Redeemer s Mission: Leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus and the community of faith, offering hope, help and healing in His name. Redeemer s Vision: Connecting to God, connecting to people, connecting to life! Stories Paul Schult, Senior Pastor This summer we have two worship series, the Parables of Jesus and the Miracles of Jesus. The reason I love these so much is because they are great stories. Stories are such a powerful way of communicating. All around us there are great stories. Every body has a story, and every person s life story is unique and beautiful. Something very powerful happens when you listen to someone s story. In May I met a pastor at our district convention. He was from Ethiopia. He told me his story of how he was a leader in the communist party, an atheist. Eventually he became an exile in Saudi Arabia where he met a Christian who shared his story of faith. Tesfai became a Christian, moved to the United States and planted a church in San Francisco. Wow what a story! I was captivated. In June I traveled to Fort Wayne, Indiana to celebrate my parents 60th wedding anniversary. My mom was born and raised in Napoleon, Ohio, my father was born and raised in Merrill, Wisconsin. They met in college in Chicago. They were both school teachers at Bethlehem Lutheran School in Fort Wayne for over 40 years. They are both faithful, hardworking servants of Jesus. What a story! Jesus and his love for you. It s a story about God s faithfulness, God s patience, God s wisdom, God s protection and provision. It s a beautiful story. It s a story about JULY / AUGUST 2018 In This Issue Redeemer School 2 Poland Mission 2 Home and Hope 2 Life Enrichment 3 Member News 3 Redeemer Numbers 4 LWML 5 Calendar July / August 6/ 7 being LOVED by God, and being SENT by God into the world to make a difference for him. Have a great summer. I hope you come back from your summer travels with some great stories! I can t wait to hear them. See you in Church! Pastor Paul Schult Introducing Redeemer s New Logo Every person you encounter on a daily basis has a story. A beautiful, unique, and inspiring story. So don t be afraid to ask people a few questions that help them tell you their story. Questions like this. Did you grow up here? What do you do for a living? Do you have family in the area? Who do you think is a better catcher Yadier or Buster? That s all it takes is a little question and little curiosity. Most people like to tell you their story. By listening you can learn a lot about other people s perspective on life, about why people are the way they are, about a person s struggles and joys. Learning their story can help you understand them, love them, help them, encourage them. You have a story, too a story that is deeply connected to One of the goals this last year was to develop a new logo and brand that represents who we are as Redeemer in our core values and in seeking to be the most relevant church on the Mid-Peninsula: Believe Big Spirit of Joy Culture of Grace A Place to Belong and Be Loved Wisdom from the Past, Vision for the Future Redeemer s mission is to exist to help people find their identity and purpose in Christ: Loved & Sent. All of this is in an effort to grow the kingdom of God.

Thank-you for your generous support of this mission program and please include the team in your prayers as they travel to Poland to spread the Good News! Pictured here, the team is wearing the tie dye t-shirts that the children of Redeemer made at the Experience Poland day camp last March. Thanks, kids! Redeemer Lutheran School New Mascot As announced in the last chapel service of the 2017-18 school year, Redeemer Lutheran School has a new mascot and logo. The school will now be the Lions. 2018-19 School Year Openings You all continue to be our greatest advertisement and recruitment tool. Please spread the word about Redeemer to your friends and associates. We have always been blessed by the families who have come to our school because of your referrals. We have openings all grades except 3rd & 5th. PLEASE HELP US FILL THEM! Guide people to the school website at www.redeemerschool.org for more information. Home and Hope Thank-you to everyone who has volunteered to help host Home and Hope July 29 August 5. There are still openings so check out the sign up at www.redeemerministries.org, and please pray for this program and participant families as they work to transition out of joblessness and homelessness. Also, please pray for guidance in the continuation of this ministry at Redeemer. There is a need for a Redeemer coordinator for future program hosting which has not been filled, and puts the future of having Redeemer participate in this valuable, needed program in peril.
Life Enrichment by Board Member, Virginia Nelson God enables us through Life Enrichment Ministry to enhance our latter years by sharing with others our Christian love and fellowship. There was no luncheon in June but we will have lots of fun at our 4th of July Celebration next month where we will again play BINGO and Clayton will prepare a delicious BBQ lunch and you know how good he is!! Pastor Paul will share some cute jokes with us again. This is another time we have to share our lives and our love for our God who has blessed us so much with these fun times together. Just like last July, we will have our lunch first and then play Bingo. Last year it was a lot of fun. Etta Hansen will call the Bingo numbers again this year, so be prepared to have lots of fun! The Life Enrichment program is your event and Volunteers Needed we try and plan a fun time for us all so if you have any suggestions for these lunches, please let us know. We welcome all your input. So if you can think of anything you would like to see or do, please let us know. Also let us know if you need a ride to any events or if you can give someone a ride; we will try and set that up for you. We also want to remind you that if you have a need for any minor repairs around your house or help in any way, please contact Carole Farnum to see if she can set you up with someone. So hope to see you all next month for more fun and games and remember to bring a friend if you can. May hands make light tasks! Redeemer needs additional volunteers to help with Sunday services and tasks around the church. Training will be provided, and people will work with you to cover your spot if you need to go out of town for a weekend. Contact the church office.
