ABOUT THE 2ND JOCC YOU BELONG HERE The 2nd National Jews of Color Convening (JOCC) is an initiative of Jewish Multiracial Network (JMN), sponsored by the Jews of Color (JOC) Field Building Grant. The JOCC was created in 2016 uniquely for JOCs, for JOC families, and JOC communities. Our goals are to enrich Jewish life for JOCs, and to strategically strengthen the Jewish community at large. Together, we will create a forum dedicated to building a new JOC-inspired Jewish future. You, too, can be a part of this historic event! NETWORK & FORGE A JOC LEADERSHIP CORPS The theme of the 2018 JOCC is "Building a Jews of Color Leadership Corps." JOC Rabbis, cantors, chaplains, seminarians and Jewish nonprofit professionals, who seldom have the opportunity to experience themselves as a critical mass, are encouraged to attend. JOCs and their families who are interested in starting local JMN chapters in Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC / Baltimore / Arlington (DMV area), Seattle-Tacoma, and Los Angeles are also encouraged to attend. In addition to this year's leadership programming, the 2018 gathering offers returning attendees the ability to foster deeper connections among one another, and for first-time participants to forge important networking connections. Together, attendees will build nationwide connections to help build / increase equity and opportunity for other JOCs. GROW & CREATE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE Through our innovative programming, you will have an opportunity to learn about and envision: Liturgical practices that reflect your own heritage and traditions, BUILDING Leadership and change-management A JEWS OF techniques COLOR within LEADERSHIP Jewish nonprofit organizations, CORPS Examples of Jewish life and institutions which reflect a fuller spectrum of Jewish diversity, Businesses in the Jewish community which are founded and operated by Jews of Color.
