The Many Different Seasons There are many different seasons In life that we go through, Times of God's blessing and peace And times of hardship too No matter what the season, We find that we are in, God is there to lead us on And give us hope within And when the seasons of hardships Have come into our lives, We can be encouraged by God For our hope is placed in Christ For we know it's only temporary And will change as seasons do, Though it feels like an eternity And we wonder if we'll get through But God's rivers of mercy Flow down from heaven above To bring to us refreshment And to touch us with His love So thank the Lord for the seasons, As different as they are, And for the growth that comes from it, Bringing change within our hearts. By M.S.Lowndes 3

From the Pastor s Desk October 2018 I m a big fan of the fall the cooler weather, the turning leaves on the trees, Ohio State football! The fall is also Stewardship season in the church. We are an all-volunteer army here. The government does not subsidize us (praise the Lord!) and we have no major donor underwriting our activities. It s just us, which is good and the way it should be. What we do is up to us. What we dream up are our own plans and schemes. The money to support this ministry comes from us and no place else. Giving to the Church is a way of responding in gratitude to the God who gives so much to us. From our Jewish heritage we recognize the tithe, 10% of our income. From our Christian foundation we believe that everything we have belongs to God, 100%. We are stewards who manage what the Lord has given to us in the first place. We do not own what has been given to us. The discipline of giving back is part of our responsibility as disciples of Jesus. We want to give him our best and not our leftovers. Think over your own financial life and consider committing a portion of that as a sign of all that God has done for you. Not using up all we have for our own needs is an act of trust, believing that we can depend on the Lord and know he will come through. You will receive a letter if you haven t already with a pledge card enclosed. You will hear a message on stewardship on Oct. 7 th and another presentation on our financial needs on Oct. 14 th. The members of your Session ask that you bring your commitment cards with you on Sunday, Oct. 21 st when we will dedicate our pledges for 2019. From those totals we will form next year s Budget. Be part of something greater than yourself. And may God bless you for it. Rev. Linda McClanahan 4
