Radical Authority Jesus had authority over things in the natural world like the wind and food, but he also had authority over things in the spiritual world like demons. Jesus not only wants us to recognise that he has authority, but he also wants us to submit to his authority. Read either Luke 8:22-25, 8:26-39, or 9:10-17 and answer the fo#owing questions: 1.What is the problem that Jesus fixes in this story? 2.What does Jesus do to fix it? 3.How do those around Jesus respond when they see this miracle? 4.How was he able to perform this miracle? 5.Do you think Jesus actually did this? Radical Followers Jesus taught that those who wanted to follow him must give up their lives to do so. According to Jesus, this is the only way to be saved. According to Jesus, following him will not be easy but it will be worth it. Read Luke 9:18-27 and answer the fo#owing questions: 1.Who did Peter say that Jesus was? 2.What did Jesus say we must do if we want to follow him? 3.What do you think this looks like practically? 4.What according to Jesus will happen if we do not follow him? 5.In light of what Jesus says in verse 23, do you think you are a follower of Jesus? Radical Death Jesus died on the cross even though he was God s perfect son who had never sinned. Although this looked like defeat, it was actually victory. On the cross Jesus absorbed God s anger against our sin securing forgiveness for all who put their trust in him. This criminal is just one example! Radical Resurrection Three days after his death, Jesus rose physically from the dead and appeared to his disciples. They touched him and he ate with them as proof that he was not a ghost. Through his resurrection, Jesus conquered death and he now reigns as the King of the universe next to his father God in heaven. Radical Ascension After fourty days, Jesus ascended into heaven as the King of the universe where he reigns to this day. He wants you to repent of your sin, ask for forgiveness and follow him as your Lord and Saviour!
