Commissioner, JMC reviews sanitation scenario of Jammu City. Sh. Arvind Kotwal (KAS), Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation took a review of sanitation scenario of Jammu City alongwith Sh. Pardeep Manhas (KAS), Joint Commissioner (A), JMC during which he stated that Jammu Municipal Corporation is essential service provider and sanitation is also one of the essential service that should be provided in such a most effective way throughout the city so that there could no resentment in respect of providing sanitation facility in Jammu City. He directed the Health Officer to utilize the men and machinery available with Corporation for maintaining proper sanitation conditions within the limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation. He also directed the Health Officer to maintain proper attendance of sanitation staff so that there can be no laxity in providing proper sanitation to the inhabitants of the different areas of the city. He further stressed upon all the Officers to take sanitation of the City as a challenge and come with a road map on their level so that same is deliberated and action is taken on the actionable points. The Chief Transport Officer was also directed to clear all the collection points well in time and lime be sprayed after lifting the garbage to avoid any kind of foul smell. every ward. Commissioner, JMC reviews the arrangements being made on Muhharam by JMC. Sh. Arvind Kotwal (KAS), Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation reviewed the arrangements being made on Muharram by the Jammu Municipal Corporation. During the course of the meeting, the Health Officer informed that different Associations shall take processions and requested the Jammu Municipal Corporation to extend all possible help as per past practice for smooth conduct of the Muhharam procession. The Commissioner, JMC directed the Health Officer and Chief Transport Officer to lift the garbage, provide better sanitation and clear all the routes as mentioned in the representations of the different Associations. The Executive Engineer (E) was also directed to repair the streets wherever required so that there could no dark zone while taking out procession during night hours. The Chief Transport Officer and AEE (Workshop) were also directed to install water tankies, mobile toilets and also repair gratings respectively on the routes of procession. The Municipal Veterinary Officer, JMC was asked to lift the stray dogs from the routes of the procession to avoid any dog bite incident during procession. The Joint Commissioner (A) directed the Health Officer, Chief Transport Officer and Executive Engineer (E) to visit all the spots personally and take stock of arrangements are being made by the Jammu Municipal Corporation. The Commissioner further asked all the concerned Officers of JMC to take action as per the directions issued by him and also submit the Action Taken Report in his office well before stipulated time frame. Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign continues Jammu Municipal Corporation organized awareness cum cleanliness drive at Durga Nagar, Bantalab Ward No. 64 under Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign in association with Durga Nagar welfare committee (RWA). The awareness campaign was held at Durga Mandir, Durga Nagar in which about 200 to 300 people of that locality participated. First of all the members of RWA welcomed Sh. Arvind Kotwal, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation as well as other officers of JMC who accompanied him. Live Demonstration of source segregation of organic and inorganic waste was given by the Municipal Officers. The awareness was given to the gathering to put organic waste in the green dustbins and inorganic in blue dustbins. Besides this, procedure to convert the organic waste into compost was also demonstrated. It was also put into the knowledge of gathering that inorganic waste can be sold to the Kawariwalas so that it could be recycled. The Commissioner, JMC also requested the General Public to not use Polythene Bags for day to day activities because it is a health hazard. The RWA appreciated the municipal officers for their valuable information regarding this. The association also assured that they will follow the procedure in practical so that the waste generated is minimized. They also assured that they will not use the polythene in future. After the awareness programme a cleanliness drive in the adjoining areas was launched by the officers of JMC, members of RWA and scavenging staff of Municipal Corporation Jammu. The Plogging was also done by the officers of JMC and the members of RWA. The other officers present during this programme were Sunaina Sharma, Secretary, JMC, Sh. Prem Singh Chib, Asstt. Commissioner Revenue, JMC, Dr. Saleem Khan, Health Officer, JMC, Dr. Zaffer Iqbal, Municipal Veterinary Officer, JMC, AEE Transport, AEE Mechanical, Sanitation Officers and other staff of JMC. The RWA office bearers present during the programme were Sh. Roshan Lal Raina, President, Sh. M. L. Pandita, Vice President, Sh. Behari Lal, General Secretary, Sh. Makhan Lal, Satish Ji and others. Massive Cleanliness drive launched under Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign Today on 24/09/2018 Sh. Arvind Kotwal, Commissioner Jammu MunicipalCorporation launched massive cleanliness drive at Sabzi Mandi Parade Ground Jammu under Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign in collaboration with office bearers of Sabzi Mandi association. About 150 people participated in the drive. The officers, market association and Safaikaramcharies took active part in the cleanliness drive and dumped the garbage for transportation. AEE Transport deployed additional men and machinery to clear all the garbage lying in the area. While speaking after the drive Commissioner JMC advised the people to spread the message of cleanliness among the masses. He also appealed to cooperate with Jammu Municipal Corporation in keeping Jammu Clean & Green and avoid using polythene carry bags, use dustbins/containers installed in their area for throwing garbage for the grand success of Swachh Bharat Mission an initiative taken by the Hon ble Prime Minister of India. Sh. Subash President Market association Sabzi mandi ensured that they will extend full cooperation to Jammu Municipal Corporation to make the city clean and green and also appeal their counterpart no to use the polythene carry bag as it is health hazard and also polluting the environment. He also requested the JMC authorities to launched these kinds of drive in future also for the awareness of people. JMC organizes Pledge Taking Ceremony and cleanliness drive under Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign at Town Hall