Craig Dear Parishioners, Tomorrow is the feast day of St. Joseph. Joseph was given the highest compliment. He was called just. He was one who was completely open to all that God wanted to do for him. He became holy by opening himself totally to God. St. Bernardine says, He was chosen by the eternal Father as the trustworthy guardian and protector of his greatest treasures, namely his divine Son and Mary. He carried out this vocation with complete fidelity until at last God called him saying good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Lord. We pray for all fathers of the world. May they lead and guide their families to holiness. We will be getting a St Joseph statue to put outside next to the Blessed Virgin Mary statue. A scout will be working on this for his eagle scout project. This Saturday will be the feast of the Annunciation. Mary received the good news from the Archangel Gabriel that she is with child and will be the Mother of the Son of God. We are 9 months away from Christmas. This Tuesday is Ministry Night at 6:30. All ministers of the parish are invited to come and hear a wonderful speaker and to socialize with one another. Next Saturday is the Women s retreat at 8:30am. All women are invited to come for some prayer, reflection and social. This is the last week for you to fill out the survey for the parish. Please grab a form in the commons or go to www.disciplemakerindex.com. It only takes 5 minutes. We have had 190 people fill it out. It would be great if we can get to 300. We still have some rice bowls left on the tables in the social hall and commons. The money collected is sent to Catholic Relief Services which does so much for the poor. Please take one home for your family. Have a great week. Fr. Craig St. Leo Women's Retreat Saturday March 25 8:30am to 1:00pm March 25 is the Feast of Mary's Annunciation: Her YES to God. Good News from St. Pius X/St. Leo School "St. Pius X / St. Leo School is a diverse community forming students in the Catholic faith to excel in academics and service to others." Toward the end of the 10:00am Mass on Ash Wednesday, we were blessed to have Ms. Mary Higgins, the President of Marian High School and Ms. Molly Woodman, the Recruitment Director, come forward to make a presentation to McKenna Blaine, an eighth grade student at SPSL. She received a special academic scholarship to Marian High School. The Thelma M. Landstrom Scholarship gives students who qualify for financial assistance, an opportunity for a full ride to Marian. Candidates must shadow at Marian, qualify for admission through the placement exam, write an essay, and provide a letter of recommendation from SPSL. McKenna Blaine joins her older sister, Madison Blaine, a senior at Marian, in being recipients of this prestigious scholarship. Over the years, three students from SPSL have been awarded the Thelma M. Landstrom Scholarship. -Joyce Gubbels, Principal If you have children in grades Pre-Kindergarten (3 & 4 year olds) to Grade 8 that you are thinking about sending to our school for the next school year, please call our school office at 402-551-6667 to set up a time to come and visit, and, then register your child/ren when you decide to come to our school. Lunch Menu M: Popcorn Chicken T: Crunch Taco W: Hotdog Th: Chicken Fried Steak F: Grilled Cheese sandwich Development Dialogue March 19, 2017 Make a gift that will make a difference. Your gifts of cash, stock, bonds, real estate, life insurance or certificates of deposit are needed to make our Parish and/or School Endowment Funds grow and create a perpetual source of income for the future. Please contact Bob Nowaczyk, SPSL's Development Coordinator at 402-551-6667 to learn how a gift today can be transformed into an eternal gift that helps pass on our Catholic heritage. Please prayerfully consider remembering our School and/or Parish's Endowment Funds in your planned giving. Laity in Liturgy March 19, 2017 When our past has cast a shadow Even sunshine can t dispel, There is One who knows and loves us Who will meet us at the well. When our first love s far behind us And we re shocked how far we fell, Look how far He s come to save us. Look! He s waiting at the well. When we re shackled with a secret, Like a captive in a cell, There is One who knows completely And will free us at the well. When we re hurt by long rejection Bitter looks and angry yells We find pardon and acceptance Offered freely at the well. When we ve drunk the living water But we feel like empty shells, We are overdue a visit To the Healer at the well. When we can t afford perfection But find grace a harder sell, If we re ready to accept it, There is freedom at the well. When we re busy and exhausted, Sit beside Him for a spell. There s an open invitation Come and join Him at the well. When we find such love and mercy, It s our joy to run and tell. Come, and bring the others with you, Come, be women at the well. -Krista Besselmen Entrance Antiphon My eyes are ever fixed on the Lord, for he releases my feet from the snare. O look at me and be merciful, for I am wretched and alone. Ps 25:15-16 Communion Antiphon Whoever drinks the water I shall give him, says the Lord, will have a spring inside him, welling up for eternal life. Jn 4:13-14 06 l St. Leo Catholic Church

In Pursuit of Life, Love and Happiness By: Deacon Jim Shipman In our lives numerous people influence how we think and what we do. Occasionally we have an encounter with someone who has a great influence upon the direction of our life. Hopefully that person we encounter leads us in a good direction by helping us understand ourselves and how to become a better person. In today s Gospel, a Samaritan women, whose life appears to be in shambles, comes to Jacob s well to get water. She has been married five times and is living with a sixth man. Then she encounters Jesus and her life is changed! Jesus opens a conversion with her with a simple request for a cup of water. She responds with almost an argumentative attitude because she can t believe Jesus is even speaking to her at all. During this time in history men did not speak to women in public and Jews certainly did not speak or associate with Samaritans. Jesus replies telling her that He can give her living water and explains that we must worship God in spirit and truth. Then opening up her life before her, Jesus goes deeper telling her about herself as if He had known her for years. The important point for us to understand is that the Lord knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows all our little secrets, failures and faults. Jesus wants us to enjoy His company and be refreshed by His grace, which is that cup of life giving water. The Samaritan women told her whole community, He told me everything I have done. Jesus opened her mind and heart to believe that he was the Christ. Now it is our time to encounter Jesus and accept his direction in our lives and to live in spirit and truth.
