Springtime Greetings to all Lodges & Members By now I am sure we are happy to have seen the last of Old Man Winter. I know my wife and I are. Our (winter-related) car repairs include six new tires, two brake jobs and a front axle. I am sure that others have had similar hardships. Now, as spring begins, it is time to move outside and make our presence known Here are several upcoming events you should be made aware of. The annual trip to the Tomb of the Unknowns in Washington, DC will be on Sunday, May 4. I look forward to seeing you there as it will be my honor to lay a wreath, along with the Grand Patriarch and the RSA President. Saturday, May 17, at 9:00 AM will be the annual Walk N Roll for Children s Specialized Hospital, at Johnson Park in Piscataway, which is the Grand Master s charity for this year. Come out and get some exercise by walking one to five miles (your choice). For those who do not wish to walk, we need The Samaritan 3 A Message from the GRAND MASTER folks to man our table, give out Frisbees, and speak with people about our Order. If you cannot attend, donations will be accepted. Later in May there will be the Hoagie Sale, sponsored by Arthur Baker Encampment. Come and enjoy some good eats. See your local Lodge secretary for more details. Finally, on June 1, we have our annual Charity Bowling event at Nob Hill Lanes in Manalapan. You can bowl yourself, or sponsor a bowler. Will the Grand Master and his Lodge repeat, or will New Brunswick (or any other Lodge) have something to say about that? Will there be any more creative bowling styles displayed? The Grand Master looks forward to meeting many other Lodge members. Come out and support your fellow Lodges. These happenings are more than simply an opportunity for fun. They raise funds for our charities, build support and camaraderie between Lodges, and let other people learn more about us. Let s give them a reason to ask themselves, What s so Odd about helping others? Yours in Friendship, Love, & Truth, Douglas Planer, Grand Master Join hundreds of supporters for the 8th annual Walk n Roll Saturday, May 17th 9am at Johnson Park Violet Drive, Piscataway, NJ and help support Children s Specialized Hospital We re raising money for the nation s largest and best pediatric rehabilitation hospital. With twelve sites in New Jersey, we treat nearly 20,000 children with special needs each year. We invite family, friends and partners of Children s Specialized to come together to walk or roll a 1, 2.5 or 5 mile course while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Johnson Park and the Raritan River. The Walk n Roll is followed by a carnival for young and old, where everyone can enjoy live music, games and prizes and learn about the special needs that our patients at Children s Specialized face each day. New this year: Official Walk n Roll T-shirts will be awarded to individuals who raise $25 or more! To get more information, please call us at (908) 301-5457 or email foundation@childrens-specialized.org.
