Pentecost Pentecost, which means the 50th day, is one of the prominent feasts in the Christian liturgical year commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Disciples of Christ after the Resurrection. Pentecost is celebrated seven weeks (50 days) after Easter Sunday, hence its name. Pentecost is historically and symbolically related to the Jewish harvest festival of Shavuot, which commemorates God giving the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai fifty days after the Exodus. Pentecost celebrates the arrival of God s Word and His Spirit. Attire for Fresh Anointing Service (May 19, 8:00 AM & 10:30 AM) As we celebrate The Power Of One in our May 19 service, we will wear all white, which symbolizes the purity, holiness and sanctity of God. We are committing to holiness and are in anticipation of His glory! Fresh Anointing Seed Each person is asked to sow a seed of $50.00 during the May 19 service ($1.00 per day). These seeds are being sown towards the harvest that we are praying for in our families, government, schools, churches, and children. 6:30 AM Morning Prayer Call Join us Monday - Friday @ 559-726-1050 or 530-881-1050. The 50 Days to Pentecost: A Time of Consecration: Praying, Fasting & Feasting Let s follow the footsteps of the Apostles and take a look into how they praised God, loved people, and produced power during and after their journey on the Road to Pentecost. For forty days after His crucifixion, burial and resurrection, Jesus Christ spent time with the Apostles speaking with them about the Kingdom of God before He ascended to Heaven. Over the next ten days, 120 of His Followers gathered together and they agreed that they were in this for good, completely together in prayer (Acts 1:14, The Message Bible). On the 50 th day after Christ s resurrection, When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting (Acts 2:1-2). This tight-knit group of believers had an incredible encounter with the Holy Spirit because they were full of passion, fully committed and unified in their devotion to the Lord. They prayed together, they worshipped together, and together, they received power. Together, they witnessed. Together, they overcame every obstacle. As one, they gained greater strength. Unified, they increased exponentially. In solidarity, they impacted nations for years to come. This early church was characterized by signs and wonders. God constantly met their needs and the needs of those to whom they ministered. Miracles were common occurrences because they believed that God could do the impossible. Page 2

The Apostles and the Church loved people. They were not afraid to share their testimony so that others would come to know and believe in the Lord just as they had. Through their openness and transparency, multitudes were saved. The unusual power displayed in and through the lives of the believers gave them influence in the nations. They became a beacon of hope to those near and far. God used a small committed, unified band of 120 people to turn the world upside down! (See Acts 17:6). May our lives so reflect the power of Christ that we truly become His duplicates in the earth, as a visible manifestation of our invisible God. People are looking for Christ. May they find Him in us and may He use us to impact the world with His Resurrection Power. As we embark upon this 50 day journey, this devotional will be our road map and the Holy Spirit will be our guide. A Time of Consecration, Fasting & Feasting For Physical Health, Healing & Wholeness The Partial Fast This fast is typically known as The Daniel Fast (Daniel 10:3). This type of fast is not a total abstinence from food, but rather a restriction in the types of food eaten. For example, in this fast, one might refrain from eating meats and delicacies, but eat fruits and vegetables. The partial fast can also be accomplished by refraining from eating any food during specific hours. For example, one might eat nothing from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, but eat one meal during 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Page 3

PLEASE NOTE: Bishop Eddie L. Long and the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church advise all members and participants of this consecration to consider their personal health needs and to consult their personal physician prior to beginning this fast. Therefore, we specifically disclaim any responsibility from any physical reaction from this fast. 1. Therapy: If you are sick and in need of healing 2. Precaution: To keep you away from sicknesses and diseases. PREPARING TO FAST Background Scripture: Daniel 10: 1-13 Confess all sins that the Holy Spirit calls to your remembrance and accept God's forgiveness (1 John 1:9). Seek forgiveness from all whom you have offended, and forgive all who have hurt you (Mark 11:25; Luke 11:4; 17:3-4). Ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit according to His command in Ephesians 5:18 and His promise in 1 John 5:14, 15. Surrender your life fully to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Master; refuse to obey your worldly nature (Romans 12:1, 2). Meditate on the attributes of God, His love, sovereignty, power, wisdom, faithfulness, grace, compassion, and others (Psalm 48:9,10; 103:1-8, 11-13). Begin your time of fasting with prayer and an expectant heart (Hebrews 11:6). Page 4

