Soul (Hebrew): Nepesh. It is defined as: A soul, living being, life, soul, person, desire, passion, appetite, and emotion.
In the Old Testament the word soul is the Hebrew word Xpn (nepesh) and it really had to do with life when they talked about soul they tended to mean your whole life you just loved God with your whole life (your inner life primarily). So, to the Hebrews loving God with your soul was an inner thing
not an external religion and it was primarily a life kind of thing. Jews historically interpreted love God with all your Xpn as loving God to the point of sacrificing our lives for Him. - John Beverton
Genesis 2:7, Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
The soul literally is the part of us that defines who we are. The essence of the biblical definition for soul means life, personality, the inner self and our identity. It s where we make our decisions and choices that ultimately decide our lifestyle and behavior. Think of the soul as the core you. - Greg Simas
It s connected to your heart, but it s much bigger than just affection. It s much bigger than feelings. It s about loving God so much that you give your life completely back to Him.
Along with our hearts, we are called to love Yahweh with all our soul. In the first five books of the Old Testament the soul refers to one s whole being as a living person, which includes one s heart but is so much more. Moses starts with a call to love God from within and then moves one step larger saying that everything about us as a person is to
declare Yahweh as Lord. So we are to love God with our passions, hungers, perceptions, and thoughts. But we are also to love him with how we talk, and what we do with our hands, and how we utilize our talents, and how we react to challenges our entire being is to display that we love God. - Jason DeRouchie
the soul is your whole inner life as a person your whole inner nature. To love God with all your soul is to love God with your entire inner life.god wants a kind of love that saturates us. God wants the kind of love that permeates every part of us and unites us into one great lover of God. - John Beverton

Galatians 5:16-17, 22-25, But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. 17 For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
While loving God with all your heart is about affection, loving God with all your soul is about devotion. It s about devoting yourself and committing your inner man, your life, the core of who you are to God.
