Committed to His Will, His Way, and His Word Our Vision Statement "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Luke 4:18-19 (NKJ) It is the vision of Mt. Olive to be a church that is intentional in its efforts to identify and meet the needs of broken, hurt and oppressed people in the greater Glen Allen area through the message and ministry of Jesus Christ. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. The color of the table cloth on the Communion table and podium are changed to GREEN to indicate the season. The pulpit dress is changed according to the season of the Christian Calendar. Look for further information on the Christian Calendar and pulpit dress colors in the near future. Theme For This Quarter: ACTS OF WORSHIP The study of this quarter is primarily from the New Testament. Its three units follow the theme of worship as it pertains to a human response to God. UNIT 3: STEWARDSHIP FOR LIFE The four lessons in this study examine various aspects of stewardship from Matthew, Luke, and Ephesians. February 22, 2015 NEXT WEEK S LESSON: Clothes and Ready Ephesians 6:10-20 Only proper preparation can give assurance that certain things are accomplished. Putting on the whole armor of God teaches that in order to best serve God, Christians need to fortify themselves with truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, the Word of God, and prayer. MONDAY: Read the Word Luke 4:1-12 TUESDAY: The Battle Lines Drawn 1 Samuel 17:19-30 WEDNESDAY: Choosing the Right Equipment 1 Samuel 17:31-39 THURSDAY: The Battle is the Lord s 1 Samuel 17:40-50 FRIDAY: Put on the Lord Jesus Christ Romans 13:8-14 SATURDAY: The Dress for God s Chosen Ones Colossians 3:12-17 SUNDAY: The Whole Armor of God Ephesians 6:10-20 Sermon Highlights: February 8, 2015 HOW TO ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST INTO YOUR HEART Perhaps while reading the announcements you realized you have never made a Christian commitment. Don t delay that decision! We encourage you to embrace God s love today and receive the salvation that only Jesus Christ gives. Here are five simple steps you can take to find assurance of salvation. 1. Recognize your need. The Bible tell us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Rom. 3:23) All of us are sinners, and we must admit our need for a Savior. 2. Repent of your sins. Our sins create a wall that separates us from God. By confessing our sins and turning from them, you will find forgiveness. The Bible promises: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). 3. Believe in Jesus. God sent His only Son to die so that He could pay for all our sins. Put your faith in Him and believe in His power to save you. The Bible says, For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). 4. Receive His salvation. God has given us a great gift in His Son, but we must receive His gift. Thank Him for loving and forgiving you, and ask Him to live in your heart. His promise to us is clear: But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12). 5. Confess your faith. The Bible assures us: If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Rom. 10:9). You have been born again and are now part of God s family. Tell some one else what Jesus has done in your life! Title: Moving Forward With Jesus Text: Luke 8:22-25 Winter 2015 semester now in session. Main Idea: Jesus spoke a forward moving statement to His disciples. He wants to be part of your moving forward. When you Class meets every Wednesday evening from 6:30 PM move forward with Jesus you will: Points: 8:00 PM in the MP Building Classroom #1. 1) See a display of power. 2) Be asked a qualifying question. 3) Make it. For the full message order a CD or DVD of the service from the Media Ministry. CDs $5.00; Double CDs $7.00; DVDs $10.00 This quarter the study focuses on the book of Acts: the development of the early church, the life and missionary journey of Paul, and the geographical and social backgrounds. Instructor: Marilyn E. Coates

10 Superfoods Healthier Than Kale In the world of marketing, image is everything. If you're James Franco or Roger Federer or Taylor Swift, your name and face can be used to sell anything from phones to watches to perfume -- even if you're not necessarily famous for the your tech-savvy, your promptness, or the way you smell. In the food world, the biggest celebrity of all might be kale -- the Shakira of salads, the Lady Gaga of leafy greens. It's universally recognized that kale anything--kale chips, kale pesto, kale face cream -- instantly imparts a health halo. Even 7-Eleven is making over its image by offering kale cold-pressed juices. And yes, kale has plenty of benefits -- including high levels of folate and more calcium, gram for gram, than a cup of milk. Still, kale's actually not the healthiest green on the block. In fact, in a recent report published by the Centers for Disease Control that ranked 47 "powerhouse fruits and vegetables," kale placed only 15th (with 49.07 points out of 100 for nutrient density)! Here's a roundup of the 10 leafy green cousins that researchers say pack a greater nutritional wallop. This week: SUPERFOOD #4 BEET GREENS Nutrition Score: 87.08 Yes, the stuff they cut off and throw in the garbage before charging you an arm and a leg for "beet salad." A scant cup of the bitter green serves up nearly 5 grams of fiber--that's more than you'll find in a bowl of Quaker oats! Researchers at the University of Leeds found that risk of cardiovascular disease was significantly lower for every 7 grams of fiber consumed. Try them in stir-fries and eat to your heart's content! Superfood # 10 - Kale Superfood # 9 - Romaine Superfood # 8 - Parsley Superfood # 7 - Leaf Lettuce Superfood # 6 - Chicory Superfood # 5 - Spinach HEALTHCARE MINISTRY

1. Age Targeted Teaching: Where else can your kids get Biblical instruction that's focused toward their developmental abilities? 2. Friends: In Sunday School, your child will build positive friendships with their peers by discovering God's Word together. 3. It's Fun: Sunday School is not Disney Land, but our teachers do work hard to teach the Bible in ways that are relevant and fun for kids. 4. Spiritual Mentors: A dedicated teacher can be a Christian role model who supports you and helps inspire the faith of your child. 5. Systematic Bible Learning: Our curriculum is designed to give a broad foundation, so children will understand how all the parts of Scripture point to Christ. 6. Praying Teachers: Our teachers consistently pray for your child's faith to grow. Coming to Sunday School gives another occasion for God to answer those requests. 7. Big Reward For a Small Investment: If you're already coming to church, just come a little earlier or stay a little later. 8. Send the Right Message: Making Sunday School a priority shows your kids that God's Word really does matter. 9. Adult Bible Fellowship: While the children enjoy their class, you can fellowship with other adults in your own Bible study group. 10. Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV): Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
