I am of course (say name and also boxer nickname), and I m so excited because today we are going to learn to fight in a whole new way! Right now we are learning how to Rise Up and how to fight! That s right, I said we re learning to fight in Kid Works! That may sound crazy but that s what we are here to do today. We tell you a lot that the Bible teaches us every way to live, and today we get to see that in action. Last week we learned about a tool so important, that if we don t use it we couldn t fight back at all. That tool was forgiveness. Now many of you know that we should forgive others and that others should forgive us but we weren t talking about the forgiveness that we get from people. We learned that it s important to be forgiven by God! And it turns out that it s actually really easy to do. All we had to do was ask! Well today in Kid Works you are going to hear about the last way we need to be ready to fight. Today we we are learning to fight against discouragement! If you re like me you ve been discouraged by bullies, by friends and even sometimes your own thoughts. Well today that ends, because we are fighting back. But before we can fight, we ve got to get warmed up. Here to help us with that today is Mr. Nathan. Everyone say What Up Mr. Nathan! Nathan: Now everyone knows you can t go into a fight when your muscles are all weak! So before we can learn to fight we need to get warmed up and get our muscles loose. I need help from 2 students to come up on the stage with me.
*Quickly pull 2 students up on stage with you and Melissa will help them put on the giant gloves. Have the students on stage face the crowd and have them use the screen at the back of the room.* Now I need everyone in the room to jump up to your feet and get warmed up with us! My two friends are going to use the screen at the back and help me lead you in the warm up. All you need to do is watch the screen and when you see a fight action come up you act it out. When you see a punch you punch, a kick you kick, a karate chop you karate chop! I ll be calling out the actions to help you out. So let s get ready to get warmed up! *Stand in the middle of the stage between the two selected kids. Follow on screen moves on the monitor at the back of the room, saying each move out loud as they are shown. Melissa: Alright you can take a seat. Before we get started today I want to tell you about on last thing! That is our One Thought. Every week in Kid Works you learn some pretty awesome stuff but we know that sometimes it can be difficult to remember every word. We ll we are going to make it really easy and each day tell you just One Thought to make sure you can remember. Knowing the One Thought will help you remember everything else. So who in here thinks they can remember just One Thought today? *Hold up your hand so kids can respond by holding up theirs* Well here is our One Thought for today: God Says I Can. Say it with me one time all together: God says, I Can. You ll hear this again later so make sure you remember this One Thought! Now that we are all warmed up let s jump to our feet and come down to the front. It s time for some praise! Praise Play Won t Let Go Lyric Video for Praise / Lights: #2 Word: Isaiah 41:10 (NLT) Slides / Lights: #1 Supplies: Bible marked with the Word [A video with a Word jingle will play as you come on stage. Wait for the song to end before speaking on the mic] Can everyone in the room quickly tell me what the One Thought is today? That s right, God Says I Can!
Now it s time to take a look at The Word. Can someone tell me what they think I m talking about when I say the word? * Allow kids to just shout out the answer without asking specific kids* That s right, when I say The Word I m talking about the Bible. So why do we call it The Word? Because the Bible is the Word of God. The Bible tell us that even though it was people who wrote the Bible, God was the one who helped them know what to write. So the Bible is actually the very words of God! Let s take a look at The Word for Today. *Read it from the Bible in your hand* When I think back I can remember many times in life where people said things to me that were negative, make me feel bad about myself or even being discouraging! There we times I wanted to be brave and try new things but it always seems like there was someone to say that I couldn t do it, that I wasn t good enough! Sometimes these negative words even came from my own thoughts. I m sure just like me you fight negative words and thought that discourage you and make you believe you can t be brave enough or ever be good at something new. This is exactly what our Word talk about today. You see God s Word is a huge reminder that we can be brave and that we can succeed at new things! You see, not only did God make you awesome He also says that He will give us courage and strength! But it gets even better. He also says that He will hold us up in victory, which means God is going to fight for us so we can always have victory when we trust in Him. W can be the bravest, most courageous and adventurous people because God is with us! Today we are going to learn exactly how to fight against discouragement with God fighting for us! But before we do, let s say the word one time together. *Say it only one time with all of the kids participating* Great job everyone!
