TRINITY CHAPEL S The Lighthouse LET YOUR LIGHT SO SHINE BEFORE MEN MATT 5:16 M AR/APRIL 201 Trinity Chapel s Spring Revival 201 The four gospels of the New Testament present to us the historical account of the life of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, each in their own style, bring to life the greatest life every lived. Matthew speaks of Israel s King, the fulfillment of scripture and promise. M a r k presents Christ as the servant of God and man, tested and found f a i t h f u l. Then there s Luke the beloved physician, and companion of the Apostle P a u l. When the gospel of Luke is considered alongside his second work, the Acts of the Apostles, we see With Paul Michael Booth Starting Sunday, April 21st at 6pm Continuing Monday, April 22nd -Saturday, April 27th At 7 pm something that looks like a legal deposition. Some believe that to be the purpose of Luke s writings, intended for the court at Rome and Paul s defense before Caesar. The last of the Gospels is that of John. He leaves no one with the option of misunderstanding what his message is. Beginning with the first verse of the first chapter, John paints a picture of Jesus Christ as Deity in flesh, God with us. Each writer in his own way, yet under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, shares with us the life and person of Jesus Christ. Some criticize these accounts, suggesting they are not to be trusted because of the variances between them. However, if a fair reading is given, these differences can be easily explained. The so called variances are no more than just the Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord. Psalms 1:24 From the Desk of our Pastor Easy As Pie! Although they don t follow each other word for word, when read together they present to us God s great redemptive plan throughout the life of Jesus Christ. Instead of dwelling on these suppose problems; let us recognize that they were written by four different men, with different purposes for writing. Matthew may include some teachings that are not found in Mark, and there are some things in Mark, that won t be found in the other gospels. The Apostle John speaks of only seven or eight miracles where Matthew and Luke records many more. Let s turn our attention to where the gospels writers speak as one. Why did all four writers give us an account of His death and resurrection, when only one gives us a factual account of His birth? Why? That was His purpose in coming. He came to die. God s holiness demands that sin be dealt with. In Romans 6:2, Paul states that the wages of sin is death. You and I have sinned against the holy God and stand in danger of eternal death. God is holy and will be true to His nature and deal justly with the offense. Sin in our hearts and lives separates us from the God. Jesus came to take our sins upon Him, by taking the sinner s place upon the cross. Thank God, Jesus death satisfied God s holy judgment upon sin. Spotlight on the Ministry: Children s Church Pastor s Desk (continued from page 1) Christ is salvation. Here Matthew, Mark, Luke and John- with one voice- proclaim, at great cost the price has been paid for the redemption of men s souls. These writers present to us Christ in His sufferings; they leave nothing to the imagination. We listen as they described the arrest, trials, cruel mocking, and the hatred of men. These witnesses bring us to the place of the scull, where they nail Him to the cross. For six hours He hung between heaven and earth; suffering; bleeding; dying. Then from the place of His execution, they quickly carry us to a garden outside the walls of the ancient city of Jerusalem. There on the first day of the week, and without embarrassment report to men of every generation, the LORD IS RISEN. They are insisting that we walk down that garden path to the borrowed tomb. Here their recorded events allow us to view what took place that first Easter. Here we see the stone rolled away. Here we find the tomb empty. Here in the midst of confused disciples and fear- filled bystanders, we listen as angels proclaim; Why seek ye the living among the dead, He is not here: The LORD IS RISEN! Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in harmony relate to us the greatest event in all of human history. Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead. Christ is the Victor, and every believer the beneficiary. Pastor Greg Wells It takes a special individual to connect to the heart of a child. We know that Jesus was masterful at coming down to the children s level and treating them with as much love and concern as He gave His disciples. Children are an important part of our congregation! Much too valuable to be overlooked despite how young they might be. Fortunately, we are blessed to have several in our congregation with a talent for working with children. And, Children s Church is such an important ministry that might often be taken for granted. Some might think of Children s Church as a babysitting service so that the adults can hear the sermon unhindered by the commotion of the youngsters. But, that s actually only an added benefit. Ms. Mary Wells & Ms. Brenda Wells are two very loyal and faithful workers who see that these kids can learn about Jesus in a fun environment where they do not have to feel prohibited by controlling their excitement and energy. And, while these two ladies have volunteers to help sometimes, they are to be thanked and recognized for the responsibility of overseeing and providing this ministry as they ve been led. They are planting seeds every Sunday morning...watering those that they planted last fall. The children (6 & under) who attend our Children s Church are learning about the love of Jesus every single week. And, more importantly see it thru their beloved Ms. Mary and Ms. Brenda. Thank you, ladies, for loving & teaching our children! Thank you for sacrificing your opportunity to be spiritually fed on Sunday mornings so that the parents/grandparents can receive God s Word without interruption. You are both huge blessings!
