A time to be born, a time to die, a time to plant and a time to gather, a time to weep and a time to laugh." Pursuant to the wisdom of the old Book let us consider. We have passed the customary vacation season, picnics, summer outings and play days are at an end. Come, now it is time to be diligent, a time to be serious, a time for work, a time to advance the program of the Community Church at Stow. I am truly proud of our church membership. The church at Slow has great possibilities, you are a worthy folk, a deserving people, ycu are worthy of success, your Church must live and conquer. Now, sir, the time is at hand, let us go forward. Every one of you that will answer, "yes" and approve this article, then mark, ycu treat seriously the activities I now suggest. First, let us spiritually farm this Stow area for the Church and the Bible School, a systematic canvass, to know the families on your street and if they attend Church or not. Second, two alert members of the women's class to be a committee to quietly report and be a bureau for providing anything needful for the distressed within a mile of the Church, such as shoes, clothes, food, etc. A similar program for the men's class, two men to report to the brotherhood anything we can do for families distressed. Twenty new members for the Community Church by Thanksgiving Fay, twenty more members by Easter Sunday, organization of a mid-week Bible study and prayer meeting, a worth-while assembling cf ourselves between Sundays. A larger per ceht of the Sunday School scholars to attend the Divine Service, a crusade among the young to stick by the Church, teachers, please urge. A monthly meeting of every officer of the Church, that the official board may function monthly, to make an expression of the advisability of a Sunday night service, a revival in your own soul, a renewed interest with a bright, cheerful cutlook for the Church at Stow. A solemn resolve to read the Bible every day and spend two quiet minutes, anywhere, anytime during the day in quiet devotion for the enrichment of your own scul and the favor of the Almighty with the Church. Miss June Myers of McKeesport, Pa., is visiting this week with her uncle, C. W. Stahl, Hudson road. Miss Mannette Ferris last week, Wednesday, entertained a number cf ccuples at her home, Munroe Falls road. Bob Franklin, West Arndale road, is recovering from an attack of pleural pneumonia. Mrs. McCarthy and daughter of Lakewood were visitors at church Sunday. They were charter members of our church. Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Knight and son Harris will spend Sunday and Labor day visiting relatives in De- troit- Mr. George Howard, who is an old engineer from Altoona, Pa., is visiting this week with J. H. Worcester, Diagonal road. Joe Fisher returned Monday from a vacation spent (we were told) at Cask Villa located the other side of Vermillion, Ohio. Reports are that she is having a good time. Mrs. C. F. McColgan, River road, Munroe Falls was in Columbus four days this past week as a delegate to the D. of A. convention. Mrs. Lester Garver, West Arndale road, was called away on Sunday by the serious illness of her father, who resides in Woodsfield, Ohio. This weekend Mr. Oscar (Dick) Zirkle and daughter Eloise expect to visit New Market, Virginia, located in the Shenandoah valley. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoon and evenings of this week Mr. Ganyard will conduct the Exchange Book store at the High School building. Monteith and family attended a Homecoming celebration last weekend at Hannibal, Monroe county, Ohio (the place of his birth). People from as far away as California were t-here. He reports teaching the Ladies' class on Sunday at the Methodist church and, considering everything, had a most enjoyable time. We notice that the firemen have started construction of a building in the far corner of the Stow football field presumably for the reproduction of the grand final spectacle the evening of September 14th. The Ladies' Auxiliary to the Fire Dept. plan on that day to serve two meals to each of the visitors, of whom some one or two thousand are expected. We wonder how they will do it.
