted by the prgram staff and ffice staff. Individual church members take the lead in mst f ur areas f ministry. Presently they include: Spiritual Grwth and Develpment: Tw wrship services are ffered each Sunday mrning (8:30am and 10:00am) with the early service being shrter and mre casual, and the 10:00 service being mre traditinal. Between Memrial Day and Labr Day, a single (9:30am) service is ffered. Elder s Fellwship is recgnitin f the benefits and blessings f thse members and friends f ur cngregatin ver the age f 55. The grup is invlved in spiritual frmatin, end f life issues, and blessing ur cngregatin s missin and ministry. Stephen Ministry is a very active supprt f the pastral needs f ur cngregatin and wrks cllabratively with area Stephen Ministries as a 1:1 supprt ministry. Hearts in Service (H.I.S.) is a pastral care ministry that keeps the church cnnected t thse recvering frm a hspital stay, illness r being unable t get away frm hme thrugh phne cntact, cards and visits. Educatin: Fellwship: Life s Jurney Ministry prvides practical prgrams fr the aging. We have hsted educatinal prgrams n Veteran s Affairs benefits, retirement, estate planning, Living Will, etc. Yuth Christian Educatin fr ages 3 thru 12 th grade at the 9 clck hur, with Children s Church ffered during the secnd half f the 10:00 wrship service. Child care prvided fr infants and tddlers during bth wrship services. Cnfirmatin I class fr 8 th grade, Cnfirmatin II fr 9 th grade, with adult (lay) mentring prgram thrughut the cnfirmatin prcess. Cnfirmatin Class annual trip t Bstn t learn and explre Cngregatinal histry and sites. Chirs fr all ages, bth chral and handbell. Adult Bible study grups in varius frmats and a variety f schedules and duratins, including Lenten Bible study. Pst High Schl Fellwship study grup Yuth Fellwship is age specific and led by staff enlisting the supprt f laity. Our Middle Schl Yuth Fellwship is pen t yuth in Middle Schl and meets n Wednesday evenings during the schl year. The Senir High Yuth Fellwship meets n Sunday evenings and ther times f the week at the cnvenience f the yuth. Prayer Statins during Lenten seasn rganized by ur Cnfirmatin Classes. The Quilters grup gathers weekly t quilt and supprt the church s ministries thrugh fund raising effrts and service. Yarning fr Peace Prayer Shawl Ministry prvides prayer blankets/shawls t many wh are experiencing difficult times in life, as well as thse f all ages being baptized that they may be wrapped in Gd s lve. Wmen s Fellwship meeting in the daytime prvides needed services t the church thrugh hspitality and service. Wmen s Fellwship will frequently partner with Wmen s New Initiative fr prgramming. Wmen s New Initiative is eleven years ld and was funded t serve the spiritual and scial needs f ur wrking wmen. WNI meets in the evening and hsts timely prgrams as well as service pprtunities. Men s Ministry meets fr breakfast mnthly fr dialgue, prayer and service pprtunities. Advent Wrkshp fr all ages, prviding a multi-generatinal setting t prepare fr the birth f the Christ Child. Faith and Family is a scial and faith utreach prgram fr yung families that meets mnthly. Missin and Outreach: The annual Yuth Missin Trip has taken place every year since 1974 prviding teenagers the pprtunity t serve thers in varius areas f the United States. Sme years the adult members f the cngregatin travel and wrk with the yuth creating a multi-generatinal utreach. Rebuilding Tgether - a ministry f repairing hmes in the lcal area in cllabratin with ther churches and business in the Greater Cuyahga Valley. All Gd s Children is a supprt grup fr members and their families f the LGBT cmmunity. Warrirs Jurney Hme Ministry: Listen-Speak-Heal, is a grassrts ministry. Funded in ur church, it serves the spiritual needs and sul repair f ur veterans and their families and reaches ut t educate the wider cmmunity. Vacatin Bible Schl serves the spiritual needs f children f the cmmunity thrugh innvative and exciting study that is fun. The average attendance is between 80 and 110 children with a staff f 40. Miller Avenue UCC Missin in Akrn is supprted by First Cngregatinal Church f Tallmadge, UCC thrugh quarterly free lunch prgrams, after schl prgrams and financial supprt. The Alzheimer s Supprt ministry wrks in cnjunctin with the Alzheimer s Assciatin. The mnthly meetings prvide supprt and infrmatin fr thse living with r prviding care fr a persn with Alzheimer s, dementia, fr delirium. The Cllege Care prgram, sends packages cntaining snacks, gift cards, etc. t cllege students in the cngregatin (bth thse living at hme r away at schl) twice a year befre cllege final exams fr the semester, all items dnated by members f the cngregatin. The church is hme t A.A. grups, N.A. grups and Al-Ann. The church has several By and Girl Scut grups that meet weekly. Treehuse Preschl has an excellent reputatin f service t the families f Tallmadge and beynd. African Sky, is a charitable nn-prfit rganizatin wrking in Mali, West Africa. The Scial Actin Bard f Ministry crdinates the supprt f ur church thrugh financial dnatins, vlunteer service and supprting their annual Silent Auctin. Our church raised $10,000. T build an elementary schl in Mali. Breakfast with Santa is an event that is pen t church members and the wider cmmunity. The atrium f the church is transfrmed int a winter wnderland and welcmes all t breakfast, crafts, an individual visit with Santa, a gift frm Santa and pht pprtunities fr families. Family Prmise is a hmeless shelter fr families, hsted by the Akrn/Summit Cunty Area Churches. We partner with the Nrthwest Avenue Church f Christ in this utreach ministry. The church supprts Tallmadge Gd Neighbrs utreach, bth financially and in the Adpt-A-Family prgram during the hliday seasn. Faithful Servants Care Center in Tallmadge prvides free medical and health services t the uninsured. This prgram is staffed by vlunteer dctrs, nurses, chaplains and clerical wrkers.
