The Vision

Focus on...the Pastor s Message page 2 Dear Church Family, These are exciting days at Mt. Carmel. God is moving in our fellowship by sending new members and sending those who are seeking to know if this is the church for them. As I see new life come into our church I am excited for how that will impact not only our church family, but our entire community. The past several weeks in Sunday school we have been focusing on being a connecting and engaging church. I hope you have been challenged as you studied together about how we can become more focused on welcoming people into our church. Our goal is to make sure that we have a Christcentered and inviting atmosphere that will make everyone feel welcome. There are a couple of things that we are going to be working on in the coming weeks that will help us be even more inviting to guests who visit our church. First, we are going to be designating at least 4 parking spaces in front of the church for guest parking. This will be the first sign when a guest arrives on our campus that we are truly excited that they are here and that we are expecting them. Second, we are going to be forming and training people to serve as greeters for each service. When a guest arrives the first thing they need from us is a friendly welcome and instructions on how to get to where they are going. It may be worship, Sunday School, nursery, or some other ministry area. If a friendly face is there to greet them they will feel much more comfortable as they find their place and determine if Mt. Carmel is a place for them. So that leads me to an important question: Who can serve on the greeter ministry team? The first thing a greeter must have is a contagious excitement about your church. It must be someone who is genuinely excited to be here and to welcome new people. You must also have a very outgoing personality. You have to be willing to engage others and lead a conversation with them. You must be able and willing to meet people at their car and then walk them into the building to where they need to go. And, you must be willing to arrive early, stay late, and even be a little inconvenienced for the sake of making a guest feel at home. There are many other characteristics that we ll be talking about in training, but if you think this is a ministry you could fit into, please give me a call or send an email (paul@mcbc.church) to let me know you are interested. We will have a meeting on Monday, October 15 at 7 pm to begin training and preparing for this ministry. In His Love, Pastor Paul

Music Ministry page 3 Dear Church Family, Fall is my favorite time of the year! I love the cooler temperatures, the changing colors of the leaves, football games, the start of the holiday season, and in our family there are lots of Fall birthdays so that means lots of family time! Fall just brings a crisp freshness to the air I believe that s what is happening in our church family too! I believe God is breathing some new and fresh air into our midst. These are exciting days and I m excited about all that God is doing. We have a group of 17 going on our Western Caribbean Cruise in October and a group of 15 ladies from Group 5 going on a retreat in November. Please pray for both of these trips for protection and safety and for God to use us to share His love with those we come in contact with on our trips. We are in the beginning stages of planning our 2019 bus trip The Best of Texas. Be watching for more information in the next several weeks! Ladies, I have several Ladies Night Out events planned in the coming months. Be watching the newsletter and bulletin for more information so that you can take part in these nights of fun and fellowship. I have been reminded in the last couple of weeks just how dependent I am on God and His mercy and grace in my life. He is good and faithful and I can t make it for one second without Him. He brings peace, comfort and guidance in all areas of life. I pray that you are walking close to Him and experiencing the joy of being totally dependent on Him. Singing His Praise, Beth Turner
