"God calls, and that's what we all see in the vocation of the great leaders. In our tradition, a mission always starts with a calling. As your Grand Knight, I have been elected to provide leadership to our council. Through my example of faith, charity and good judgment, I provide the model for our council members to follow. Through my leadership, I will set a tone that is open and engaging, and that will ensure our council s growth in charitable outreach and membership. The Keys to my Success as your Grand Knight, will be: 1. Earn the Star Council Award. 2. Focus on offering membership and its benefits to all qualified Catholic men and on conducting frequent First Degrees. 3. Set goals, evaluate performance, and plan for the future. 4. Enlist the support of our chaplain and develop working relationships with organizations in the community to ensure membership growth and successful service projects. 5. Share responsibilities. 6. Use council and officer meetings to brainstorm and plan council projects. 7. Generate an atmosphere where all members are welcome and valued. 8. Communicate regularly with all council members. The Star Council Award recognizes those councils that conduct well-rounded service programs (in the areas of Church, community, council, culture of life, family, and youth), while succeeding in membership recruitment and insurance growth. Thriving in these three areas means that our council is successful in meeting Father McGivney s vision for the Order. Membership growth is essential to the success of our council and our Order. With the addition of each new member, our council is better able to serve our Parish, community and our Order. Also, when you offer a man membership in our council, we are giving him the opportunity to grow in his faith through service to God and his neighbor. Each member also gains access to our exclusive, top-rated insurance, providing protection for his family. As I close I pray that we all stay together in our faith, I thank you all for your interest in my leadership, and hope to see you at our meetings, thank all that have served and given their time in the past. Thank you to our past Grand Knight John Kelleher who worked so hard to keep us all together. Thank you John. Fraternally Yours, Elect Grand Knight Gerald (Gerry) Wilczynski Sick List, Remember them in your prayers Marcella Weiss, Sheila Vandamme, Glen Hardy, Richard Edwards Sr., Santino Lupo, Robert Gileghem, Michael Petty, Harry Gorney, William Hannon Fr. THIS IS MY BODY (51st in a series) In the year 1899, a man (Gabriel Gargan) was dying a mere skeleton weighing but 78 pounds. His Aunt, who was a nun, took him to Lourdes France. They placed him in the holy waters no effect. Laying dead, they saw the procession of the Blessed Sacrament approaching. The Priest carrying the Sacred Host pronounced benediction over the dead body. The body raised itself to a sitting posture. He got up and started to walk and said he was cured. HOLY FAMILY CIRCLE #981 DAUGHTERS OF ISABELL The D of I State meeting held at the Grand Hotel went well. It was nice to see all the circles and the ladies too. We had good weather. A little cool but just how I like it. We all enjoyed the fun night. We had lots of laughs. We need to figure out a way to get some ladies to join the D of I. So that is what we will be focusing on this year. Hope everyone has a nice 4 th of July and is enjoying the summer so far. See you all on the 6 th of July. May God Bless. Karen Wojcik, Regent RTL Update: Coercive Abortion Prevention Act passes Michigan Senate By a vote of 26-11, the Michigan Senate passed the Coercive Abortion Prevention Act (HB 4787 & 4830) on May 25. All Senate Democrats and Republican Tory Rocca voted no while 26 Republicans voted yes. This legislation now moves to Governor Rick Snyder s desk. CAPA adds to Michigan's current anti-extortion/ coercion provisions by including coercion to abort as a specific crime. It will be illegal to coerce a woman to abort by threatening or actually committing the following actions: physical assault, withdrawing legallyrequired financial support, terminating or otherwise violating a legal contract, and other commons forms of coercion. Governor Snyder signed "the Rape Survivor Child Custody Act" into law on May 3. The bill was added to a broader package of bills on domestic violence that were also signed. The new law empowers women who conceive after being raped and courageously choose to parent their child to limit the rapist's ability to wage a custody battle. The bill was inspired by Shauna's story, one of four stories told in Right to Life of Michigan's compassion project. Shauna was forced to choose between prosecuting her attacker and protecting her daughter. J.Smith, RTL Chairman. Page 3 July 2016

My name is Alarie Jefferson Sr. I was your Captain and now I am your Navigator. I want to take this time to thank you all for allowing me to serve the assembly in this capacity. I am very new at this and I hope with your help and the help of the other officers and first and formost, GOD, I will be able to do the work that so many have done before me. It is my pleasure to serve as your Faithful Navigator and for us to continue to improve and respect one another and the solemnity of the order. A thought that I read in the Columbia that every day, Knights all over the world are given opportunities to make a difference whether through community service, raising money or prayer. We celebrate each and every Knight for his strength, His compassion and his dedication to building a BETTER WORLD. That is right. GOD does let you hit bottom so that you can discover that he is the hard rock at the bottom. So what Dr. Tony Evas said may be true. Sometimes GOD lets you hit rock bottom so that you will discover that he is the rock at the bottom. Thank you TOM. Birthday wishes to the following Sir Knights: D. Carnacchio, J. Gomez PFN, G.