Complex. Under Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign, Jammu Municipal Corporation organized pledge taking ceremony and cleanliness drive in the Town Hall Complex, Jammu wherein Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Sh. Arvind Kotwal (KAS), other Officers as well as employees of different sections of the Corporation took part. During the occasion pledge was taken to improve the sanitation scenario in the City. While speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner, JMC called upon all the officers and employees of the Corporation to take sanitation of the City as a challenge. He stressed that since charity begins at home and the Town Hall being the workplace, it is duty of all to keep the premises clean and also sought co-operation of citizens of different areas, so that better sanitation facilities could be provided, as it is the duty of every resident to come forward and extend their helping hands to Jammu Municipal Corporation in improving the sanitation. After pledge taking ceremony, Commissioner, JMC alongwith others Officers and staff of the Corporation cleaned the whole area of Town Hall complex as well as Neta Ji Subash Chander Bose Park. He further stated that under Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign, Jammu Municipal Corporation is organizing different activities for creating awareness among the general masses that how to keep their surroundings neat and clean. The main motto of celebrating of Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign is to achieve the goal of Swachh Bharat Mission an initiative taken by the Hon ble Prime Minister of India and also to educate the people that how they can maintain proper sanitation and hygiene in their respective areas. JMC organizes Workshop on waste management under Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign. Under Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign, Jammu Municipal Corporation organized a Workshop on Solid Waste Management in the Conference Hall of Jammu Municipal Corporation wherein the representatives of different Welfare Associations from various wards of Jammu were participated. Audio visual presentations and power point presentations were made to the audience which showed the best practices of waste management and drove home the point of the responsibility of citizens in managing and segregating the waste in their households. Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Municipal Veterinary Officer gave a practical demonstration on Solid Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) wherein it was apprised that how to manage the household waste by keeping two colour dustbins (Blue and Green) for dry and wet waste. He also demonstrated the methods by which bio degradable and non bio degradable waste could be separated and how the organic waste could be turned into compost for the home lawns. The Representatives of the welfare associations appreciated the information and awareness shared by the corporation. This was followed by a question answer session and brain storming wherein the representatives gave their suggestions and highlighted problems of cleanliness in Jammu city. Sh. Arvind Kotwal (KAS), Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation while speaking on the occasion stated that Hon ble Prime Minister of India has started Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign throughout the country for making the nation clean and under the said Campaign, JMC is organizing different activities to educate the common masses for maintaining proper sanitation in and around their respective surroundings as well as to keep the Jammu city clean The motive of organizing the said workshop is to create awareness for effective management of solid waste and participants will play an active role at their individual level for further motivating the residents of their respective areas so that the desired results could be achieved in respect of solid waste management in such a scientific and effective manner. He added that mandate of JMC is to keep the City neat and clean but residents of different areas can play an important role to minimize the burden of JMC by managing the solid waste at their households. JMC organizes Sanitation Drives at Heritage sites and Nukkad Natak under Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign in association with JKTDC and Raghunath Market Association. In continuation to Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign, the Jammu Municipal Corporation undertook sanitation drives for cleaning the Heritage sites viz. Mubarak Mandi Complex and Bahu Fort, Jammu. During the drive, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Sh. Arvind Kotwal (KAS) alongwith others Officers/field staff of the Corporation cleaned the whole area of Mubarak Mandi Complex including Dewan-e- Aam park as well as Bahu Fort upto Kali Mata Temple. In the drive, local residents also joined hands with JMC staff in the cleaning the Heritage and Tourist sites on World Tourism Day. Further, Nukkad Natak was also organized at Raghunath Bazar Chowk in assocaitiion with JKTDC. The Nukkad Natak was presented by volunteers of Meri Pehchan Club (NGO) for creating awareness among the general masses for educating them about the importance of cleanliness which is next to Godliness. The aim of organizing such events is to involve every citizen and let them know about social responsibility in maintaining proper sanitation and hygiene in their respective jurisdictions and also to play an active role at their individual levels for further spreading the message of Swachhata. Earlier JMC, under the campaign, conducted awareness-cum- cleanliness drives at Durga Nagar, Sabzi Mandi, parade and various areas of the City. A special programme on Solid Waste Management and waste segregation was organized wherein all the Resident Welfare Associations representatives were invited and demonstration/power point presentation were given regarding managing and segregating waste at source i.e. household level Commissioner, JMC while addressing the gathering at Raghunath Bazar stated that since it is the mandate of Jammu Municipal Corporation to keep the whole Jammu City neat and clean and for this JMC shall be organizing more sanitation drives, Nukkad Nataks and rallies, painting competition, quiz competition and declamation wherein people from different walks of life including students shall be involved on the theme of Swachhata under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for major participation from every nook and corner in spreading the message of Swachhata Hi Seva. He further added that it is the duty of every citizen to extend their helping hands to JMC in Swachatta Campaign and also play an active role at their individual levels.
