November 8, 2013 On Monday, the entire Early Childhood family gathered together to celebrate Rosh Chodesh Kislev. As the children entered the Indoor Playroom, Morah was singing, Sevivon, sov, sov, sov and twirling around. Once everyone was seated, Morah greeted the children and waited for their response. Then the program began. שלום Nursery! מי בגן? Kindergarten בוקר טוב Pre-K! בוקר טוב Morah Jackie! אני בגן שלום Morah Jackie! Happy Birthday to our Kislev birthday children: Dveer Swissa, Ephraim Jacobson, Pesach Dovid Tuttle, and Tamara Mosbacher. Dancing! Birthday Claps! Adolph Schreiber Hebrew Academy of Rockland 360 New Hempstead Road New City New York 10956 For more information please call Jacqueline Borgen at 845-357-1515 ext:503 or visit us at www.ashar.org
The children sang the Chodesh song as the Morahs held the cards. The children sang sooo beautifully. Donny found the month we were saying goodbye to, it starts with a chet! Tamara found the month we were welcoming, it starts with a kaf! The children sang goodbye to Cheshvan and hello to Kislev. Tamara sang so nicely, Morah let her sing into the microphone! Then it was time to wake up Mitzvah Man! Everyone sang, Do you know the Mitzvah Man and Zippity, do da to wake him up. Mitzvah Man woke up and saw Benji s Kislev crown. We saw the beautiful dreidel patterns and followed it around his crown. Mitzvah Man started to twirl around like the Sevivon. He twirled faster and faster and then, oh, oh! He fell! Morah Jackie went to help him, but he was crying and in pain. He said he couldn t move his arm! Morah went looking for the first aid kit. She wrapped up his arm and Morah Debbie quickly took him to Nurse Trish. Now that Mitzvah Man was on his way to be checked out, Morah asked the children what they could do for Mitzvah Man to make him feel better when he returned. The children had so many wonderful responses, Sing him Refuah Shelaima, give him a toy, give him a teddy bear, etc.
Call and sing Refuah Shelaima! Give Mitzvah Man a teddy bear. Shalom Nurse Trish! Then Nurse Trish and Morah Debbie returned with Mitzvah Man. Nurse Trish told us that Mitzvah Man went to the hospital where they took an x-ray and saw that he broke his arm. She showed us Mitzvah Man s cast and told us that he could not play on the playground for 6 weeks. He had to let his arm heel! Nurse Trish told us we would have to help take care of him and could even read him a book to help him feel better! We discussed how Mitzvah Man got to the hospital (an ambulance), and how scared he must have been. What can we do to help him? Quickly the children who were holding teddy bears came and gave them to Mitzvah Man to make him feel better. Then everyone sang the Refuah Shelaima song.
When Mitzvah Man saw the teddy bears, it really cheered him up! But he was exhausted from the hospital trip and was ready to take a nap. Morah then taught the children about a BIG Mitzvah they will be part of for the next 2 months. We will be collecting brand new teddy bears to cheer up the children in the Children s Hospital in Israel. Eliyanah told us all about how a children s hospital helps children (like her baby brother) get better. They have doctors and toys for the children to make them get better and feel happy! ASHAR will be partnering with Yad Eliezer to deliver brand new teddy bears (only new bears will be accepted because we need to be careful with germs) to the children in Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Eretz Yisrael. We will be doing this Chesed project in conjunction with this month s Mitzvah of Bikur Cholim. The culmination of this project will be Motzei Shabbat Parshat Vayechei, December 14th. Michal then found our new Mitzvah in Mitzvah Man s house, Bikur Cholim! The children all received stickers as they sang goodbye to Mitzvah Man. Thank you for making me feel better! Bikur Cholim Stickers!
We asked the children, What was your favorite part of the Rosh Chodesh assembly? Here are some of their answers: I was so sad when Mitzvah Man broke his hand. I liked when Morah Jackie was holding the dreidel and singing a Chanukah song. I liked when the nurse brought Mitzvah Man back with a cast. I liked when Mitzvah Man broke his arm and we sang him Refuah Shelaima to make him feel better. I liked when Nurse Trish brought back Mitzvah Man. I liked when Mitzvah Man was spinning around and he fell.
After the assembly, the PreK and Kindergarten classes met with Mrs. Debby Jacobson in the gym where we continued to talk about the teddy bear Chesed project. The children דובי, דובי, song, watched an Israeli bear video with the famous. דובי The children then went to different work stations. At one station they made chocolate bear pops to eat and enjoy, and at the second station they made Refuah Shelaima Bear cards to send to the children in Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. Our Nursery children had a special visit from the 8th grade girls who helped them put together their Bear Pops.
Dear Morot, It s such a pleasure to us to hear Talia speak in such beautiful ways and use her Lashon Tov. Talia talks nicely to everyone in the family. It makes us so proud of her and so happy that she has such amazing morot who are great examples of this concept. Thank you! Talia s Family Dear Wonderful Morahs, Chevy came home so excited this week! She presented to us her beautiful projects that she did on her own and she shared with us all the wonderful things she learned this week. She told us about Morah Odeliya and the Hebrew she learned. We are so proud! Chevy is a big Mitzvah girl. She is the best! Thank You! Dear Morahs, Last week Raizy went to the doctor and wasn t too happy to be there. The Dr. tried everything to make Raizy smile, but nothing worked. Mommy and Abba played a message from N-A for Raizy where all the boys and girls in her class sang a feel better song for her. That made Raizy break out into a BIG smile. The Dr. was so impressed with Raizy s class for doing such a big Mitzvah by making a sick person happy. The Dr. asked Raizy what school she went to and Raizy responded happily, Why ASHAR of course! Thank you for teaching our daughter the important Mitzvah of making a sick person happy.
