We are fortunate this month to have a weekend retreat with Swami Atmajnanananda ji from the Ramakrishna-Vedanta Society of Washington DC. He would conduct retreat from June 22nd to June 24, on Focusing the Mind, moreover we are fortunate to have Pravrajika Shuddhatmaprana among us on June 10. Apart from that we would also have our regular everyday Aarti, Sunday school, Saturday Gita Scripture study, Sunday Satsang and Karma yoga. Retreat Topic:- Overcoming Suffering in Life Pravrajika Shuddhatmaprana is an ordained nun of the Vedanta Society of Southern California, and is currently posted at the Vivekananda Retreat in Ridgely, New York. For many years Shuddhatmaprana
has been active in the publication work of the Ramakrishna Order, editing numerous books and articles. She has also written many articles and is the author of two books The Divine World of the Alvars and Indian Saints and Mystics. Focusing the Mind 2. Being and Becoming Swami Atmajnanananda is a swami of the Ramakrishna Order, he joined Ramakrishna movement in 1981. He has a Ph.D. in oriental studies from the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently resident minister at the Vedanta Center of Greater Washington, DC, in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA. He authored Jiva Gosvamin's Tattvasandarbha: A Study on the Philosophical and Sectarian Development of the Gaudiya Vaisnava Movement, published by Motilal Banarsidass in 1986 under his pre-monastic name. Atmajnanananda was a significant critic of Jeffrey Kripal's book Kali's Child.

Social Service The Vedanta Center participates in a Monthly volunteer program at Urban Ministries of Durham. Following is the program for the month. On June 16, starting at 10 AM, we are making sandwiches for a homeless shelter. We will be making 80 sandwiches. All who are interested are cordially invited.
