I am now in my 6th year at St Augustine and St Mary, and my personnel review will be conducted by the Clergy Office. This is a normal, regularly scheduled review. It has no connection to the current abuse crisis in the Church. Until November 7th there is a survey available on our parish website - www.staugustineoh.org - for you to take part in this personnel review. The Pastoral Council, Finance Council, and Parish Staff also will be surveyed. Then I will meet with Ms. Leigh Stringfellow, Director of Priests Services for the Archdiocese, to go over the results and plan future goals. I appreciate you taking part in this review, because it develops a plan for the future of the parish. If you have any questions about the review, you may ask me or you may ask Leigh Stringfellow at 206-382-4236, leighs@seattlearch.org. Thank you! How to Write to a Bishop about Sexual Abuse of Minors Want to write to a bishop or the Vatican ambassador about the sexual abuse crisis in the United States, but not sure how or what to say? We recommend www.thesiennaproject.org. There you will find sample letters, the addresses of every diocesan U.S. bishop, and the address of the papal nuncio (Vatican ambassador to the U.S.). Father Paul Pluth GO TO: Formed.org Register using Parish Code: G8FJ6Q LET YOUR FAITH GROW! WHAT DOES GOD WANT OF YOU? HOW CAN YOU FIND OUT? WE RE NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR FAITH! NOVENA PRAYER TO MARY, MOTHER OF THE CHURCH October 4 October14, 2018 Mary, Mother of the Church, we stand before you shaken by the scandal and division in the Church that we love. We pray for victims of abuse, whose trust was betrayed and whose innocence was shattered by members of the clergy. We pray for those whose suffering was ignored and for those who were silenced or disbelieved. We pray for Church leaders, that by putting the needs of the vulnerable first, by acting with transparency, and by always holding themselves accountable to God and to the People of God they may regain the trust that has been broken. We pray for ourselves, that the darkness and confusion we feel may give way to light. May we find the way to justice, unity, healing, and hope, through your Son, Jesus, our Lord. Amen. Mary, refuge of sinners, pray for us. Mary, comfort of the troubled, pray for us. Mary, mother of the Church, pray for us. Image: The Mother of Sorrows. St. James Cathedral, Seattle.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE AND HEALING in the wake of the abuse crisis Thursday, October 4, 2018, at 7:00pm St. James Cathedral 804 9th Avenue, Seattle The findings of the Pennsylvania Grand Jury and the news of abuse by Archbishop McCarrick have devastated the Church in recent days and have left many Catholics feeling deeply angry, disturbed, and hurting. Archbishop J. Peter Sartain and auxiliary bishops Eusebio Elizondo and Daniel Mueggenborg invite all the faithful to join in this service in which we will pray for all victims of clergy sexual abuse, ask forgiveness for the sins of action and inaction on the part of Church leaders, and pray for the renewal the Church needs to protect the vulnerable and proclaim Christ s Gospel with transparency and integrity. This service will mark the beginning of a NOVENA OF PRAYER TO MARY, MOTHER OF THE CHURCH throughout the Archdiocese of Seattle. All are encouraged to join in the novena, beginning on the evening of October 4, and concluding with the weekend Masses on October 13 and 14. Visit www.seattlearchdiocese.org to learn more and download the novena prayer. Image: The Mother of Sorrows. St. James Cathedral, Seattle.
