Come, Thou Almighty King 3
O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing Scripture Reading & Prayer of Confession James 1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes in the Dispersion: Greetings. 2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven 4
and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. 9 Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, 10 and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away. 11 For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits. 12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, I am being tempted by God, for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. 14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. 18 Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. 19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. 26 If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person s religion is worthless. 27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. 5
Satisfied All my life long I had panted For a drink from some cool spring; That I hoped would quench the burning Of the thirst I felt within. Feeding on the filth around me, till my strength was almost gone. Longed my soul for something better, Only still to hunger on. Chorus Hallelujah! He has found me, The One my soul so long has craved! Jesus satisfies all my longings, Through His blood I now am saved. Poor I was and sought for riches, Something that would satisfy. But the dust I gathered round me Only mocked my soul s sad cry. Well of water ever springing, Bread of Life so rich and free. Untold wealth that never faileth, My Redeemer is to me. (Chorus x2) Satisfied Words: Clara T. Chorus Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul; Worship His holy name. Sing like never before, O my soul; I ll worship Your holy name. The sun comes up; it s a new day dawning: It s time to sing Your song again. Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me, Let me be singing when the evening comes. (Chorus) You re rich in love, and You re slow to anger. Your name is great and Your heart is kind. For all Your goodness, I will keep on singing; Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find. (Chorus) And on that day, when my strength is failing, The end draws near, and my time has come; Still, my soul will sing Your praise unending -- Ten thousand years, and then forevermore! Offering Proverbs 3:13 15 13 Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, 14 for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. 15 She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Preparatory Song My Worth Is Not in What I Own My worth is not in what I own, Not in the strength of flesh and bone, But in the costly wounds of love at the cross. My worth is not in skill or name, In win or lose, in pride or shame, But in the blood of Christ that flowed at the cross. Chorus I rejoice in my Redeemer, Greatest treasure, Wellspring of my soul. I will trust in Him, no other, My soul is satisfied in Him alone. As summer flow rs we fade and die; Fame, youth, and beauty hurry by; But life eternal calls to us at the cross. I will not boast in wealth, or might, Or human wisdom s fleeting light; But I will boast in knowing Christ at the cross. (Chorus) Two wonders here that I confess: My worth and my unworthiness. My value fixed, my ransom paid at the cross! Psalm 62 My soul finds rest in God alone, My Rock and my salvation; A fortress strong against my foes, And I will not be shaken. Though lips may bless and hearts may curse, And lies like arrows pierce me, I ll fix my heart on righteousness, I ll look to Him who hears me. Chorus O praise Him, hallelujah, My Delight and my reward; Everlasting, never failing, My Redeemer, my God. Find rest, my soul, in God alone Amid the world s temptations; When evil seeks to take a hold I ll cling to my salvation. Though riches come and riches go, Don t set your heart upon them; The fields of hope in which I sow Are harvested in heaven. (Chorus) I ll set my gaze on God alone And trust in Him completely; With every day pour out my soul And He will prove His mercy. Though life is but a fleeting breath, A sigh too brief to measure, My King has crushed the curse of death And I am His forever.
