THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME 3 Greetings parish family! Third Sunday in Ordinary Time / Tercer Domingo de Tiempo Ordinario This weekend the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops will mark the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade. On January 13, 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation that designates January 22, 1984, and every third Sunday of January as National Sanctity of Human Life Day, referencing January 22, 1973 as the day that the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion on demand in all fifty states. Today, let us pray for the sanctity of all life, including the rights of our most vulnerable in our society - the unborn child and the elderly. Also, today marks the week of prayer for Christian Unity. Let us pray, too, that Christians who share in the love of Jesus Christ may cooperate in building up the City of God with virtuous living and promoting the right to life. In the Gospel today, we hear of the call of discipleship by the Lord. As the Lord passed by the Sea of Galilee, Jesus called Simon, Andrew as well as James and John to follow him and be his disciples. As he called his first disciples, Jesus calls us by name to be his faithful disciples to build up his Church. God bless you always, Fr. Tim Saludos familia parroquial! Dios los bendiga siempre, Padre Tim Thank You! The CCW would like to thank everyone, from those who took time to bake cookies to those who were generous and bought them. Our cookie sale was a great success! One way we can show our love to our brothers and sisters in faith is to generously respond to the Archbishop s request for a pledge to the 2018 Appeal. While much of the Church s ministry takes place in our parishes, we also come together as an archdiocesan Church to carry out critical services and ministries that have impact beyond any one parish. Your support of the Archbishop s Annual Appeal helps bring the spiritual and corporal works of mercy to live in your parish as a part of our overall effort to spread and deepen faith in the Merciful Lord throughout the archdiocese. Through your generous gifts we can continue the work we were called to do as Christians: educate our seminarians, support our retired priests, provide catechesis to our children, and protect the rights of the unborn. Commitment weekend will be February 3rd-4th. Please be generous in your response. For more information, or to donate online, go to appeal.archatl.com.
