Introduction to Ke Ala Kahiko (the Old Ways): Ancestral Philosophies of Hawai i We have been offering workshops and healings from our Hawaiian lineage for many years now. Some of you may have wondered exactly what this is all about, so we ve decided to offer an introductory one-day workshop that gives insight into the foundations of our Hawaiian lineage and why it is one of the purest paths to self-knowledge and healing. As the Hawaiians say, life is a school without walls. There are many ways to learn and grow spiritually. Being interested in spirituality, you ve probably noticed by now that wise men and women of different cultures are stepping forth to share the ways of their ancestors. There are the Native Americans, the Peruvians, the yogis of India, the Tibetans and, the Hawaiians. The wisdom of the Hawaiian people is said to be 10,000 years old. In myth and legend, the stories go back to the dawn of creation and the great migrations of human beings into the modern ages through Polynesia. Along with this legacy, the Hawaiians deepened their wisdom through their integrative connection with nature. Hawaii is the most isolated populated land in the world more than 2,000 miles in any direction from other populated areas. With this isolation comes the purity of the culture and of the elements of nature: winds untouched by land for thousands of miles; stunningly clean ocean waters; lucidity of the sun and stars and clouds. Hawaiians live in both worlds the visible and tangible on earth and the spiritual, where their aumakua (family spirit guides) reside. They gather information to make life decisions from both the waking world and in dreams, from signs, visitations, omens and divine guidance. It is important to see beyond what the eyes can see, listen for things that are not said and recognize what your na au (gut instinct) already knows. Hawaiians believe that life evolves as nature intended and the right time will come for all things. They have reverence for every part of nature from the oceans and mountains, to trees, ﬂowers, rocks wind, rain, ﬁre, sky, stars, sun and moon. In Illinois, you must complete 24 hours of Continuing Education and 2 of those must be a separate Ethics Class. For National Certiﬁcation, you need 6 hours of ethics every renewal. Also, distance education is being accepted by most agencies (such as our two Ethics and our Voices of the Chakras ONLINE Courses) and you can use up to 12 CE Hours done in the distance education format. Is it the right time, place and season for you? Reiki is a Japanese word translated as spiritual energy.
