I would also like to express my gratitude to the organizing committees for their time and effort. I would like to congratulate everyone for the organization of this scientific event and express my gratitude for the endless support given to all sectors of the Armed forces by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Commander in Chief, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and by HRH the Minister of Defense, Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, and by the Deputy Minister of Defense, Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz. The role played by the Armed Forces Medical Services General Directorate has been one of utmost importance ever since its foundation over sixty years ago. This has led to trust and support from the Saudi government which has placed its focus on the importance of scientific development to enable the health sectors in the Kingdom to provide those who need it with health care of the highest universal quality and facilitate the means to obtain it. This world event on military medicine reflects the continuous search for progress by developing all it provides; and therefore, the broad participation of different nations offers the opportunity to communicate, collaborate and exchange information and expertise emphasizing its importance in the medical sector. It is but a means through which this sector may reach its ultimate goal of providing preventive and curative services and achieve the highest degree of readiness in war as in peace. I hope this Congress achieves its goals wishing you all success and prosperity. 6

We, at the Armed Forces Medical Services General Directorate, are honored and delighted by the patronage of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz to this Congress. This Congress, and the areas it covers, proves that these kinds of scientific events are important for discussion and debate paving the way to achieving our shared goals and reinforcing the significant role the armed forces play both in war and peace.
