FELLOWSHIP CUMBERLAND PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH MOUNTAIN HOME, ARKANSAS January 2017 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. P A G E 3 As I See It J A N U A R Y 2 0 1 6 Kim and I are fortunate to have the life that we live. I have a wonderful wife who works along beside me. We have very few physical ailments. We have a good income. We have good working conditions. We have several people who we can call on to do tasks which are needed to be done from time to time. We have a very nice manse in which to live and call home. We have plenty of food. We have loyal friends. We have the trust of the congregation. I have a session with whom I am able to work. I could continue on until you are nauseated, but we do have a good life and have much for which to be thankful. In order for these things to work and work together well, it requires that we each put our best foot forward each and every day. We must work, plan and follow through with our commitments on a daily basis. For many, we absolutely need to put out best effort forward to help many who need us like never before. We all have friends and acquaintances who need to be a part of a Christian church. They need to hear the Gospel and how it will make a difference in their lives. Their children need to hear and understand that Jesus has a plan for their lives. Make a commitment to give time in service of the Lord in your sphere of influence. There are those who go to the Food Basket, Food Bank and other food services as well as Ozark Opportunity. These people need the services which are provided by these agencies and others. The church and individuals reach out to those who are not as fortunate as others. They need the support which we give them through food, blankets, fans, heaters and other basic needs as well as they need the love of the Christ through the spoken word. The encouragement you give may give that person the impetus to move on to a higher level of confidence and caring. This may help move from just existing to reaching a level of working from paycheck to paycheck. He may then have the desire for further financial achievement. Your encouragement is indeed important. Daily give encouragement through your Christian witness. CHALLENGE: Make 2017 a year in which church attendance and worship become a priority and not a secondary destination. Remember that you need it. Your spouse needs it. Your children need it. If the whole world just took off a few hours each week and focused on keeping the main thing the main thing, how much greater would the Kingdom of GOD be. Be ready to do His will every day and let Him shine through you daily. Pray for Kim and me everyday as we work together with you. We have to have a desire to do what GOD would present to us. We all must study daily so that we will be better prepared to do the Kingdom's work. Come and join us this Sunday. Let us worship the Lord in truth and holiness. Because of the Christ who loves us so, Bro. Gary If anyone would like to help make Chrismon ornaments for next year s Christmas tree, see Gay King.
December Activities Caroling Young At Heart You can tell by those smiles that everyone loves to get a toy, even when they don t get to keep it! Names were drawn for a gift exchange that involved selecting a toy for the recipient that matched their interests or personality. After all the items were unwrapped and smiled over they were donated to the Salvation Army to give some kids a brighter Christmas.
Choir Party Music, food, presents and fellowship what more could you ask for? Maybe a little thievery among friends?
