Class #6 Introduction The softened heart person sees the unseen more and more, when he s in a study circle, he feels the angels around him, praising him. When he prayers, he feels his sins dropping while in his ruku and sujood. Whereas the hard-hearted person has diverted his feelings to worldly matters I love this food, I hate this food, I love this place, I hate this place, etc don t waste your life on trivial matters, Our feelings are our capital, we need to strive hard against ourselves. We need to know how Allah (swt) will deal with us every action I do, I see the action of Allah (swt). The Quran is full of the way.(سنة هللا ( (swt) of Allah The duniya kills the heart and feelings of the heart until there are no feelings towards the Day of Judgement. The Prophet (ﷺ) warned us to not compete for the duniya, but why are we not frightened from the duniya, rather we love it more, what s stopping us from not listening to him? Subhan Allah. The answer is in Chapter 8. Chapter 8 Surah Fatir :5 ( ي أ ي ہ ا ٱلن اس إ ن و ع د ٱ لل ح ق ف ل ت غر ن كم ٱلح ي وة ٱلد ني ا و ل ي غر ن كم ب ٱ لل ٱلغ رور ) O) mankind! Verily, the Promise of Allâh is true. So let not this present life deceive you, and let not the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allâh) Who s making us to love the duniya? The shaitan. Allah (swt) promised that all of mankind will be resurrected and will be recompensed for what they did in this life. If they did good, they will be rewarded, if they did bad they will be punished. Don t let the life of this world to deceive you and don t let the shaitan to deceive you about Allah (swt), Surah Fatir :6 ( ٱلشي ط ن ل ك م ع د و ف ٱتخ ذ وه ع د و ا إ نم ا ي د ع وا ح زب ه ۥ ل ي ك ون وا م ن أ ص ح ب ٱلسع ي ر (إ ن (Surely, Shaitân (Satan) is an enemy to you, so take (treat) him as an enemy. He only invites his Hizb (followers) that they may become the dwellers of the blazing Fire.) o The shaitan is an enemy to you, so what should you do? Take him as your enemy. Why? Because he will lead people to the blazing fire this is the aim of the shaitan. o Allah s promises are all true. So what do we have to do? We have to prepare for that Day, don t let the duniya deceive you so that you will be occupied with its pleasure. Don t let it take you away from thinking and working for the hereafter. How can the shaitan deceive us? It s through his hidden voice, he will whisper evil thoughts and suggestions in the heart of the son of Adam in order to make him commit a sin and disobey Allah (swt), subhan Allah this is the effect of the shaitan. Will the shaitan whisper once? No waswasa it means he will do it again and again until you follow him. He will press on our weak points until you respond to him this is the way of the shaitan. Page 1
We are very weak in front of the wiswas of the shaitan this is a fact, why? Because we don t know about his plots, though he s using the same plot since our father Adam (as), He s using the same plot with the young and old, but because of our ignorance, we are falling into his trap and deception every time, The shaitan is the one who will take us to the hellfire, may Allah (swt) protect us. Ameen. Our problem is that we don t take the shaitan as our enemy, though Allah (swt) commands us to take him as an enemy. Rather we take him as a friend or consultant, istaghfar Allah. The shaitan comes to each one of us testing us. Each of us has a weak point, he will take that weak point and press it and press it so that we fall into that sin. For example, there are people who are excessively fearful of death because they think it will prevent them from enjoying their worldly life. Whereas, death is the gate between us and Allah (swt), So the shaitan will take this fear, and say don t travel, you ll die, don t eat this food, you ll die, etc until this person becomes paranoid. Or another example, a person might be excessively taking care of her diet, don t eat this, you ll become sick, don t eat this, you ll become fat, then this person doesn t eat so they become sick. The shaitan might come to someone about their wudhu, the shaitan will say you didn t wash your face, and she ll repeat the wudhu, again and again, she ll spend hours in the washroom for a wudhu that takes minutes, He will work on you until he nullifies your deeds. A person might know he s going to a sinful gathering and the shaitan will say, it s ok if you go and then just seek forgiveness after, Allah (swt) is loving, forgiving, etc, This is all from the deception of the shaitan to make the person to commit the sin. Whoever commits a sin, even a minor one, and commits it knowingly that it s a sin, then it s major, he needs to seek repentance, Someone might show some hair from her hijab, saying it s ok, it s just a minor sin, Another example, a person might not be doing deeds sincerely