Identifying The Giants Pastr Grant Williams February 22, 2017 - Part 7 Matthew 28:16-20 KJV 16 Then the eleven disciples went away int Galilee, int a muntain where Jesus had appinted them. 17 And when they saw him, they wrshipped him: but sme dubted. 18 And Jesus came and spake unt them, saying, All pwer is given unt me in heaven and in earth. 19 G ye therefre, and teach all natins, baptizing them in the name f the Father, and f the Sn, and f the Hly Ghst: 20 Teaching them t bserve all things whatsever I have cmmanded yu: and, l, I am with yu always, even unt the end f the wrld. Amen. Satan knws it s ur jb and he knws the cmmand as disciples r fllwers/imitatrs f Christ that we are t g make disciples. 1 f 14

Satan knws and s shuld we that as the disciple, fllwer r imitatr f Christ, we shw and prve ur lve by keeping the cmmands. Jhn 14:15-17 KJV 15 If ye lve me, keep my cmmandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give yu anther Cmfrter, that he may abide with yu fr ever; 17 Even the Spirit f truth; whm the wrld cannt receive, because it seeth him nt, neither knweth him: but ye knw him; fr he dwelleth with yu, and shall be in yu. Jesus ministered while here n earth t peple and said there wuld be the prmised hly spirit that wuld nw cme when HE went away. Jhn 16:13 AMPC 13 But when He, the Spirit f Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) cmes, He will guide yu int all the Truth (the whle, full Truth). Fr He will nt speak His wn message [n His wn authrity]; but He will tell whatever He hears [frm the Father; He will give the message that has been given t Him], and He will annunce and declare t yu the things that are t cme [that will happen in the future]. Jesus said, He prmised that the Hly Spirit wuld guide them int truth, give them pwer, give them bldness t witness and make disciples. That bldness is by yu and I, ding ur part, the cmmands f Christ which can nly be knwn and dne by knwing and reading the Wrd. 2 f 14

Acts 1:8 AMPC 8 But yu shall receive pwer (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Hly Spirit has cme upn yu, and yu shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and t the ends (the very bunds) f the earth. The hly spirit quickens us, empwers us, if we let Him, t nt just recite the Wrd, but t live it. The fruit f the spirit, stp repeating the sin frm the ld nature, acting, speaking and living like a new creatin made in the image f Jesus Christ. Rmans 8:1-20 AMPC 1 Therefre, [there is] nw n cndemnatin (n adjudging guilty f wrng) fr thse wh are in Christ Jesus, wh live [and] walk nt after the dictates f the flesh, but after the dictates f the Spirit. 2 Fr the law f the Spirit f life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law f ur new being] has freed me frm the law f sin and f death. 3 Fr Gd has dne what the Law culd nt d, [its pwer] being weakened by the flesh [the entire nature f man withut the Hly Spirit]. Sending His wn Sn in the guise f sinful flesh and as an ffering fr sin, [Gd] cndemned sin in the flesh [subdued, vercame, deprived it f its pwer ver all wh accept that sacrifice], 4 S that the righteus and just requirement f the Law might be fully met in us wh live and mve nt in the ways f the flesh but in the ways f the Spirit [ur lives gverned nt by the standards and accrding t the dictates f the flesh, but cntrlled by the Hly Spirit]. 3 f 14