EACH DAY Say Isaiah 58:8 out loud. Pray the Daily Prayer. Focus on the Daily Meditation. Say the Ending Prayer each day after the Meditation. Say the Affirmation as often as you wish. DAILY PRAYER Lord Jesus, You are the same yesterday, today and forever and nothing is too difficult for You! I present to You my physical ailments today asking for you to mightily intervene with Your healing Power. Please Lord Jesus, manifest Your Kingdom Power and replace sickness and disease with wholeness. Please send your Word and heal me Lord. Deliver me from every attack of the enemy seen and unseen. I declare that You died for my sins as well as my sicknesses. I give You praise even now, for touching my body and restoring me to good health. May You be glorified through my body as Your holy temple and I bless You and thank You for causing me to do well this year, even in my health. Now Lord, as I look into Your Word, I pray that you would give me an open heart, a clear mind to read, understand and receive Your Word as the final authority over my life. In Jesus Name. Amen. Page 5

WEEK 1 Each day, read out loud Isaiah 58:8 and pray the daily prayer before you begin to deal with the day s assigned reading and concentrations. Know that when you ask the Lord for healing, it is already His will, and He hears you and agrees. Day #1 Meditation: Read 1 John 1:5-10; Psalm 103:1-3 God s Forgiveness - Confess all sins and accept God s forgiveness. This is the prerequisite to your supernatural healing. You have to walk in forgiveness. Day #2 Meditation: Read 3 John 2 & Isaiah 53: 4-5 God Desires - He desires that we prosper and be in good health consequently, He has made provisions for our healing through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is The Great Physician...you must learn to trust Him and in His ability to heal, deliver and set free. Day #3 Meditation: Read Romans 12:1-8; Prov. 3:5 A Living Sacrifice - God wants to bring you to a place in your life of total dependence on Him. It s time to totally surrender. Surrender your life to Jesus Christ; refuse to obey your worldly nature and the instructions of the evil one. Page 6

Day #4 Meditation: Read Psalm 30:2; 107:19-20 Fervency in Prayer - God is faithful in answering prayers. Pray and believe...don t pray and doubt. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above and beyond whatever it is you are able to imagine. If you believe, you will see the Glory of God. Day #5 Meditation: Read Psalm 65 God s Providential Care - Everything you need has already been provided; just ask. Do not accept sickness as a normal part of your life. That was never a part of God s original intention for your life. You are made in His image and created in His likeness. He wants you to take on His character. Day #6 Meditation: Read 1 Tim. 2:1-8; Luke 17:11-19 Unselfish Prayer - Include others in your prayers. God is awesome; He can heal you and others at the same time. His desire is not just for you to walk in health and healing, but His desire is for all of those who belong to Him. Day #7 Meditation: Read Jeremiah 29:10-14; Matt. 4:23 God s Provincial Plan - The PLAN has already been made; follow God s healing plan for your life. When the world was first created, the Bible records that God saw everything that He had made and indeed it was very good (Gen. 1:31). Healing and health are parts of the plan; sicknesses and diseases are not. Page 7

WEEK 2 Each day this week, read the two selected texts before you repeat the Daily Prayer then go to the selected text to meditate and focus on. Know that God has already settled the issue of your healing in the atonement of the blood of Jesus Christ. Take time to meditate on the Word of God it brings healing and wholeness to spirit, soul and body. Day #8 Meditation: Read Jeremiah 30:17; 33:6, Exodus 23:25-26 God s Promise - God promises to restore health and peace to you. Walk in your complete healing. No Christian believer has to remain sick...healing is available...it s the believers bread...and the table for you is already spread. Day #9 Mediation: Read Psalm 103:1-22 God s Provision - Everything you need is found in God. Meditate on the attributes of God. In addition, to all that He is, He s Jehovah Rapha...your Healer...because healing is in the system! Day #10 Meditation: Read 2 Corinthians 10:1-6 Spiritual Power - You have a spiritual weapon and you ve been empowered to use it. Pull down and cast down anything in your life that is not from God. That includes sickness. Call in reinforcement if you have to (a believer/prayer warrior). There is power in agreement. Page 8

Day #11 Meditation: Read Isaiah 55:1-11, Prov. 4:20-22 There is a healing fountain flowing from God. Drink from the fountain of God. He has made you a promise and he won t go back on His Word. Day #12 Meditation; Read Jeremiah 8:22; Deut. 7:15 A Healing Balm - Is there a balm in Gilead? The Great Physician is ready to heal you of all sicknesses and diseases. He did it before and He will do it again. He s the same, yesterday, today and forever. Day #13 Meditation: Read Matthew 19:2-26; Jeremiah 32:17 God s Ability - Have confidence in God s ability to do what seems impossible. Nothing with God is impossible. With God, all things are possible. The issue is; can you and do you trust Him and His ability? Day #14 Meditation: Read 1 Galatians 3:13-14 God s Adoption - We have been redeemed from the bondage of sickness & diseases. We are Abraham s seed and heirs to the promise of God which includes healing. We have an inheritance...it includes healing for your soul, mind and body. Page 9

