Heroes: Samuel, Part 2 1 Samuel 12:16-25 Key Text: As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you (1 Sam. 12:23) Key Thought: God s call for us is to develop a Christ-like character the character of a hero. 1) Intro & Context: Samuel s later years a. Israel asks for a king (chpt. 8) b. Anoints Saul; establishes him as king (chpts. 9-10) c. Samuel rebukes Saul (chpt. 13) d. Aside: Gotta love Jonathan!! (chpts. 14,20) e. Are you actively, prayerfully working on developing a Christ-like character? Where is it programmed into your daily and weekly schedule? Have you established your home to be Christ-centered? Does the fruit of the Spirit flourish in your home and in your hearts?

Prayer Gatherings Each Monday evening at 5:30 p.m. there is a prayer gathering held at Elim. Also, there is a Wednesday morning prayer group meeting in Pastor s office @ 7:00 a.m. You are encouraged to come and pray with the team members and share your requests/praises. Prayer Chain The prayer network is used when special needs arise during the week. TODAY The mission team is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner TODAY, February 5 th following worship. This is a fundraiser for their mission trip to Mexico in March. Everyone is invited!! This year our Chocolate Fantasy Tasting Event & Bake Sale will be held on Saturday, February 11 th. 2:00-4:00 p.m. the theme this year is Read, Relax, and Eat More Chocolate. SIGN LANGUAGE CLASSES BEGIN TODAY Have you ever wondered how to introduce yourself in sign language? How to ask a deaf person how they are doing or tell them that God loves them? On February & March 5 th & 19 th there will be sign language classes here at Elim from 4:00-5:30 p.m. We ll cover some basics, some culture, and also practice some songs/worship God with our hands.
