SAI Humor "A young man in the interview room had the shoulder-length hair fashionable at the time. After teasing him for looking like a woman, Baba advised him to get it cut. 'Will You cut the first lock, Swami?', asked the young man adoringly. Baba shook His head in mock horror, 'I am Baba, not Barber!' He said. - By Group 4 Teacher People today repose their faith in the ephemeral and unreal world, and forget God who is the embodiment of truth. This is the root cause for all sorrows and difficulties faced by humanity. You say you are encountering difficulties. From where did they come? Difficulties are the consequences of one s past deeds and thoughts. Everything in this world is susceptible to change. God is the only changeless principle. What is human life for, after all? Is it merely for eating, drinking, sleeping and ultimately dying? In doing so, can the human life be termed as sacred? At the time of birth everyone is pure and sacred. As they grow old, they gradually lose this purity. This is improper! One must always maintain one s purity. Install the changeless and eternal God in the altar of your sacred heart and offer your love to Him. Thereby, you can experience bliss. This is the foremost duty of every human being. - Divine Discourse, Sep 27, 2006 Page 3 of 14 Love Lives by Giving and Forgiving Love 2014

Poems to Ponder Love - A Poem (By Group 4 Teacher) Childhood Walking down memory lane Remembering the monsoon rain Rushing out to dance and jump As I catch raindrops on my tongue Finally the monsoon has beat The blistering sun and sweltering heat. Deliriously happy, drenched in love (Outside the home and inside) But not knowing that rain is love. Young Adult The excitement of catching a glimpse Of the flash of orange in the distance One never knows does one? If His eyes will lock with mine today In my heart I hope and pray Is it greed to want it everyday? Thinking His love is only there In His eyes. Just a beginning awareness of Love's presence... Adult Now I sense His love in a serene morning And in the beauty of a flower blooming. In every eye I see love lurk Of family, friends and people at work. Love in the force of a hurricane In the gentleness of a drizzling rain. Water and food and air are love And so are the little puffy clouds above... Coddled with Love at every step, Yet unaware of its myriad forms, Just the dawning of an understanding That every one of my blessings (and what seems not to be a blessing), is Love. Stories of His Glories Swami s Advice on Love Swami often has said to be an embodiment of love, to live in love and to love all, serve all. But is that as easy as it sounds? There have been times in my life when it seems like being an embodiment of love is the hardest thing to do. I am angry or upset or stressed, and these violent emotions seem to trump all other sense of reason. It s easy to want to lash out at someone or something. But, as Swami says, love alone can reveal the divinity in all. For example, if I am ever very angry, I try to remember that anger isn t my natural state - love is. Anger just burns you from the inside and out - but love is like a soothing balm. When I choose to instead calm down and radiate love from within myself and to those around me, I find even my worst tempers disappear. Being loving isn t just something you do for the sake of others- it s also a matter of convenience for yourself. It s easier and better to do - so I always make it a point to try to be that embodiment of Love, for myself, for others, and for Swami. - Group 4 Student Story of Love: Vinuta R. (Group 1) Once upon a time a very loving kid went to Puttaparthi to see Baba. That boy asked Baba " Can you please give me love?" Then Baba told the boy "You are such a good boy and so divine". Baba gave him so much love. The boy thanked Baba. He shared his love with his family and friends. The boy felt so happy and felt so much love and kept sharing. This summer my parents and I went to Switzerland and had the opportunity to visit the Geneva Sathya Sai Center. On Thursday August 14th, we attended bhajans and I had the opportunity to sing as well. It was wonderful to hear Swami's bhajans sung in French. After the bhajans were over we went to the home of the president of the Sai centers. At his house we shared many wonderful experiences together and had a great time. It was wonderful to experience our Sai s Love no matter where we go. - By Mahima P. Group 4 1. God is love. What Love means to me By Smriti B. Group 1A 2. We love our family. 3. If our friend says something hurtful we still forgive them and we remain friends again. 4. When we go to nursing homes we make the people happy and that gives us joy in our hearts. 5. When we give gifts to people we see a smile on their face. 6. We should help people when they need it. 7. Sharing is caring. One weekend, my mom and dad were grocery shopping, I was busy finishing my homework. It was almost dark, and I knew that my parents would be hungry when they came back. I also wanted a change of work so I decided to make my parents a surprise. It was getting quite late so I looked inside the fridge to prepare dinner. Quickly, I toasted tortillas and cooked beans. I was excited to see my parents reaction and was enjoying preparing all the dishes. Joyfully, I decorated the dining table, carefully taking out fancy dishes. Just as I finished, they came home, and looked so happy! This memory makes me feel so delighted, spreading love to your family, or anyone, can improve your mood. True acts of love come naturally, and they do not have to cost anything. There are millions of ways to spread love, everyone has their own unique way. Good Acts of Service Divine Thoughts Juice of Love (Premarasa) Just as every day you engage in exercise and consume tonics, calculating the intake of calories and vitamins, and paying meticulous attention to the nutritional value of the food, pay attention also to the intake of impressions into the mind - whether they debilitate or strengthen, whether they add to the power of resistance of the mind against the viruses of greed, envy, hatred, pride, malice, etc. Have a meal of good acts of service, divine thoughts, and drink the premarasa (juice of Love), so that they may be washed down, and digested well. Then you can be shining in mental health, happiness and wholesomeness. - Divine Discourse, Oct 6, 1970 Page 11 of 14 Love Lives by Giving and Forgiving Love 2014
Sports and Spirituality Journey For Accomplishing Your Goals Nothing in this world has more power than love. Love is more powerful than even an atom bomb, a hydrogen bomb or any other bomb. If you have only love you can achieve everything. ~ Swami Self-effort is most essential in every field of activity. Novak Djokovic (A professional tennis player) used this aspect of Swami s teachings in his own tennis career. It is because of his strenuous effort and intense practice that Djokovic is able to play great tennis when facing top players (Roger Federer & Rafael Nadal), which he couldn t do before. Novak Djokovic is considered one of the greatest tennis players. At the age of 14, Djokovic started his international tennis career, winning European championships in singles, doubles, and the team competition. In 2001 he reached the final of the Junior Davis Cup that earned him a junior ranking of No. 24. In 2003 he became a professional tennis player and in 2008 the 21-year-old Serbian, who set the record of becoming the youngest player to reach the semifinals of all the four Grand Slams, mulled over the idea of retirement when he became disheartened at his repeated loss against Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Always improve your game. ~ Michael Jordan Winning is not always the barometer of getting better. ~ Tiger Woods It was patience, hard work and his regard for the game that aided him to overcome those stumbling blocks; he took it up as a challenge to work towards improving his game and pretty soon the tide turned to his favor when he won all the three Grand Slams except the French Open in 2011 being accepted into the Big Four of tennis. Djokovic is a role model to a lot of people who can look up to him for inspiration. He has used self-effort from Swami s teachings to lift him from depressing times in his career. His passion and love for the sport is so immense that it brought him to this stage which he is in right now - No. 1! - Siddharth S. Seva Scoop Helping Town organization had brought NJ community together to help raise funds for treatment of an Autistic child. A team of us were able to express our love through music and dance. We created a fusion audio blending together our own words, ideas and western and Indian classical music to show to ourselves and the audience that it is ok to be unique and still be connected with each other.
