January 31, 2016 Praise & Worship: I will Sing/ To our God / I know who I am CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: Listen carefully, everyone! God has given us work to do. People: God has called each of us before we were even born. Leader: It was God who named us. People: It is God who claims us. Leader: The light of God s love shines in us. People: Let s shine God s love into all the world! HYMN OF PRAISE -No. 1 - #22 Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness 1. Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness, Bow down before Him, His glory proclaim; Gold of obedience and incense of lowliness, Bring and adore Him the Lord is His Name. 2. Low at His feet lay your burden of carefulness, High on His heart He will bear it for you; Comfort your sorrows and answer your prayerfulness, Guiding your steps in the best way for you. 3. Fear not to enter His courts in the slenderness Of the poor wealth you would reckon to own; Truth in its beauty, and love in its tenderness, These are the offerings to lay on His shrine. 4. These though we bring them in trembling and fearfulness, He will accept for the Name that is dear, Mornings of joy give for evenings of tearfulness, Trust for our trembling, and hope for our fear. 5. Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness, Bow down before Him, His glory proclaim; Gold of obedience and incense of lowliness, Bring and adore Him the Lord is His Name. [J S B Monsell: ]
PRAYER OF ADORATION & THANKSGIVING RESPONSIVE READING - Leader: He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers. People: For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. Leader: These things command and teach. Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. People: Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Leader: Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. People: Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that they profiting may appear to all. Leader: Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them; for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself and them that hear thee. People: Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Leader: But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. ALL: As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. SONG OF WORSHIP A. SCRIPTURE READINGS - [OT] Genesis 49: 1,2 and 22-26 [read by Sebrena Stewart] [NT] 1Cor. 12: 20 31 [read by Evad Campbell] HYMN OF MEDITATION No. 2 #352 O Jesus, I have promised 1. O Jesus, I have promised 3. O let me hear you speaking to serve you to the end, in accents clear and still, be now and ever near me, above the storms of passion my master and my friend; the murmurs of self-will I shall not fear the battle O speak to reassure me, if you are by my side, to hasten or control; nor wander from the pathway O speak, and make me listen, if you will be my guide. O guardian of my soul. 2. O let me feel you near me 4. O Jesus, you have promised the world is ever near; to all who follow you, I see the sights that dazzle, that where you are in glory the tempting sounds I hear; your servant shall be too; my foes are ever near me, and Jesus, I have promised around me and within; to serve you to the end; but, Jesus, draw still nearer, O give me grace to follow, and shield my soul from sin. my master and my friend. 5. O let me see your footmarks, and in them plant my own; my hope to follow truly is in your strength alone; O guide me, call me, draw me, uphold me to the end; and then in heaven receive me, my Saviour and my friend! [J E Bode 1874] SPECIAL MUSICAL ITEM Bro Evad Campbell [Steel Pan Solo] MESSAGE God can use you - Deacon Paulette Ulett HYMN OF RESPONSE - No. 3 - I ll go where you want me to go 1. It may not be on the mountain s height, or over the stormy sea; It may not be at the battle s front my Lord will have need of me; But if by a still, small voice He calls to paths I do not know, I ll answer, dear Lord, with my hand in Thine, I ll go where You want me to go.
REF: I ll go where You want me to go, dear Lord, O er mountain or plain or sea; I ll say what You want me to say, dear Lord, I ll be what You want me to be. 2. Perhaps today there are loving words which Jesus would have me speak; There may be now, in the paths of sin, some wand rer whom I should seek; O Saviour, if Thou wilt be my guide, tho dark and rugged the way, My voice shall echo the message sweet, I ll say what You want me to say. 3. There s surely somewhere a lowly place in earth s harvest fields so wide, Where I may labor thro life s short day for Jesus the Crucified; So, trusting my all unto Thy care, I know thou lovest me, I ll do Thy will with a heart sincere, I ll be what You want me to be.
