A. We saw the phony return in Revelation 6:1-3, now here comes the real deal! B. His Character. Revelation 19:11 1. His name is called Faithful and True. It reflects his character. 2. Jesus name matches his character. C. His righteous judgment. Revelation 19:11-16 D. The armies that are with him are also mentioned (Rev. 19:14). E. An angel summons the fowls (Rev. 19:17-18). F. The antichrist and the false prophet gather their armies to fight against Christ and are defeated (Rev. 19:19-21). G. The defeat of the Antichrist s armies is total. H. Other Bible passages on Christ s second coming: Matthew 24:29-31 3
1. It will occur immediately after the Great Tribulation (Mat. 24:29). This agrees perfectly with Revelation s account. 2. It will be accompanied by great signs in the heavens (Mat. 24:29). 3. All the tribes of the earth will witness His appearance and will mourn (Mat. 24:30). 4. Christ will come with power and great glory (Mat. 24:30). 5. He will come with His saints, who will be gathered from one end of Heaven to he other (Mat. 24:31). This agrees with Revelation 19:14. After they are gathered, they will ride with Christ from Heaven on white horses. 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10 The coming of Christ will be an occasion of fiery judgment upon those who have not obeyed the gospel. It is obvious here that there is no means of salvation apart from personal commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ. His coming will be to set up His kingdom and to be admired by those that believe. 2 Thessalonians 2:8 Here we see that the Antichrist will be judged when Christ returns, which agrees with Revelation 19. 6. The words consume and destroy in 2 Thessalonians 2:8 do not necessarily mean annihilation. They refer to severe judgment, and in this case they refer to eternal punishment in the lake of fire. Zechariah 13:1-9 The return of Christ is the conclusion to the Day of the Lord (Zech.14:1). It will follow the ravishing of Jerusalem and the partial captivity of the Jews (Zech. 14:2-3). This agrees with Revelation 12:13-17; 13:7; and Matthew 24:15-21. The antichrist will make war against Israel during the second half of the Great Tribulation Christ will fight against the nations that are gathered against Jerusalem (Zech. 14:3). This agrees with Revelation 19:15. His feet will touch ground in Jerusalem in the Mount of Olives and its topography will be dramatically changed (Zech. 14:4). The Mount of Olives is where Jesus ascended to Heaven after His resurrection (Acts 1:9-12). Christ will come with all the saints (Zech. 14:5). This agrees with Revelation 19:14. Darkness will not fall in that day (Zech. 14:7). 4
7. Christ will establish His kingdom over all the earth from His headquarters in Jerusalem (Zech. 14:8-9). Isaiah 66:15-20 Christ s coming will be with judgment upon all flesh (Isa. 66:15-16) This refers both to the judgments of the Great Tribulation as well as the destruction that will occur when Christ returns. His return will be followed by the gathering and judgment of the nations (Isa. 66:19). Compare Matthew 25:31-46. The Word of God will be preached to the nations by Jewish evangelists (Isa. 66:19). Jewish remnant will be gathered from the ends of the earth and brought to Jerusalem (Isa. 66:20). Even so, come, Lord Jesus! Quick Review: D. His. Revelation 19:12 E. His. Revelation 19:13 F. His.
