PRAYER OF CONFESSION Be Still and Know Lord Jesus, Light of the world, Word of Peace, surround us and fill us with your Spirit: instill in us discernment to see what is good, faith to abide in your truth, courage to do what is just. In need of forgiveness, in need of healing, in need of hope, we look to you as the Way, the Truth, and the Life in our lives and in our world. Lord Jesus, Bread of Life, Wine of the soul, nourish us in your mercy and feed us with your grace. Be Still and Know ~ repeat as above Text and music: Barbara Bridge 2005, All rights reserved. SERMON God My Refuge PRAYER FOR BLESSING silent meditation *CONFESSION OF FAITH from the Belhar Confession 1986, South Africa We believe in the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who gathers, protects and cares for the Church by Word and Spirit, as God has done since the beginning of the world and will do to the end. We believe in one holy, universal Christian Church, the communion of saints called from the entire human family. We believe that God has entrusted to the Church the message of reconciliation in and through Jesus Christ; that the Church is called to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world; that the Church is called blessed because it is a peacemaker; that the Church is witness both by word and by deed to the new heaven and the new earth in which righteousness dwells. We believe that the Church must witness against and strive against any form of injustice, so that justice may roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. Jesus is Lord. To the one and only God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be the honor and the glory for ever and ever. 5

Words of Institution The Communion To be served communion, please come forward as guided by the ushers, exiting on your left and returning on your right. You will be invited to take the bread and dip it in the cup. Feel free to pause and reflect after receiving the elements. To be served in the pew, please speak to an usher. The Reformed Church in America welcomes baptized children to receive the sacrament of communion. Hope Church encourages parents to decide whether they wish their children to partake of the sacrament. Parents are asked to accompany their children forward, indicating if they wish their children to receive the bread and cup. Draw the Circle Wide Draw the circle wide, draw it wider still. Let this be our song: no one stands alone standing side by side. Draw the circle wide. God the still point of the circle round whom all creation turns. Nothing lost, but held together in God s gracious arms. Let our hearts touch far horizons, so encompass great and small; Let our loving know no borders faithful to God s call. Let the dream we dreamed be larger than we ever dreamed before; Let the dream of Christ be in us, open every door.
