From the Pastor s Desk, On March 22 here at St. Agnes between 125 and 150 men from all walks of life and ages came for the first-ever Catholic Man Night. Bishop Rice began the evening with Man, concelebrated by area priests and deacons. The night continued with a short fellowship time in the gym, which led into a meal and short video of the Knights of Columbus. The evening concluded with a 15-20 minute reflection given by Bishop Rice. The idea began with our Knights of Columbus Council under the direction of the Grand Knight, Keith Nanneman. There are Catholic Man Nights in the southeast area of our Diocese on a bye monthly schedule. In the eastern area of our Diocese the Man s Night is rotated from one parish to another. The evening developed in the Archdiocese of Minneapolis-St. Paul to look at the reasons and needs of why so many Catholic men were not active in their Catholic faith. Over the years they developed the catholic Man Night formula. 1) Men gather to meet Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration and/or liturgy; A priest makes a presentation about Jesus; The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available; There is a man-food feast and fellowship; and time for a discussion on how to better know and imitate Jesus in daily life. The next Springfield-area Catholic Man Night is scheduled for Thursday May 24 at Immaculate Conception Parish here in Springfield, beginning at 6:30 pm. It will be hosted by the Immaculate Conception Knights of Columbus Council along with Fr. Tom Kiefer. I invite all the men of St. Agnes to plan on attending, please RSVP to jerry@jerryjpfankuch.com. Cha Thomas Truyền, CRM Thông Cáo Cộng Đoàn Đức Mẹ Hồn Xác Lên Trời (Announcements of the Vietnamese Comuunity) * Dâng Hoa Tháng Hoa Kính Mẹ Maria của Cộng Đoàn * Dâng Hoà vào Chúa Nhật ngày 06 tháng 05 lúc 9:45 sáng trước Thánh Lễ Việtnam.
