Confession Of Our Need Of Christ And God s Grace Corporate Confession of Sin Congregation Almighty God, who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ, we humbly acknowledge that we have not lived in a manner worthy of Your redeeming grace. You have raised us up with Christ who is seated at Your right hand. You have commanded us to set our mind on things above and not on the things of earth. Yet we have transgressed Your laws by loving ourselves more than You our God, or our neighbor. We are so easily caught up in the materialism of our day, worshipping the creature and the creation, rather than You, our Creator. Thus, do we forget Your mighty victory over sin and death. Have mercy upon us, O God. Deliver us from immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry. Do not leave us to ourselves but send Your Spirit that we may live above this fallen world, and show forth Your resurrection power. In the exalted name of our risen Savior, we pray. Amen.
Confession Of Our Need Of Christ And God s Grace Cont. The Assurance of God s Pardoning Grace 1 Peter 1: 18-19 Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver and gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without spot or without blemish. *The Chorus of Thanksgiving Spirit of the Living God Spirit of the living God, fall fresh on me; Spirit of the living God, fall fresh on me. Break me! Melt me! Mold me! Fill me! Spirit of the living God, fall fresh on me.

The Means Of Grace Old Testament Scripture Reading 1 Samuel 16: 14-23 Page 239 David receives the Spirit of God, so Saul loses it progressively, with concomitant loss of mental powers. One can well understand Saul s experience in psychological terms. His position was undermined by Samuel s defection, and his anxieties were not unnatural, especially since the Philistines never ceased their hostility. His earlier prophetic trances may have gradually led to emotional breakdown. But, ironically, it is Saul s very disturbance of mind that leads to David s coming to the court. From the New Bible Commentary Congregational Response Gloria Patri No. 735
The Means Of Grace Continued New Testament Scripture Reading 1 Corinthians 16:1-11 Page 962 The contribution is a gift which Paul is arranging from a number of Gentile churches to poverty stricken Jewish Christians in Jerusalem. A year later Paul had to urge the Corinthians to greater efforts but finally their contribution was completed. In vs 2, The first day suggests that Sunday was already the day when Christians met for worship. Paul now confirms his proposed visit to Corinth after travelling through the province of Macedonia. Paul expects to remain in Ephesus until Pentecost (May-June) and possibly to winter at Corinth. *Psalter Singing Psalm 24A See Following Pages Children (ages 4&5) leave for Children s Church The King of Glory We have (vv1-2) the king of creation, but only one pure in heart and suitably qualified by conquest can be ruler of the city the LORD has chosen. The one so qualified is represented as a victorious king who enters the city to make it his own and bless those looking to him, and he has the Divine name. The psalm may have had its origin in the entering of the fortress of Zion by David, but it is not difficult to see Jesus Christ, David s son but also David s Lord, entering the heavenly Jerusalem having secured the victory over sin and death. Oh To See The Dawn (The Power of the Cross) Oh, to see the dawn Of the darkest day; Christ on the road to Calvary. Tried by sinful men, Torn and beaten, then Nailed to a cross of wood. CHORUS: This, the power of the cross: Christ became sin for us; Took the blame, bore the wrath -- We stand forgiven at the cross. Oh, to see the pain Written on Your face, Bearing the awesome weight of sin. Every bitter thought, Every evil deed Crowning Your bloodstained brow. REPEAT CHORUS ABOVE Now the daylight flees; Now the ground beneath Quakes as its Maker bows His head. Curtain torn in two, Dead are raised to life; "Finished!" the victory cry. REPEAT CHORUS ABOVE Oh, to see my name Written in the wounds, For through Your suffering I am free. Death is crushed to death; Life is mine to live, Won through Your selfless love. FINAL CHORUS: This, the power of the cross: Son of God--slain for us What a love! What a cost! We stand forgiven at the cross. WORDS AND MUSIC BY KEITH GETTY AND STUART TOWNEND

EVENING WORSHIP SERVICE There will be NO evening Worship Service tonight. THANK YOU Bevalie and I have appreciated and truly been touched by the many uplifting and encouraging comments, cards, and the meals you have provided as we purchased and began to settle into our new home. Whether it was a delicious meal or actually helping to lift a box, being interested and lifting a prayer or an encouraging word, it s clear that the congregation of Providence is a caring and loving congregation. Two of our children, our youngest two daughters will be joining us here at Providence. Over the next two months we will be moving more of our household goods and family to Clinton. We are blessed that you have opened your hearts and homes to us and we are happy to be here and look forward to working and serving our Lord with you in the days ahead. YOUNG ADULT FELLOWSHIP Wednesday, April the 26th the Young Adult Fellowship (YAF) will be hosting its annual Beignet Night. Last year we had over 100 college students come fellowship over beignets and coffee. We would love for you to help this year by making dough, setting up, tearing down, etc. If you would like to help, please speak to Bryce Davis or Mary Lewis Govero. SYMPATHY Deepest Christian sympathy is extended to Jim and Erin Kate Goode and family in the death of Erin Kate s Grandmother on Thursday, April 6.
