THURSDAYS Men s Bible Study 7 am-8 am Men s Bible and Breakfast Classroom: Parish Hall Leader: Shay Gaillard Dates: Sept. 6-Dec. 13 (with breaks) Just ask The Alpha Course Maybe it s a friend, a family member or co-worker. Who would you like to see become a follower of Christ? Perhaps you re already praying for someone in your life to meet Jesus and begin a personal relationship with Him. Maybe you ve shared your faith with them. What next? Invite them to come with you to the next Alpha Course. Alpha creates a unique setting for no pressure evangelism. Think of it as a spiritual night out with friends. Irresistible hospitality + a lively talk + unpressured discussion. A glimpse of Christian fellowship and spiritual connection while safely exploring what they believe. Everything on the Alpha Course is designed to create an intellectually, emotionally, and relationally honest conversation in small groups. Once they ve experienced Alpha, sampled the fellowship, food, and fun in a church setting, most participants want to continue on with their small group. Food. Fellowship. Lively Conversation. Begins Monday Sept. 17 5:30 pm-7:30 pm 5
Small Group FAQs Who can be part of a Small Group? Men, women, young, and old. If you have a desire to grow in your relationship with the Lord, then you are invited (and encouraged) to be part of a Small Group. What typically happens at a Small Group? Each group is a little different, but most Small Groups are built around Scripture, prayer, discussion, fellowship and food. Some Small Groups may choose to study a specific book of the Bible while others will work through discussion questions based on the most recent Sunday sermon at St. Helena s. How often do Small Groups meet? Again, each group is a little different. Some groups meet every week. Some groups meet every other week. Some groups, especially when children are involved, find various patterns of meeting that don t require getting babysitters on a weekly basis. Where do Small Groups meet? For the sake of privacy, most Small Groups meet in homes. Meeting in homes allows for those who have the gift of hospitality to use their gifts. When a home is not available, some Small Groups meet in a restaurant, coffee house, in a local park, or at the church. What if I have questions about faith or don t know much of the Bible? There is not a certain level of Bible knowledge or faith that is a prerequisite for being in a Small Group. Instead, we ask that every attendee simply have the desire to grow in their relationship with God. Questions about faith are respected and encouraged. How do I get in a Small Group? If someone from an existing Small Group invites you to join their group, say yes. Try it out. New Small Groups form throughout the year. Many Small Groups develop out of Alpha. If you have not gone through our Alpha Course, that would be a great first step toward being in a Small Group. You can also contact our Small Groups Coordinator, Rev. Todd Simonis, at 843-522-1712 or TSimonis@StHelenas1712.org. He can help you find a Small Group that would be a great fit for you. 6
