WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS Sam Palpant PRELUDE Seeking God s Light Organ Beatrice Miller CALL TO WORSHIP Jesus Christ summons us to answer God s call of mercy. Christ gathers us and gives us power to be healed and to heal, to be forgiven and to forgive, to be freed from sin and to set others free, to tell one another and the world: God s presence is at hand. Let us worship God. Sam Palpant *SONGS OF WORSHIP: IN CHRIST ALONE In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song; This Cornerstone, this solid Ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, When fears are stilled, when strivings cease. My Comforter, my All in All, Here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone! Who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless babe!

This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones he came to save: Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied - For every sin on him was laid; Here in the death of Christ I live. There in the ground his body lay Light of the world by darkness slain: Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave he rose again! And as he stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me, For I am his and he is mine - Bought with the precious blood of Christ. No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me; From life's first cry to final breath. Jesus commands my destiny. No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from his hand; Till he returns or calls me home, Here in the power of Christ I'll stand. Bless the Lord, bless the Lord, bless the Lord, O my soul, for the grace that redeems, for the love that makes whole; O come and adore him, his glories proclaim, and worship before him the Lord is his name! (VERSE 2) Sing praise to the Savior, Redeemer and Friend, for grace past all telling, for love without end;

who stripped off his glory, put on mortal sin, and died in our stead, full atonement to win. (VERSE 3) Sing praise to the Spirit, the gift of God s love, who quickens our hearts with new life from above, who woos us, subdues us, and seals us his own, and faultless presents us before the White Throne. (VERSE 4) Sing praise to the Father, sing praise to the Son, sing praise to the Spirit, great God Three in One; the God of salvation, of glory, of grace, who wrought our redemption my soul, sing his praise! Bless the Lord, bless the Lord, bless the Lord, O my soul, for the grace that redeems, for the love that makes whole; O come and adore him, his glories proclaim, and worship before him the Lord is his name! TIME OF PRAYER Judy Potter Call to Confession The mystery of God brings the promise of life, but we doubt the Spirit s power to overcome death. The resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son, reveals that nothing is impossible with God. Let us confess our sin and receive new life. Prayer of Confession Triune God, Holy Three, Holy One, we confess that we do not know how to look for you.

We do not sense your nearness, and if there are angels among us, we are unaware. We do not show the hospitality to strangers that Abraham showed to you. We do not trust that our hardships can be transformed by your Spirit. O Covenant-keeper, forgive us. Let us laugh with joy because your grace has made peace among us. Send us out with this good news so that others will also receive your blessing; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. [Silent Prayer] Declaration of Forgiveness Christ gave his life to save us from the wrath of God. Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Trust the good news of the gospel: in Jesus Christ our sins are forgiven. SONG OF WORSHIP: YOU ARE MY KING (AMAZING LOVE) (VERSE 1) I'm forgiven Because you were forsaken I'm accepted You were condemned I'm alive and well, your Spirit is within me Because you died and rose again (CHORUS) Amazing love, how can it be That you my King would die for me Amazing love, I know it's true It's my joy to honor you please remain seated

Don Meekhof OFFERING OF OURSELVES & OUR GIFTS Judy Potter Invitation to the Offering Jesus gathered the disciples and gave them authority to heal the sick, cast out evil, and proclaim the good news. Let us present our offerings for the mission of the church, bearing witness to the kingdom of God. *Doxology Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below Praise him above ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. Prayer of Thanksgiving/Dedication Blessed Trinity, three-part harmony, in you those who sing for joy revel in your glory, and those who cry in pain find comfort in their sorrow. Thank you for being God with us. Thank you for keeping your promises to our faith ancestors and to us. Thank you for coming near to us in your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank you for hope that brings life through the inpouring of your Holy Spirit. Thank you for the love you hold up before the world on the cross of Christ our Savior.

Even our offerings come from the fruits of your blessings. Praise to you, O Holy God! Thanks to you, O Holy Three! Glory to your name, O God Most High! Amen. Bringing our gifts and / or lighting a candle Please feel free to go to either the front or the rear of the sanctuary. The children are excused at this time to attend Junior Chapel. Offertory The Spirit Sings Organ Colin Curtis SCRIPTURE READINGS Genesis 18:1 15 (NIV) Chenayla Welch 1 The Lord appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day. 2 Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground. 3 He said, If I have found favor in your eyes, my lord, do not pass your servant by. 4 Let a little water be brought, and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree. 5 Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way now that you have come to your servant. Very well, they answered, do as you say. 6 So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah. Quick, he said, get three seahs of the finest flour and knead it and bake some bread. 7 Then he ran to the herd and selected a choice, tender calf and gave it to a servant, who hurried to prepare it. 8 He then brought some curds and milk and the calf that had been prepared, and set these before them. While they ate, he stood near them under a tree. 9 Where is your wife Sarah? they asked him. There, in the tent, he said. 10 Then one of them said, I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.

Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him. 11 Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. 12 So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure? 13 Then the Lord said to Abraham, Why did Sarah laugh and say, Will I really have a child, now that I am old? 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son. 15 Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, I did not laugh. But he said, Yes, you did laugh. John 12:1 11 (NIV) Misty Rowley 1 Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2 Here a dinner was given in Jesus honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. 3 Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4 But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5 Why wasn t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year s wages. 6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it. 7 Leave her alone, Jesus replied. It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. 8 You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me. 9 Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. 10 So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, 11 for

on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him. MESSAGE Mt. Gleason Jason Stuart *SONG OF WORSHIP: JESUS, STAND AMONG US (Hymn #803) (VERSE 1) Jesus, stand among us in your risen power; let this time of worship be a hallowed hour. (VERSE 2) Breathe the Holy Spirit into every heart; bid the fears and sorrows from each soul depart. Amen.
