ALWAYS FUN PRESBYTERY OF WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA YOUTH COUNCIL why should YOU apply? When I was in 6th grade, I went to Camp Grier, a middle school retreat put on by the presbytery and led by PYC members. I remember within the first night I was already asking my pastor about how and when I could be like the high schoolers in the blue shirts leading everything. Ever since then, I counted down the years until I was a sophomore and could finally join PYC. I already knew I was going to enjoy it, but never did I think it would turn into the most amazing experience I've had. Through PYC, I've met some of my best friends and I've learned so much about myself and about God. Each year as we welcome new members and say goodbye to old ones, we become a family with an irresistible bond. I can't stress enough how amazing it has been. Whether you're an energetic open person or you're quiet and nervous around people, PYC is still the place to be. It will help you open up to others and learn how to be a strong leader. As our theme last year said, why wait? Do faith!! Join PYC before it's too late! Elizabeth Norvell PYC is an amazing opportunity to meet youth from around WNC and exchange ideas on how to spread the word with other. It's a lot of fun with great bonding activities that allows the group to grow close and and be a part of something amazing. It's nice to see how when we all come together and exchange ideas to then use at ALWAYS CHALLENGING retreats and rallies. We can inspire people and help them understand the Word and grow in their faith. I highly recommend anyone to apply and participate in PYC. Oscar Martinez Questions? Email Beth Gunn at beth.gunn@gmail.com Although I have only been on the Presbyterian Youth Council for one year, it has helped me to grow and change in so many ways. Before serving, I had never attended a single PYC event let alone led one, so all of this was pretty new to me. I used teamwork and leadership skills to help others grow in their faith as I grew in mine. I'm so thankful that I could serve for my senior year and I'm grateful for all of the amazing people I have met through PYC. My only regret is that I didn't join sooner! Makahla Stout Y-2 PYC has been an amazing experience. Through this leadership opportunity, I have gained many friends & learned exciting ways to experience & lead ministry. With training from our mentors as well as learning from my fellow PYC members I have improved my leadership skills. The leadership skills I have gained have given me many opportunities in other areas of my life. PYC is a fun way to find out how God is calling you to lead your fellow youth. Everyone should take the opportunity to be a part of such a fun learning experience. The friends & connections I have made through this incredible experience will stay with me forever.