5 Fr thse wh are accrding t the flesh and are cntrlled by its unhly desires set their minds n and pursue thse things which gratify the flesh, but thse wh are accrding t the Spirit and are cntrlled by the desires f the Spirit set their minds n and seek thse things which gratify the [Hly] Spirit. 6 Nw the mind f the flesh [which is sense and reasn withut the Hly Spirit] is death [death that cmprises all the miseries arising frm sin, bth here and hereafter]. But the mind f the [Hly] Spirit is life and [sul] peace [bth nw and frever]. 7 [That is] because the mind f the flesh [with its carnal thughts and purpses] is hstile t Gd, fr it des nt submit itself t Gd s Law; indeed it cannt. 8 S then thse wh are living the life f the flesh [catering t the appetites and impulses f their carnal nature] cannt please r satisfy Gd, r be acceptable t Him. 9 But yu are nt living the life f the flesh, yu are living the life f the Spirit, if the [Hly] Spirit f Gd [really] dwells within yu [directs and cntrls yu]. But if anyne des nt pssess the [Hly] Spirit f Christ, he is nne f His [he des nt belng t Christ, is nt truly a child f Gd]. 10 But if Christ lives in yu, [then althugh] yur [natural] bdy is dead by reasn f sin and guilt, the spirit is alive because f [the] righteusness [that He imputes t yu]. 11 And if the Spirit f Him Wh raised up Jesus frm the dead dwells in yu, [then] He Wh raised up Christ Jesus frm the dead will als restre t life yur mrtal (shrt-lived, perishable) bdies thrugh His Spirit Wh dwells in yu. The phrase, restre t life here in the Amplified Versin is the wrd quicken in the riginal King James manuscript. 4 f 14

Quicken Defined: 1828 Webster s Dictinary 1. t make alive; t vivify; t revive r resuscitate, as frm death r an inanimate state. Rmans 8:11 KJV 11 But if the Spirit f him that raised up Jesus frm the dead dwell in yu, he that raised up Christ frm the dead shall als quicken yur mrtal bdies by his Spirit that dwelleth in yu. 12 S then, brethren, we are debtrs, but nt t the flesh [we are nt bligated t ur carnal nature], t live [a life ruled by the standards set up by the dictates] f the flesh. 13 Fr if yu live accrding t [the dictates f] the flesh, yu will surely die. But if thrugh the pwer f the [Hly] Spirit yu are [habitually] putting t death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prmpted by the bdy, yu shall [really and genuinely] live frever. 14 Fr all wh are led by the Spirit f Gd are sns f Gd. 15 Fr [the Spirit which] yu have nw received [is] nt a spirit f slavery t put yu nce mre in bndage t fear, but yu have received the Spirit f adptin [the Spirit prducing snship] in [the bliss f] which we cry, Abba (Father)! Father! 16 The Spirit Himself [thus] testifies tgether with ur wn spirit, [assuring us] that we are children f Gd. 17 And if we are [His] children, then we are [His] heirs als: heirs f Gd and fellw heirs with Christ [sharing His inheritance with Him]; nly we must share His suffering if we are t share His glry. 5 f 14

18 [But what f that?] Fr I cnsider that the sufferings f this present time (this present life) are nt wrth being cmpared with the glry that is abut t be revealed t us and in us and fr us and cnferred n us! 19 Fr [even the whle] creatin (all nature) waits expectantly and lngs earnestly fr Gd s sns t be made knwn [waits fr the revealing, the disclsing f their snship]. 20 Fr the creatin (nature) was subjected t frailty (t futility, cndemned t frustratin), nt because f sme intentinal fault n its part, but by the will f Him Wh s subjected it [yet] with the hpe Satan knws yu have this pwer available t yu and the cmmand that yu have s he will cme up against the disciple f Christ and try t stp the gspel seed/message frm being shared nt just by muth but by actins as well. Our actins can als be described as hw we live at wrk, hme, with friends r when n ne is arund. 1 Jhn 3:18 AMPC 18 Little children, let us nt lve [merely] in thery r in speech but in deed and in truth (in practice and in sincerity). James 1:22 AMPC 22 But be ders f the Wrd [bey the message], and nt merely listeners t it, betraying yurselves [int deceptin by reasning cntrary t the Truth]. 6 f 14

