LET ALL MORTAL FLESH KEEP SILENCE Let all mortal flesh keep silence, and with fear and trembling stand; Ponder nothing earthly-minded, for with blessing in his hand, Christ our God to earth descendeth, our full homage to demand. King of kings, yet born of Mary, as of old on earth he stood, Lord of Lords, in human vesture, in the body and the blood, He will give to all the faithful his own self for heav nly food. Rank on rank the host of heaven spreads its vanguard on the way, As the Light of light descendeth from the realms of endless day, That the pow rs of hell may vanish as the darkness clears away. God gives us a visible sign to confirm his covenant promise, and we respond with faith in him SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM SANCTUARY 9:00 service Beau William, covenant son of Patrick & Noelle Glaze Jacob Junghoon, covenant son of Arden & Gloria Yang 10:45 service Dorothea Pearl, covenant daughter of Shane & Daphne Birdsinger Alexis Ruth, covenant daughter of Stephen & Melissa Simmons 5:15 service David Hutchings, covenant son of Russell & Gracelyn Thomasson We acknowledge our need of forgiveness and renewal through the cleansing blood of Jesus At his feet the six-winged seraph; cherubim with sleepless eye, Veil their faces to the presence, as with ceaseless voice they cry, Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, Lord Most High! You have revealed yourself to us in Scripture, but we have disregarded you and ignored your word. Too often we have asked you to bless what we do rather than seeking to do what you bless. You have called us to pray without ceasing, but we have forgotten to pray. You have called us to remain faithful in all things, yet we have doubted your goodness and care. Forgive us, Lord. By the power of your Holy Spirit, help us to trust in you in all circumstances. Help us to humble ourselves under your mighty and loving hand. Turn our hearts back to you, and remind us of the true gift of grace in Christ as we live in this gap between his first and second coming. In his name we pray, Amen. OFFERTORY I WONDER AS I WANDER Chancel Choir; Jane-Anne Tucker, soprano (Sanctuary) I wonder as I wander out under the sky, How Jesus the Savior did come for to die, For poor orn ry people like you and like I. I wonder as I wander, out under the sky. When Mary birthed Jesus twas in a cow s stall With wise men and farmers and shepherds and all, And high from God s heaven a star s light did fall, And the promise of the ages, they then did recall. God speaks to us through the reading of his word If Jesus had wanted for any wee thing, A star in the sky or a bird on the wing, Or all of God s angels in heaven for to sing, He surely could have it, for he was the King. I wonder as I wander out under the sky, How Jesus the Savior did come for to die, For poor orn ry people like you and like I, I wonder as I wander, out under the sky. Tune: Appalachian Carol, arr. J. J. Niles; 1934 John J. Niles I WILL RISE Congregation (Fellowship Hall) There s a peace I ve come to know, though my heart and flesh may fail. There s an anchor for my soul. I can say, It is well. Prechorus: Jesus has overcome and the grave is overwhelmed. The victory is won, he is risen from the dead. Chorus: And I will rise when he calls my name, no more sorrow, no more pain. I will rise on eagle s wings, before my God fall on my knees and rise. I will rise. There s a day that s drawing near when this darkness breaks to light; And the shadows disappear, and my faith shall be my eyes. Prechorus, Chorus Bridge: And I hear the voice of many angels sing, Worthy is the Lamb! And I hear the cry of ev ry longing heart, Worthy is the Lamb! (repeat) Chorus I will rise!
