Pre-Service Devotion: Psalm 48 (p. 134, red hymnal) [Communion Preparation: The Christian Questions, inside the back cover of the red hymnals.] Pre-Service Prayer: O Lord God, in whom I put my trust and upon whom my life depends, watch over and bless me this day as I enter into Your sanctuary to worship with my fellow believers. Accept my prayers and my praises; open my ears and my heart; instruct and uplift my mind and my spirit, so that I might go forth as Your ambassador into a world that so clearly needs Your truth and Your mercy. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

COMMUNION ORDER OF SERVICE WE PREPARE TO MEET OUR LORD Hymn: 743 (tan Supplement) Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise When the congregation is asked to stand, please do so only if you are able. You may remain seated if standing is difficult. WELCOME in the name of our Lord God whom we can trust completely and without hesitation! Invocation: Pastor: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Congregation (sings): Amen. Our Confession of Sins: Pastor: Beloved in the Lord! Let us draw near with a true heart and confess our sins unto God, our Father, beseeching Him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness. Our help is in the name of the Lord. Congregation (sings): Who made heaven and earth. Pastor: I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord. Congregation (sings): And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. All: O almighty God, merciful Father, I, a poor, miserable sinner, confess unto You all my sins and iniquities with which I have offended You. I justly deserve Your temporal and eternal punishment. But I am heartily sorry for my sins and sincerely repent of them. I pray that You would of Your boundless mercy and for the sake of the holy, innocent, bitter sufferings and death of Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, be gracious and merciful to me, a poor, sinful being. Pastor: Upon this your confession, I, by virtue of my office as a called servant of the Word, announce the grace of God unto all of you, and in the stead and by the command of my Lord Jesus Christ, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Congregation (sings): Amen. 2

Responsive Reading: Psalm 146:1-5 P: Praise the LORD! C: Praise the LORD, O my soul! WE PRAISE OUR LORD P: While I live I will praise the LORD; C: I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. P: Do not put your trust in princes, C: Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. P: His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; C: In that very day his plans perish. P: Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, C: Whose hope is in the LORD his God! P: Glory be to God! Congregation (sings): Gloria Patri Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, forevermore. Amen. Kyrie Lord, have mercy upon us. Christ, have mercy upon us. Lord, have mercy upon us. Luther's Sanctus Hymn Isaiah, mighty seer in days of old, The Lord of all in spirit did behold High on a lofty throne, in splendor bright, With robes that filled the temple courts with light. Above the throne were flaming seraphim; Six wings had they, these messengers of Him. With two they veiled their faces as was right, With two they humbly hid their feet from sight, And with the other two aloft they soared; 3

One to the other called and praised the Lord: Holy is God, the Lord of heav nly hosts! Holy is God, the Lord of heav nly hosts! Holy is God, the Lord of heav nly hosts! His glory fills the heavens and the earth! The beams and lintels trembled at the cry, And clouds of smoke enwrapped the throne on high. cf. Isaiah 6:1ff CW 267. Text Translation Copyright 1941 Concordia Publishing House. All rights reserved. OneLicense.net License #A-710933 Pastor: Let us pray. Congregation (sings): Amen. Epistle Reading: 2 Corinthians 7:6-10 OUR LORD SPEAKS TO US God comforts us when we are downcast, especially when He leads us and others who have sinned to godly sorrow, repentance, and salvation. Congregational Praise (sung): Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Gospel Reading: Luke 7:36-50 Congregational Welcome (sung): Glory be to You, O Lord! When a sinful woman anointed Jesus feet with precious ointment and wiped His feet with her hair, Simon the Pharisee was upset. How could Jesus associate with such a sinner? Jesus told Simon the parable of the two debtors to explain how God s loving forgiveness moves people to love. Congregational Response (sung): Praise be to You, O Christ! Our Confession of Faith in the Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by Whom all things were made; Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary 4

and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried. And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, Whose kingdom will have no end. And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life, Who proceeds from the Father and the Son, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, Who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, And I look for the resurrection of the dead And the life of the world to come. Amen. Hymn: Entrust Your Days and Burdens Entrust your days and burdens to God's most loving hand; He cares for you while ruling the sky, the sea, the land. For He who guides the tempests along their thund'rous ways will find for you a pathway and guide you all your days. Rely on God your Savior and find your life secure. Make His work your foundation that your work may endure. No anxious thought, no worry, no self-tormenting care can win your Father's favor; His heart is moved by prayer. 5

Sermon: Text - Jeremiah 17:5-10 Take heart, have hope, my spirit and do not be dismayed; God helps in ev'ry trial and makes you unafraid. Await His time with patience through darkest hours of night until the sun you hoped for delights your eager sight. Leave all to His direction; His wisdom rules for you in ways to rouse your wonder at all His love can do. Soon He, His promise keeping, with wonder-working pow'rs will banish from your spirit what gave you troubled hours. Our hands and feet, Lord, strengthen; With joy our spirits bless until we see the ending of all our life's distress. And so throughout our lifetime keep us within Your care and at our end then bring us to heav'n to praise You there. (tune: TLH 605; text: LSB 754) Text: Paul Gerhardt; tr. F. All communicant members of Immanuel and of our sister congregations in the CLC (Church of the Lutheran Confession) are welcome at the Lord's Table. If there are visitors present who wish to commune with us in the future, you are invited to speak with the Pastor about this at your convenience. The pastors will bring communion to you there. Any communicants sitting in the balcony should please come down to the narthex for direction to the table. Communicants are ushered to the communion table. If you desire the bread in your hand, simply extend your hand to the Pastor as he approaches you with the bread. Those desiring an individual cup, please take a cup when the tray is offered. The common cup will immediately follow. Deacons would like to clarify and communicate to its members the IMMANUEL FACILITY USE POLICY. All and any events and activities that are not scheduled by the church or school will need to have the ILC USE REQUEST form filled out and submitted to deacons for review and approval of that facility for that use. This would include any and all events and activities that would use Immanuel s sanctuary, school, church basement, kitchens, and the multi-purpose facility. There are no exclusions of any activities or events from the policy. If you have activities or usage that carry from year to year a form will need to be filled out for that year of usage. This helps and maintains an accurate and efficient schedule between church, school, and requested usage. The USE REQUEST forms are available by requesting from church administrator Sara Nolting or Mark Stelter Facility Use-Deacon. If you have any concerns and or questions on the policy, guidelines, and forms please feel free to contact a deacon and / or council member. It is crucial that Immanuel be responsible for providing safe facilities for its members, protecting our ministry, while properly operating, maintaining, and caring for its property. 14