Clssians 3:17 AMPC 17 And whatever yu d [n matter what it is] in wrd r deed, d everything in the name f the Lrd Jesus and in [dependence upn] His Persn, giving praise t Gd the Father thrugh Him. Clssians 3:23 AMPC 23 Whatever may be yur task, wrk at it heartily (frm the sul), as [smething dne] fr the Lrd and nt fr men, Gd has requirements t be in His Kingdm. We dn t dictate what the requirements are. We dn t get t vte, we can t gather t urselves teachers wh say we can change Gds Wrd r spin a little bit f truth and then still change Gds Wrd. While we are ding Gd s Wrk, where ever He has called us t d ur sjurning, ur temprary assignment, there will be Jezebels. We ve been studying Jezebel and the characteristics f Jezebel in the Old and New Testament and we knw it shuts peple dwn wh are living a life pleasing t Gd. The imitatrs f Christ wh are wrking in the Kingdm Of Gd and specifically it will target men in rder t keep them quiet and fcused n their wrk, hbbies - anything but Kingdm wrk. We need t pray fr the men - the enemy wants them crushed, t remain in sin, t g back t their sinful habits, t be caught in the traps that satan has laid ut. This isn t an excuse fr men, I m ne, it s a realizatin f what the enemy is trying t d - get the man and destry the marriage, the business, the church we need t pray in victry and nt in defeat. 7 f 14

Fr all f us, we will have great victrius times in ur lives bth spiritually and naturally. Life is gd when: children, jb, relatinships, mney meet ur expectatins. Gd prvides all ur needs and in abundance in certain areas at different times. Then, the enemy cmes in when yu get fcused n smething ther then Gds will and plan fr yur life - gd r bad. Yu becme tempted in an area and yu give in because f. We all have weaknesses and we need t identify them. Fear is ften the fill in the blank space rt. Fear is the ppsite f faith. Fear is energy draining; Faith is energy prducing. We all need t feed ur faith by reading Gds Wrd. Fear tlerated is Faith cntaminated S, lets pick up ur stry abut Elijah, King Ahab and Jezebel where we left ff last week. Remember, this was a victrius time in Elijah s walk with Gd. Wherever his ft tuched (where Gd tld him t g) nt where he wanted t g but where Gd wanted him t g was His (Gd s) and his (Elijah) fr the glry and Kingdm f Gd. Elijah had tld King Ahab (picture f the church) that their sin wuld bring a draught. King Ahab had lked the ther way and had allwed the peple t wrship Gd in ways that Gd said was evil, false, and punishable. 8 f 14

King Ahab said t Elijah (muthpiece f Gd), yu ve been saying this a lng time and nthing has happened yet. The kingdm has mney/prvisin, s I will cntinue as I have been. Jezebel was leading these grupings f peple and multiplying that same spirit f deceptin and false wrship, secular wrship by getting mre teachers t fllwer her. A drught came, Elijah tk ff and was fed by ravens, a jewish wman wh gave him the first f her prvisin (tithe) and he healed her sn. Gd was prviding even in the wilderness. Elijah cmmanded by Gd, came back t speak t King Ahab and have a shw dwn f the false gd and the ONE TRUE GOD. The altar that Elijah prepared was cnsumed with fire frm heaven and all the false prphets, 850 were killed. The peple realized they were fllwing false teachers, a false way f wrship and killed ff the ld nature and ld ways f living. We ended last week with the celebratin f the draught ending. Elijah full f pwer, a spiritually and naturally victrius time 1 Kings 19:1-3 KJV 1 And Ahab tld Jezebel all that Elijah had dne, als hw he had executed all the prphets with the swrd. 2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger t Elijah, saying, "S let the gds d t me, and mre als, if I d nt make yur life as the life f ne f them by tmrrw abut this time." 3 And when he saw that, he arse and ran fr his life, and went t Beersheba, which belngs t Judah, and left his servant there. 9 f 14

