It has been my pleasure to serve as the head of the Assembly for the past two years, and I look forward to additional years as your Faithful Admiral. Your new officers for the 2013 2014 fraternal year, elected at the May meeting, are: Faithful Navigator: Ron Faithful Captain: Bob Causer Faithful Pilot: Bob Weaver Faithful Scribe: Bob Seegmiller Faithful Comptroller: Jim Sammons Faithful Purser: David Haney Faithful Admiral: Paul Krusac Faithful Trustees: Mike Greene (1st year) Dick Sisler (2 year) Bill Fox (3rd year) Faithful Sentinels: David Duff John Martens Keith Rock Bob Wilson I know that you will give them the same excellent cooperation that you always have given me and our other Past Faithful Navigators and officers. Because of your hard work, our Assembly is considered one of the best in the entire Third Texas District. Continued on Page 2 WWW.KOFC2266.ORG Page 1

Charting the Waters (Cont d) The installation of officers for the next fraternal year will take place at Our Lady of Angels parish on Monday, June 24. The event will begin in the church at 6:30 p.m., with dinner immediately following the ceremony in the education building, which is located next door to the church. There will be an open bar with beer and wine plus the catered meal. The information as to the exact cost will be sent to all via an email once it is established by the Fr. McGivney Assembly. As of this writing, they can only estimate it at between $15 and $20. If you plan to attend, please send me an email with the number of attendees, so that I can advise the people at the Fr. McGivney Assembly. If you have already let either Bob Wise or me know of your intentions, you do not need to let us know again. However, if you have not responded, please do so immediately, as I must give our final headcount to the Fr. McGivney Assembly no later than June 20. You will be able to pay Jim Sammons by mail in advance or at the door. We must pay for our share of the dinner that evening so every effort to pay in advance is appreciated. I would like to thank everyone who helped me in the past two years, especially those who served in the Officer positions. One person who needs extra thanks is my wife, Carolyn, who stood behind me during this time and understood when I needed to be at, or working on information for, our many events. I would also like to thank SK Bill Ptacek and SK Jim Massey for their work with our Color Corps, and I appreciate the efforts expended by all Color Corps members to be present at as many events as their time allowed. I will be officially rejoining them as Deputy Color Corps Commander after July 1. At the present time, I plan to wear my purple regalia for local events and my white, as Past Faithful Navigator, for diocesan and district events. As many of you remember, white regalia was mandated for all events while I was the Faithful Navigator. This past Memorial Day, members of our Color Corps participated in both the Pecan Grove Cemetery and the DFW National Cemetery events honoring our deceased veterans. Thank you to all who participated in either. That same evening they took part in the Mass offered at St. Mark for our veterans. I know it was a difficult day for all in the Color Corps, but I m sure that the families of the veterans appreciated your efforts. Vivat Jesus, Paul Krusac Faithful Navigator Assembly 2266 WWW.KOFC2266.ORG Page 2

COLOR CORPS COMMANDER S REPORT I want thank all the Color Corps (CC) members that participated in the Ceremony at the Pecan Grove Cemetery and the evening Mass at St. Mark on Memorial Day. They were definite expressions of Patriotism, and I know the St. Michael s Society was very pleased with the turnout at the Mass. I d also like to thank those CC members that turned out for the Ordination Mass for the two new priests of the Diocese. The events currently scheduled for the remainder of June are as follows: June 16, Council 6065 s Corporate Communion at St. Mark at the 4:30 PM Mass. The date and time needed to be changed due to a schedule conflict. June 22, Major Degree Mass at St. Francis of Assisi at 8:30 AM. June 22, Council 12021 s Corporate Communion, Officer Installation, and Dinner at St. Paul starting with the 5:30 PM Mass. June 23, Council 11716 s Corporate Communion, Officer Installation, and Dinner at Prince of Peace starting with the 5:00 PM Mass. June 29, Council 13520 s Corporate Communion, Officer Installation, and Dinner at All Saints starting with the 5:00 PM Mass. I will be asking for strong turnouts for the Corporate Communions prior to the Councils officer installations, but Color Corps participation in the installations will be very limited, if any, due to a new Installation Ceremonial. Unlike the old ceremonial, there just isn t much opportunity for meaningful participation. To date, there is only one CC event scheduled for July, and that is the Plano Independence Day Parade on the 4 th of July. The Parade will start at the PISD Administration Building at 2700 W. 15 th St. at 9:00 AM. SK Mike Reisinger has recently joined the Color Corps, and participated in the Memorial Day Ceremony at the Pecan Grove Cemetery. SK Mike, welcome to the Team. COLOR CORPS COMMANDER S REPORT (Cont d) To all, the invitation to join the Color Corps is open to all of our Assembly members. If you d like to give the Color Corps a try before making a commitment, please contact one of us listed below. We can get you involved without a formal practice, and we have some loaner regalia, so you can give it a try before becoming a fullfledged member. You can call or send me an e-mail at billptacek@hotmail.com, or contact Jim or Paul at the numbers listed below. Please consider joining this highly visible arm of the Knights of Columbus. I think you would find it enjoyable, and the camaraderie is great! On behalf of my Deputy Color Corps Commanders (DCCCs) listed below, please know that it is our pleasure and honor to serve you. We look forward to having you on the Color Corps Team. Fraternally, Bill Ptacek Jim Massey Paul Krusac CCC DCCC DCCC 972-424-6507 972-235-6158 972-516-0659 WWW.KOFC2266.ORG Page 4

Meal for Veterans By Ed Munno On April 24th, we went to the Fisher House at the Dallas VA Hospital, where we served lasagna, Caesar salad, bread, brownies and drinks to about 10 Veteran s and families and Fisher House Staff. The following Sir Knights made the trip Ed Munno, Bob Wise, Harry Storey, John and Barb Meyers, and Ron Schott. Our next visit to Fisher House will be on July 25th so please contact our Chairman SK Ed Munno if you can join us July. His phone is 972-788- 9174 or his email at emunno@aol.com. We would like to see some Assembly members other than Council 13520! WWW.KOFC2266.ORG Page 5

Committee 0f 1,000 By Mike Greene The Committee of 1000 is a program which funds incidental expenses for seminarians in the Diocese of Dallas. All funds collected are given to Fr. Rodolfo Garcia for his distribution to seminarians in need. This is an important program, as these seminarians do not have a "full boat" college scholarship with all the trimmings nor do all of them have family resources to help them in their needs. Recently Council 13520 collected money to help one of the seminarians buy a winter coat. Yes, seminarians get cold too. These pins show YOUR support for our seminarians, especially those who the Assembly supports through the RSVP Program. The pins are $10 each. Show you care. Support vocations, your future depends upon it. If your Council does not have any pins, see our Faithful Admiral Mike Greene who always has some pins. WWW.KOFC2266.ORG Page 6
