These students will attend class each Monday from 4:15-5:30pm just as grades 1-8. We are looking forward to welcoming each new student. You can call the PCRF office at (440)886-5668 for more information. This Sunday afternoon at 2:30, Bishop Roger Gries will visit St Charles to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. There are eightyfive candidates. Students in our Special Education, PCRF, and Day School will receive this Sacrament of Initiation and Maturity. Congratulations to those who will be confirmed and thank you to the teachers and administrators in our many educational programs. Scouting is one of the oldest parish organizations, begun here at St Charles in the 1930 s. Next Sunday, April 26, at the 2:30pm Mass at St John Cathedral, several St Charles Scouts will receive the Pope Pius XII or the Ad Altare Dei religious emblems. Nicole Marko, a St Charles Scout Mom, will receive the prestigious Bronze Pelican Award; it is the highest recognition in the Scout world. Congratulations to the Scouts who will be recognized and thank you to Nicole for her dedication to Scouting. This is the last weekend to purchase tickets for next Saturday s Italian Dinner Extravaganza. Meals will be served during two seatings: 4:30 to 6:15 and again from 6:30 until 8:00pm. Pick the time most convenient for you. It s a great menu. Stop by the Parish Office advance tickets are a must. Tickets (dine-in or take-out) will be available until Wednesday, April 22. Thank you to the current Council officers and members for last Saturday s most successful Town Hall Meeting with the chairpersons of our many parish ministries. Do you have a nomination for Parish Council? This is the last weekend to submit names. You may nominate yourself or another. The term is for three years, 2015 to 2018. Council meets on the second Thursday of the month at 7:45pm. Service on one Council Commission is also expected. Candidates must be at least eighteen years of age and regularly practicing the Catholic Faith. Please check the Nomination Form in this bulletin. Looking ahead, Sunday, May 3 is Polish Constitution Day. Here in Parma s Polish Village there will be a day-long celebration. It all begins with the 10:30am Mass here at St Charles. Father Gary Chmura, born and raised at St John Cantius Parish in Tremont, will be celebrant and homilist. Father Chmura is particularly proud of his Polish heritage. Plan to attend and then spend some time, later in the day, at the many fun-things that will be happening here in the Polish Village neighborhood. The First Mass in the new St Charles Church was celebrated on Easter Sunday, 1955. So this month we celebrate the Sixtieth Anniversary of our church. We thank those who have gone before us: the Founding Thirteen Families of 1923--who built the frame church that served the parish well for over thirty years and for the parishioners of the early 1950 s who sacrificed to build the masonry church that has served us for the last sixty years. We are also grateful to the current generation that keeps our church up-to-date with the times: repair and automation of the three church bells and addition of the carillon (1988), new baptismal area and new exterior doors (1990), air-conditioning (1992), sacristy renovation (1995), marble sanctuary floor (1998), new lighting, insulation, ceiling saints, tile floor (2000), organ restoration and addition of chimes (2002), modernization of church lobbies to gathering spaces, Safety Forces Shrine/Wilber lobby (2006), new lobbies/shrines at cross aisles and two new confessionals (2011), lobby monitor screens (2014).

This book will be the Who, What, Where, When, Why and How of our Congregation. The book is being provided at no cost to our Church, including the mailing to each family, and again is being subsidized by local businesses that advertise in it. If you own or manage a business and would like to find out about advertising in our book, please call the Parish Office (440)884-3030. Recent survey results by Guide Book Publishing show that 92.1% of families would rather patronize a Guide Book & Directory advertiser over a non-advertiser.