Elijah - Key Pints f 1 Kings 19:1-3 Lk at Elijah, t this pint he was "the man" But all f a sudden this ttally changes because f ne wrd f adversity Yu wuld think after all the Lrd had just used him t d, Elijah wuld nt have flinched But this was an especially evil attack - spirit f Jezebel Jezebel represents a wicked spirit, a spirit f cntrl, manipulatin, intimidatin and rebellin Jezebel represents bndage and destructin 1 Kings 19:4 KJV 4 But he himself went a day s jurney int the wilderness, and came and sat dwn under a brm tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, "It is enugh! Nw, LORD, take my life, fr I am n better than my fathers!" Elijah - Key Pints f 1 Kings 19:4 Easy fr us t say, "what a wimp, what a winer!" Have any f us called fire dwn frm Heaven, r utran hrses fr 16 miles? N matter hw lng yu have walked with Gd, yu are still subject t attack Even Elijah had a breaking pint in the natural Perhaps Elijah expected Gd t fully purge idlatry frm the land He thught that Jezebel wuld flee after she heard what happened t all the false prphets 10 f 14

1 Kings 19:5-6 KJV 5 Then as he lay and slept under a brm tree, suddenly an angel tuched him, and said t him, "Arise and eat." 6 Then he lked, and there by his head was a cake baked n cals, and a jar f water. S he ate and drank, and lay dwn again. Elijah - Key Pints f 1 Kings 19:5-6 Thank Gd! He meets us at ur pint f weakness Withut cndemnatin, withut frustratin, withut anger, withut disgust just pure cmpassin Gd ministers encuragement t His peple and nt just a rebuke 1 Kings 19:7-8 KJV 7 And the angel f the LORD came back the secnd time, and tuched him, and said, "Arise and eat, because the jurney is t great fr yu." 8 S he arse, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength f that fd frty days and frty nights as far as Hreb, the muntain f Gd. Elijah - Key Pints f 1 Kings 19:7 Again, He fasts and travels 40 days and nights The Spirit f Lrd was n Him even if he didn t "feel" like it 11 f 14

1 Kings 19:9-10 KJV 9 And there he went int a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behld, the wrd f the LORD came t him, and He said t him, "What are yu ding here, Elijah?" 10 S he said, "I have been very zealus fr the LORD Gd f hsts; fr the children f Israel have frsaken Yur cvenant, trn dwn Yur altars, and killed Yur prphets with the swrd. I alne am left; and they seek t take my life." Elijah - Key Pints f 1 Kings 19:9-10 This may sund like cmplaining but I am glad that My Gd wants t "reasn tgether" Elijah is in this cave (having a melt-dwn), He is in bndage and the Wrd f the Lrd is abut t SET HIM FREE 1 Kings 19:11-12 KJV 11 Then He said, "G ut, and stand n the muntain befre the LORD." And behld, the LORD passed by, and a great and strng wind tre int the muntains and brke the rcks in pieces befre the LORD, but the LORD was nt in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was nt in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was nt in the fire; and after the fire a still small vice. 12 f 14

Elijah - Key Pints f 1 Kings 19:11-12 S many times we miss the Wrd f the Lrd because we lk fr the fantastic But we have the Hly Spirit within us Elijah gt a glimpse f what we can enjy every day 1 Kings 19:13 KJV 13 S it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went ut and std in the entrance f the cave. Suddenly a vice came t him, and said, "What are yu ding here, Elijah?" Elijah - Key Pints f 1 Kings 19:13 Gd asks him a 2nd time The Lrd is saying, "what are yu ding here?" In this place f bndage, fear, depressin, lneliness, cnfusin? This is nt where yu belng 1 Kings 19:14 KJV 14 And he said, "I have been very zealus fr the LORD Gd f hsts; because the children f Israel have frsaken Yur cvenant, trn dwn Yur altars, and killed Yur prphets with the swrd. I alne am left; and they seek t take my life." 15 Then the LORD said t him: "G, return n yur way 13 f 14

Elijah - Key Pints f 1 Kings 19:14-15 Gd sent him back t minister in His pwer The Lrd wanted him t minister ut f His need He didn t say take a break Elijah, He said, "g and return n yur way." He encurages him & gives new instructins He even tells him t take n a trainee Elisha This trainee, Elisha is als called a disciple. This disciple, is als called an ally. This ally is als called a remnant. This is hw Gd intended fr us t multiply and t stay in line with His perfect plan and will and He still intends fr His Kingdm t expand tday the same way. 14 f 14
