Associate Minister of Family Life General The Associate Minister of Family Life will: 1. Seek to grow steadily in the knowledge of God, His Word, and of the theology and application of the faith, specifically as it bears upon marriage, parenting, youth development, evangelism, and apologetics. 2. Preach and lead 2-3 services a month as arranged with the Senior Minister. 3. Focus on the spiritual and numerical building up of the younger end of the church. 4. Model the importance of family and of outreach-mindedness in and through the family as an example to the church and a benefit to the lost. 5. Meet with the Senior Minister weekly and/or as deemed necessary. 6. Attend, ex officio, the monthly meetings of the Education and Evangelism Committees, submitting reports of fulfilled duties pertaining to the life and outreach ministry of the families of the church, respectively. Ministry to Parents Under the immediate oversight of the Elder Board the Associate Minister of Family Life will: 1. Cultivate a climate of prayer among the parents of the church with a view to the ongoing discernment of God s will for family ministry in the church. 2. Discern with the parents the needs of the families of the church, reporting the findings to the Eldership for delegation to the relevant committee as and when appropriate. 3. Encourage the spiritual growth of the parents of the church by means of teaching opportunities, preaching, home visitations, counsel, and the supply of relevant educational resources.
4. Stimulate parental support for the junior high, senior high, and young adult programs and service opportunities of the church. Ministry to Youth and Young Adults The Associate Minister of Family Life will: 1. Serve as immediate support to the junior and senior high sponsors in their development, organization, and coordination of the junior and senior high activities and ministries. 2. Support the Sunday School/Catechism teachers and parents by mentoring the young people and young adults toward profession of faith and their niche in the service of the church. 3. Teach a weekly Sunday School class building mentoring relationships with the young members. 4. Liaise with the Women s Ministry Committee in the organization of mentoring relationships for the young women. 5. Develop activities and ministry for post high-school members of the church. 6. Recruit, train, and support a core group of leaders from among the young adults to be able to teach, and to plan social activities, special events, and service projects or mission trips. 7. Seek to shepherd senior highs, young adults, and young couples straying from the Lord. Ministry to the Community Predicated on the belief that all God s people are evangelists, the Associate Minister of Family Life will: 1. Look for opportunities in connection with the Evangelism Committee for evangelistic presentations within the life of the congregation (e.g. men s evangelistic breakfast; D3 outreach) as well as outside of it. 2. Participate in the Evangelism Committee s oversight of the reception, encouragement, education and initial development of incoming seekers, by means of the dissemination of information, Bible study groups, social networking, and the teaching of the Inquirers Class (as required).
3. Liaise with the Evangelism Committee to help develop, coordinate, and execute approved ideas for local outreach to the neighborhood and the city through the families of the church. 4. Help make known to the Evangelism Committee opportunities for personal or local evangelism or training therein, consonant with the church s philosophy of evangelism. Miscellaneous The Associate Minister may be called upon to: 1. Lead the monthly meeting of Seventh s Singles. 2. Represent the church in outside preaching and speaking engagements. General Expectations Commitment to the building of team morale, integrity, and congregational unity by: 1. Participation in technological back-ups and updates within the church office agreed by the Diaconate, Executive Committee, or Consistory. 2. The avoidance of misuse of the church s computers for immoral purposes. Those on the clock are also to avoid such activities as internet shopping, other than on formal breaks or out of hours. 3. Participation as requested in the advertising of the ministry of the church. Exceptions may be agreed by the Consistory upon formal request. 4. Involvement in the service of the church outside of regular hours of employment, consistent with the encouraged service of other members of the church.

Position Qualifications: The successful applicant will have a clear Christian testimony; a strong sense of ministry calling and desire, meeting the qualifications of the pastoral epistles; and enthusiastic about the church s mission and vision statements, and ecclesial and relational core values. The position is full time and open to ordained applicants or those seeking ordination. Ordained applicants will receive priority, but nonordained applicants possessing biblical wisdom, personality, and passion are invited to apply. The successful applicant will at a minimum be nearing completion of theological studies or possess theological understanding and life experiences sufficient to compensate, with certain gifts in teaching and presenting the gospel.
