August 2016 Dear Member, We look forward to seeing you this upcoming High Holy Day season. On the Jewish calendar, the High Holy Days are the traditional time for review, renewal and return to what is most important to us. The transition to a new year offers opportunities for new perspectives. Here at Ohav Shalom, your rabbis, staff, lay leadership and volunteers are busy planning for the year ahead with new ideas to enhance the life of our kehillah kedoshah, sacred community. We will share some of these with you as we come together for the High Holy Days. This year our congregation's theme, Judaism From the Inside Out: Real Wisdom for Real Life. Please see our class and Shabbat and Holiday offerings in upcoming communications. We welcome you to participate in our community and to share in the riches of Jewish life. As always, our Board of Trustees is working tirelessly to strengthen Ohav and to position the shul for growth in the coming year. Our administrative staff is busily preparing for the High Holy Days to make your experience seamless so that your High Holy Day experience can be most meaningful. Ohav is a welcoming and inclusive congregation, and, as always, we look forward to sharing the High Holy Days with our families and friends. This year, in place of a set fee, we are encouraging our High Holy Day guests to contribute what they are able to help support Ohav Shalom. The support of our membership and guests enables us to offer inspiring and meaningful holiday experiences in this season as well as throughout the year. Please read the enclosed forms for tickets, child care, the Yizkor book and other sign-ups. As always, please pay special attention to deadline dates. We appreciate your cooperation, which helps us meet printing deadlines and function more efficiently. We anticipate a great year ahead at Ohav Shalom, filled with warm community and meaningful experiences. We look forward to sharing it with all of you! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any of us. Wishing you a shanah tovah, a year filled with sweetness, good health and all good things.
