Please no romance or questionable novels (i.e "fifty shades of grey.") I also am asking for monetary donations to help with the cost of shipping these books directly to the troops requesting them. If you would like to donate paperback books or money for shipping please give it to my grandma, Nedra Johnson, and she will give it to me. Anything helps. Thank you! Our marking is fast approaching! Our triple marking of Gen. Allen Daniel, Elisha Ware, and Philip Ware will take place on Sunday, December 6th at 2:30 near Danielsville. The day is being declared Gen. Daniel Day by the Danielsville City Council. The ceremony to dedicate all three markers will be held at the grave of Gen. Daniel after which we will enjoy refreshments at the Danielsville Library. At 4:00, we will place the markers of the Ware brothers in the Ware Cemetery. A map of all the locations is on the next page. We are hoping to have a good attendance from Madison County, so we need to have plenty of refreshments on hand. A sign-up sheet will be passed around at the meeting, but if you are unable to attend, please let Kaye Reeves know what you will bring or send. The family connection is that Gen. Daniel s son-in-law was Elisha Ware. Elisha s brother, Philip, lived in Alabama but died on a visit home. As it turns out, Kaye Reeves knew some of that branch of the family when she lived in Auburn and has contacted them about attending. If people are coming from Alabama, surely we can all be there to welcome them! Graves of Elisha and Philip Ware Ware Family Cemetery Graves of Allen and Mary Daniel Daniel Family Cemetery

Marking of Henry Wade In August, Kaye Reeves and Beth Collins attended the marking of Henry Wade, a soldier in the War of 1812. The ceremony, held in Alto, Georgia, was conducted by the descendants of Henry Wade with Evie Whitfield assisting with the planning. Lela Wade s husband is a descendant. Beth was asked to say a few words on the War of 1812 and the chapter wreath was presented. Unfortunately, the marking was on the same day as the DAR Workshop which precluded many of our chapter members from attending. Larry Whitfield, Darling Husband of Evie, got up an SAR color guard which included Scott Collins, DH of Beth. Our chapter was proud to be asked to participate in this beautiful ceremony. Larry Whi ield and Sco Collins followed by two other members of the SAR Color Guard.
