Trinity Topics The monthly newsletter of Trinity Presbyterian Church 3740 E. Sierra Madre Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91107 626-351-8823 or Trinityprespasadena@gmail.com www.trinityprespasadena.org The Rev. Cynthia W. Crowell, Pastor Worship Sundays at 10:00 am To teach, preach, and serve in the city Matthew 11:1 October 2016 Dear Members and Friends, Thank you so much for all of your prayers and well wishes! As most of you probably know, I had surgery to repair my left Achilles tendon on Monday, September 26th. As I write I am on total bed rest, and I will be unable to put any weight on my left leg until at least October 13th. Then I will trade out my current cast for a walking cast. I am grateful to David Tomlinson for preaching and leading worship this Sunday, October 2nd, and to Michael Roffina who will preach on the 9th. So I now find myself in a time of enforced sabbath a time to rest and recuperate, meditate, watch television, and read. I also am going to be trying out a new form of artistic prayer. I am not a very patient patient. It is truly a difficult thing to have to surrender all control and rely on being cared for by other people. It is frustrating but very humbling. And, perhaps I ll learn to be a better care giver through this entire experience. Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! Psalm 41:10 Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Cyndie Crowell

Page 7 EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT REDECORATING OUR NURSERY Ben Bickel, Stanley Bickel's nephew, will be working on his Eagle Scout Project redecorating our church nursery. He hopes to complete this project before mid-november. Ben will be repairing and painting the walls, putting up a new wallpaper border, and washing and checking all of the toys for safety. The Session has approved the purchase of new shelving for toy storage, and the removal the circa 1950 carpeting and replacing it with laminate flooring and an area rug at a projected cost of up to $4,500. We will also be installing new lighting fixtures and curtains. If you would like to make a financial contribution to this project which will be of great benefit to our babies and toddlers you may do so by marking your contribution Nursery Eagle Project and either send it to the church office or place it in the offering plate on Sunday morning. Trinity Presbyterian Church 3740 E. Sierra Madre Blvd. Pasadena, CA 91107 MISSION STATEMENT We are part of the body of Christ, the Church universal. We confess Christ as Lord and promise faithfulness to God. Through the Holy Spirit, we are reminded to whom we belong and in whom we have our constant hope. We worship together in the reformed tradition, claiming the redeeming presence of God in our lives through Christ s death and resurrection as proclaimed in Scripture, and celebrating the sacraments: baptism as a sign of rebirth, and the Lord s supper as a sign of renewal. We recognize and accept the privileges, responsibilities and risks of being Christ s disciples by telling the Good News of Christ in the everyday world, by doing what is just in God s sight, by reaching out to others in God s name, and by being a reconciling community.
