Teaching Is Your Calling Feasting Curriculum Can Help! Beginning with a solid biblical and theological base for teachers, Feasting on the Word Curriculum is adaptable to various settings and learning styles, inviting learners deeper into the rhythm of the church year. With multiple options for format, age level combinations, and length of study, each session starts from a common, lectionarybased Bible passage for all age levels. This approach, along with our unique resource for pastors and worship planners, Joining the Feast, provides intentional connections between education and worship. Joining the Feast also includes weekly children s bulletins and stories for children during worship. Is it for Your Church? SMALL CHURCHES with average attendance of fewer than fifty people can rest assured that the leaders and learners can access resources for just pennies a week by using the Small Church Plan. MID-SIZE CHURCHES can pick and choose the age levels that are needed. No more wasting money when attendance fluctuates: simply print what you need. LARGE CHURCHES will benefit from the ease of ordering the Total Church Plan. For churches with more than one children s class per age level or more than ten participants per class, simply supplement your order with additional Color Packs and Music CDs.

What You Can Expect Learning Together Everyone explores the same Bible passage each week, making it easy for families to learn and live out their faith together. Children s age levels are enhanced by a supplementary Music CD, creative Color Packs, and a variety of activities to stimulate learning. Additionally, you can choose between downloadable and printed formats. What Makes Us Different? Adaptable It has something for everyone! The preparing for the session is a great in-depth lesson for the teacher, and the lesson plan for the children is flexible so that the teacher can prepare the night before or a couple days in advance. Marla Huse, Sunday School Superintendent Comprehensive In addition to being adaptable to a variety of learning settings and teaching styles, this innovative resource asks four questions for each biblical passage to prepare teachers and shape each lesson. WHAT? WHERE? SO WHAT? NOW WHAT? Basic information about backgrounds and meanings of Scripture is essential to understanding. This section asks What? are the important things to know about the contexts, language, and settings of the biblical passage. To understand the meanings of passages, we also need to ask Where? Where is God in this passage? Where are God s will and activities being expressed? These theological questions about where God s word comes to us in the passage are significant. The implications of the passage for our Christian lives make the biblical passage come alive. We ask, So what? What does this passage mean to me? What does it mean for my relationship with God and other people? Biblical passages shape our understanding of the church and how we live in the world, connecting us to the needs of others and to God s will for us. So we ask, Now what? This prompts us to reflect on how we and the church can live out what the passage is saying. 2 (800) 533-4371 www.pcusastore.com

These young learners are just beginning to figure out the worlds of school and church. Making the most of their love of stories, children will explore God s word in ways that engage their senses, their emerging skills in reading and writing, and their need to learn by doing. What does it mean to belong here? Third- and fourth-graders are growing in their desire to join teams and organizations. Encouraging their love of questions and capitalizing on their desire to feel competent in their academic skills, these older children will use their Bibles to dig into the stories of our faith and learn how to share these stories with others. What difference can Jesus make in my life? Tweens are on a journey from childhood into puberty, growing in reliance on social networks. Engaging their expanding ability to understand abstract imagery and their confidence of interacting with peers, tweens will explore the biblical texts in order to investigate what the church teaches, wrestle with implications of Jesus teachings, and give voice to what they believe. 4 (800) 533-4371 www.pcusastore.com