WEEK 3 As you conclude this final week of prayer, fasting and feasting on the word of God, begin celebrating your complete healing and the healing of all those persons you have prayed for over the last two weeks. Get into a real period of praise and thanksgiving. Before you get into the assigned areas for the day, begin by praying the printed prayer out loud. Remember: Praise is faith at work! Day #15 Meditation: Read Isaiah 53:1-5 He was wounded for our transgressions and by His stripes we are healed. Don t allow distractions to impact you. Stay focused in spite of felt symptoms. Let God do His perfect work...how and when He wants to but praise Him for your healing in the meantime. Day #16 Meditation: Read Job 5:26; 42:12, 17; Psalm 91:15-16 Receive long life as a part of your inheritance. Celebrate it and as you celebrate long life, know it is a promise from God as well. But let s expect long life along with good health. Day #17 Meditation: Read Hebrews 12:13 Refuse to allow what seems strong to over-power you God is not only a healer...he is a keeper. Let s believe God that when you receive your healing, you would never need healing in this area of your life again. God is a keeper. Page 10

Day #18 Meditation: Read Exodus 23:25-26; Deut. 7:11-12 Remember in the matter of healing, God is for us, not against us. God s heart is toward His people for healing, good health and wholeness. All these belong to you. Accept no compromise. Day #19 Meditation: Read Psalm 118:24; Phil. 4:4, 6 There is no illness that God cannot heal. You must believe that He has healed you of yours; so go ahead and give Him thanks. God is a healer and He is faithful. Take a moment out for a Praise-Break! Day #20 Meditation: Read Jeremiah 17:14; Psalm 103:1-3 Praise God for healing and restored health. What a mighty and a good God we serve; He is worthy of your praise! Your pain was purposeful. Now begin to make your praise, perpetual. Day #21 Meditation: Read Matthew 4:23; 8:17 There is no sickness or disease outside of God s power to heal. This is your day to accept your complete healing. Never mind if you still have symptoms. They will never second the motion. They will eventually come under subjection. Page 11

The Day After Read Exodus 15: 25-26 Learn to appreciate and celebrate good health which comes from God. Pray the printed prayer that you ve been praying for the last 21 days and spend at least 15 minutes in a period of praise and worship. Use recorded music if you have to. This is the day that the Lord has made...rejoice! AFFIRMATION (Say this as often as you chose during the 21 day period) I believe that God expects me to glorify Him physically, mentally, and emotionally. Therefore, I renew my vow to honor Him in every area of my life. I believe in Jehovah Raphe, which means God is my healer. I commit myself to healing and health and will fast and pray for it. I believe in the power of the blood of Jesus and in the strength of the name of Jesus. Therefore, I am fasting for good health (Healing of my body) and in God s strength and by God s grace, I can do this fast and be victorious. ENDING PRAYER Dear Lord God, I thank You for the wonderful opportunity to call on your Holy name. I am humbled that You would incline your ears to my prayer. Thank You Lord! I acknowledge that I was made in Your likeness and created in Your image consequently, I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I belong to You Oh Lord. In you I live, move and have my being. Today, I come in agreement with heaven and cancel sickness (name it if you know it) that is trying to attach itself to me. Since it s not mine, I will not cooperate Page 12

with it and I emphatically reject it and I will not allow these symptoms to operate against me to deter me from the purpose and plans you have for me. I repent of any disobedience; unforgiveness, bitterness and neglect that may have opened the door to this...attack and humbly and sincerely ask for your forgiveness. I fully accept that Jesus was wounded for my transgressions and was bruised for my iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon Him and with His stripes, I am healed. I apply the blood of Jesus to the root of this sickness and I release the measure of faith to receive my divine healing. I thank you Lord for every cell in my body to be whole and to operate to the maximum capacity free from any kind of disease all for the glory of God. Thank You for sending Your Word to heal me and to deliver me from all destructions. I thank You, I praise You and I Bless You for being the Almighty God that You are and I recommit myself to the service and work of Your Kingdom here on earth, in Jesus name...amen.
