I Love to Tell the Story 1220 North Chester Street Baltimore, Maryland 21213 Reverend Marshall L. Barnes, Pastor 1 I love to tell the story Of unseen things above, Of Jesus and His glory, Of Jesus and His love; I love to tell the story Because I know tis true, It satisfied my longings As nothing else can do. 2 I love to tell the story - More wonderful it seems Than all the golden fancies Of all our golden dreams; I love to tell the story - It did so much for me, And that is just the reason I tell it now to thee. 3 I love to tell the story - Tis pleasant to repeat What seems, each time I tell it, More wonderfully sweet; I love to tell the story For some have never heard The message of salvation From God s own holy Word. The Church That Cares 11:00 A M 4 I love to tell the story, For those who know it best Seem hungering and thirsting To hear it like the rest; And when in scenes of glory I sing the new, new song, Twill be the old, old story That I have loved so long.

For: Sunday, October 7, 2018 A Reckless Choice Lesson: Genesis 3:1-13 GOLDEN TEXT: And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. Genesis 3:6 TODAY S AIM: To show how one reckless choice to disobey God caused man to fall from God s favor. INTRODUCING THE LESSON: When it comes to driving a motor vehicle, people can learn all too suddenly that failing to obey the rules of the road can have disastrous results. While many accidents have causes that are beyond the driver s control, far too many occur because the driver thought he could ignore a particular prohibition. Excessive speed, failure to yield, impulsive lane changing, disobedience to the laws against texting while driving these are some of the reckless choices that can lead to tragedy. Our lesson this week keeps us in the Garden of Eden with the first man and woman, and we can learn from their bad decision. Some choices have dire consequences. PRACTICAL POINTS: 1. Real trouble begins when Christians dwell on what God forbids and forget what God provides (Genesis 3:1). 2. Appreciate that God s love limits our freedom for our protection (Genesis 3:2-3). 3. When tempted, remind yourself of God s Word, believe it, and walk away from sin (Genesis 3:4-5). 4. No one can walk by sight and by faith at the same time. Choose faith (Genesis 3:6). 5. Sin produces shame and quilt which destroy the intimacy God desires with His people (Genesis 3:7-10). 6. Honest confession is the first step to reconciliation, not the last resort (Genesis 3:11-13). CONCLUDING THE LESSON: We all have to make several choices every day. We have the power to choose good or evil. The latter will leave us with regrets. Good choices will leave us with a right relationship with God. The choices we make every day also affect all other relationships for good or ill. We learned that the evil one seeks to trick us into taking the easy road. Often the easy road leads us to destruction. Right choices lead us on the path to peace. Sinful choices never lead down the right path. They always cause pain in the end. If we are to see God s blessing, then we have to make godly choices, which lead to life. Sanctuary Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary, Pure and holy, tried and true; With thanksgiving, I ll be a living sanctuary for You. Barnes e.g., death, hospital emergency, etc. The Deacon and Deaconess Ministry The following Deacon and Deaconess are available to assist members of our Church with prayer and offering of a helping hand whenever assistance is needed and subsequently requested: During the period of September 10 through October 14 contact the following: Deacon Luke Montgomery, Sr., 443-629-7297 Deaconess Hilton Patrick, 410-367-0573 Deaconess Norma Pope, 410-532-6174 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Reverend Marshall L.
