With new focus, new intentions and new mindset we began yet another a new session at DPS- Miyapur. After enjoying the fun-filled summer vacations with their loved ones, the students were back to take on another exciting year of learning with refreshed minds, enthusiasm, excitement, and new hopes. The month of June kick started with an array of events that set the ball rolling. The academic year commenced with the grand celebrations of Telangana Formation Day presented by the students of DPS-Miyapur. 2 nd June marks the historical day of the birth of the youngest state of India, Telangana. This day recounts the success story of the extensive struggle, agitation and sacrifice of the people of Telangana for the demand of a separate state. Hence, 2 nd June is celebrated with much pomp and fervor every year to bask in the rich culture, heritage and history of this wonderful state. A special assembly was conducted by the Telugu department on 2 nd June, 2018. The students put up an impeccable show where they showcased the multifarious culture, rich traditions, fascinating history, delectable cuisine and the inimitable spirit of Telangana through soulful patriotic songs, interesting play and a spirited, endearing, and breathtaking dance performance. DIPS-BUZZ July Page # 2 Ramadan is the holy month of Allah whose beginning is mercy, middle is forgiveness and end is the freedom from the negative things of life. The festival of Eid or Ramzaan is celebrated to shine in His divine blessings after a month of fruitful sacrifice, patience and unflinching faith in God. It is also a festival that brings in the essence of peace, harmony and love across religions. The students of DPS-Miyapur too conveyed the message of unity, love and harmony through their special assembly on Ramzan. The special assembly was presented by the students of Grade V on 14 th June, 2018. The students talked about the significance of the sacred month, and the importance of charity, forgiveness and fasting. They crooned a soul stirring qawali that mesmerized one and all present and danced enthusiastically to a peppy Eid song. DIPS-BUZZ July Page # 2
DIPS-BUZZ July Page # 3 With the aim of honing the dancing skills of the students, an inter house group dance competition was organised by DPS-Miyapur on 20.06.18 for the students of class II. The theme of the competition was Western Dance forms. The vivacious dancers set the floor on fire with their energetic DIPS-BUZZ July Page # 3
DIPS-BUZZ July Page # 4 performances. The spectators bore witness to the enthusiasm and energy of the young dipsites as they enthralled everyone with their performances. After the closely contested competition, Jal House claimed 1st position, Agni won 2 nd position and 3 rd position was shared by Aakash and Prithvi House. It was indeed a spectacular show and a memorable one too. On 20 th June, 2018, DPS-Miyapur organised Shape It with Tangrams competition for the students of Grade III. Various shapes and patterns were given to the students to be made with the tangrams. There was 100% participation from students in the competition. After the preliminary round, the finalists used seven shapes to create figures of objects and pictures. This activity provided the scope for children to fiddle, with fun and learning. This helped them to develop their spatial reasoning skills. Overall the whole competition was a great learning experience. DIPS-BUZZ July Page # 4
DIPS-BUZZ July Page # 5 We at DPS strongly believe that from simple beginnings come great things. Art is a place for children to learn, to build up trust on their abilities, and to explore a world of colours and magic. Creativity is inventing, experimenting, making mistakes and gaining confidence. Childhood creativity leads to innovation in adulthood. With the theme of Marine World a clay modelling competition was held for the little munchkins of UKG on 21 st June, 2018. Children were as busy as bees rolling, pinching, patting, sticking their play dough, and made patterned blue shelled tortoise, pink starfish, red crab, thin wiggly purple snake, big blue whale, flashy orange octopus with twisted tentacles. The judges had a tough time selecting the winner as it was keenly contested. DIPS-BUZZ July Page # 6 Yoga is a way to freedom. With constant practice, we can free ourselves from fear, anguish and ailment. Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured. International Yoga day or commonly referred to as Yoga Day is celebrated annually on 21 st June since its inception in 2015. A special assembly was conducted at DPS-Miyapur on 21 st June, 2018 to celebrate International Yoga Day and spread the message of leading a healthy, fruitful and peaceful life. The assembly was presented by the students from Grade 4 to 8. The assembly started with the students enunciating about the history of yoga, its significance and importance in our day-to-day lives and its health benefits followed by a special yoga demonstration where all the students performed various asanas like, Surya Namaskar, Padmasana, Vajrasana, Trikonaasana guided by the participants and it ended with Pranayama and meditation. The students also demonstrated the various yogic mudras along with their benefits. The wonderful and flawless assembly ended with a spectacular dance performance where the students showcased impressive and stunning yogic postures. It was truly a sight to behold! The cherry on the cake was a soul stirring live music performance that marked a perfect end to the stimulating event. DIPS-BUZZ July Page # 6

An exciting inter house Science Quiz competition namely Science Quest was conducted in DPS, Miyapur for the students of Grade V to VIII. The competition started with the students of Grade V on 14 th June, followed by Grade VII and VIII On 22 nd June, 2018, and Grade VI on 28 th June respectively. After the preliminary round, the final round was held where four teams of the four houses participated. The teams comprised of two students per section, per house. The event DIPS-BUZZ July Page # 7
DIPS-BUZZ July Page # 8 witnessed enthusiastic preparation and participation. At the end of three exciting rounds, different houses in each class emerged as winners. DPS-Miyapur encourages positive competition and hopes to bring out the best through such events. DIPS-BUZZ July Page # 9 The last event of the eventful month was celebrating Earth Day. Earth Day is an annual event to celebrate the existence of the planet we live in. We also celebrate this day to increase awareness and appreciate the Earth s natural environment. With the threatening and progressive increase of global warming and other environmental hazards, it is necessary to promote the understanding of important environmental issues so that more people become aware of the critical actions that are needed to be taken to protect our mother Earth. To emphasize on the importance to save the planet from a destructive path and to learn to make a difference by practicing healthy habits of sustainability, the students of Grade VI of Delhi Public School, Miyapur presented a thought provoking assembly on 29 th June, 2018. The assembly commenced with the briefing of how selfishness and negligence of human beings is contributing to the destruction of nature through roleplay. Then the students enacted an inspiring dance drama where they depicted the dire need to protect the earth. They also spoke about the simple measures and actions that we should adopt to conserve the natural assets of Mother Nature and also to make our school an environment friendly green school. The assembly ended with a mellifluous song to commemorate our beloved Earth. DIPS-BUZZ July Page # 9
DIPS-BUZZ July Page # 10 With the commencement of a new session, DPS-Miyapur has introduced project HAPPINESS that includes Bucket Fill-o-sophy that aims in fostering development of the emotional quotient of a child that will help him to lead a happy and successful life. The bucket symbolizes everyone s heart that needs to be filled with love, care, compassionate words and kind deeds. So, encourage your ward to fill their buckets every day and be a bucket filler.
