Men s Gathering Guys, we will not have a Men s Gathering in July. The guys typically meet the fourth Sunday of each month. The fourth Sunday in July will kick off Summer Celebration at Rippling Waters. We invite you to join us as we go to the kick off concert July 23 at 6:00 PM at Rippling Waters Campground. The concert will feature the Ball Brothers. Hope to see you there! Women s Gathering Submitted by Freda Akers The April Women s Gathering was fantastic! I must share a bit of Connie Runion s story. Our pastor asked us to write our story during one of his messages and Connie did. She s the hat lady who plays the keys so faithfully. She shared her childhood, family, her passion as a 4th grade teacher, her salvation, her doubts, and what brought her blessed assurance. Connie believes in a mercy bank when you show mercy, you receive mercy. You can only give as the Lord prompts and out of a heart of love. Than you Connie for sharing your story! In May our Women s Gathering was hosted by Janie Davis. Janie shared the Fruits of the Spirit. Not only that, she served fresh fruit! She reminded us from Galatians 5:22-23 the fruit are not individual, but one nine-fold characteristic of the Spirit. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and selfcontrol. She shared each quality and noted that goodness reflects the character of God. Then she asked a heart searching question, Does my life reflect the character, the holiness, of God? The secret of the fruit being evident in our lives is Galatians 5:25. If we live by the Spirit and walk by the Spirit, all 9 qualities are produced in us. Thank you Janie for sharing! Our next Women s Gathering will be Sunday, July 9 at 5:00 P.M. at my home (Freda Akers). My address is 328 Vine Street in Beckley. My phone number is (304) 573-5776. Off of Johnstown Road, directly across from Leisure Lanes Bowling Alley is Vine Street. Meat, rolls, and drinks will be provided. Please bring a side dish and come prepared to have a good time! All women are invited to attend! Women s Book Club The Cross Point Women s Book Club will meet July 18th at 10:30 in the lobby of the church. Our book for July is The Weight of Mercy A Novice Pastor on the City Streets. The author Deb Richarson-Moore was a journalist in the south. She retrained as a Baptist pastor and accepted a post in an inner city church in Greenville, South Carolina. Ministry can be messy, complicated, and bewildering. Whether responding to the church alarm mysteriously and repeatedly going off in the middle of the night, firing a kitchen assistant with a habit of buying drugs from parishioners, or interacting with the Chicken-Eatin Preacher from West Greenville, Pastor Deb Richardson-Moore quickly admits that there is a great deal they do not teach you in seminary. Join us for a look at God s grace manifested in amazing ways. India Hosch will facilitate the discussion this month. A snack will be provided but please bring your own drink. We hope you will join us for a morning of fun and fellowship. Youth Summer Camp July 16-21 @ Rippling Waters Campground. See Pastor Rob for more info and to sign up. Baptism: Dead to Sin, Alive to God On Sunday July 9 Cross Point will have a baptism service. If you are a Christian and have never been baptized, we encourage you to consider being baptized on this special day! What is baptism? During baptism we are submerged in water to identify with the death of Jesus and rise out of the water to identify with His resurrection. Baptism testifies to our faith that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, rose three days later, and now is alive and Lord over all creation. When a Christian is baptized you also fulfill what Jesus has commanded. Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus says, Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Who should be baptized? If you have made a commitment to Jesus, we encourage you to follow His command to be baptized as a public profession of your faith in Him. Contact the church office at (304) 252-6684 or send us an email to office@beckleycrosspoint.org for more information and to sign up to be baptized. July 2017 5

Download the App Today http://get.theapp.co/4d41 Prayer Chain Prayer is a powerful tool we have as Christians. As a church family we can help lift each other up in prayer. One way we do this at Cross Point is through our Prayer Chain. The prayer chain is a group of people who have opted in to receive prayer requests. When an urgent prayer request is received, it is sent to this group using our church notification system. Each member then receives the request so they can begin praying for the need. Individuals who would like to be added to the prayer chain should contact Justin Davis in the church office at (304) 252-6684. To submit a prayer request, follow this procedure: Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Call the church office at: (304) 252-6684. All other times, call Justin Davis at (304) 575-2363. If no answer, leave a message and Justin will put it on the prayer chain as soon as possible. Rent A Youth Is there a job on your to do list that you just don t have time or you don t want to do? Why not rent one of our youth to help with your chores? Money raised from Rent A Youth helps our youth attend various youth activities. The youth ministry has been collecting aluminum cans to be recycled to raise money to support youth activities. You can drop off your aluminum cans at the church during office hours (Monday Thursday 8AM -4PM). There is a collection can near the gym. Help support our youth and save our environment!