for Allah (swt), so the shaitan will whisper and say there are people around, so perfect your salat, they re watching you, ultimately the person just becomes a machine with the shaitan, istaghfar Allah. Or a person might be doing deeds sincerely, and the shaitan will make him despair and whisper that he s a hypocrite, Ibn `Abbas (ra): I brought water to `Uthman bin `Affan (ra) to perform the ablution while he was (ﷺ) sitting on his seat. He performed the ablution in a perfect way and said, "I saw the Prophet performing the ablution in this place and he performed it in a perfect way and said, "Whoever performs the ablution as I have done this time and then proceeds to the mosque and offers a tworak`at prayer and then sits there (waiting for the compulsory congregational prayers), then all his past sins will be forgiven." The Prophet (ﷺ) further added, "Do not be conceited (thinking that your sins will be forgiven because of your prayer).) Al Bukhari 6433 o A person might say if I perfect my wudhu, go the mosque, and offer two units of prayer, then all my past sins are forgiven, then that s easy, But what did the Prophet (ﷺ) say at the end of the hadith? Don t be conceited. What does that mean? Let s say a person might come to a sinful gathering, and then the shaitan will Page 2
tell him go make wudhu, pray two units and then all your sins are forgiven, this is deception. Who said these two units will be accepted when you know you are committing a sin intentionally, and then you make wudhu and pray and think you will be forgiven? This person needs to repent to Allah (swt) sincerely, then it will be accepted, why? Because he committed a major sin at the end for committing a sin intentionally. Don t belittle a sin, this is disrespecting and dishonoring Allah (swt). Who said what is haram? Allah (swt). If you are belittling the sins, then you re not respecting Allah (swt), you are not giving Allah (swt) His due estimate, That s why a minor sin becomes major thus requiring repentance. Are you not afraid of Allah (swt)? Subhan Allah. o There are people who are truly honoring and respecting Allah (swt) they love Him, and they know they are struggling if they do something or not they are going through a severe struggle inside. Because their faith might be weak and their desire overcomes them, so they commit the sin. But after committing that sin, they feel remorse and sorrow. If this person repents to Allah (swt), then he will be forgiven. You have to distinguish between someone who is bold and commits the sin, and another who is struggling but falls. Allah (swt) knows what s in our hearts you can t deceive Him. If you re deceiving anyone, then you re deceiving yourself, o There are people who know they committed a sin and say afterwards I will ask for forgiveness from Allah (swt), but what happens? Allah (swt) occupies them with themselves and years pass without them repenting, Allah (swt) deals with everyone according to what s in their hearts. The believer in this duniya should be walking with two wings a wing of hope and a wing of fear. The believer is doing good deeds, he s afraid if it s accepted by Allah (swt), but he has hope that Allah (swt) will appreciate the little he does and that Allah (swt) will forgive him. There s a kind of fear that the shaitan casts in the heart of the person, what the signs of this fear from the shaitan? If the shaitan prevents the person from doing good deeds or makes you fall into desperation, then that is from the shaitan. But if the fear pushes you to do good deeds and seek forgiveness, then that is a healthy fear. A person might be in the dawah and is offended by what someone says, then the shaitan will come and say, stop, let them learn a lesson. This is from the shaitan to make the person to stop continuing. What is the best kind of remorse/regret? o It isn t the remorse for missing worldly matters, the real regret is a believer who repents for a sin he committed in the past, and from time and time he remembers that sin he committed in his time of ignorance. Why does Allah (swt) remind you from time and time? Maybe you need to renew your repentance, maybe you didn t do enough good deeds to expiate for that sin, If you renew your repentance, then Allah (swt) will give you more reward. Know that Allah (swt) loves those who repent, o So whenever you remember that sin, repent again, do good deeds, and feel remorse. Don t recall them as good times, istaghfar Allah. We want these sins to be removed Page 3
from our records, we don t want to them to appear on the Day of Judgement, and face Allah (swt) with these sins. May Allah (swt) forgive us. Ameen. How many of us are worshipping Allah (swt) by taking the shaitan as an enemy? Many people know to worship Allah (swt) by prayer, zakat, hajj, etc. But reminding each other of the enmity and plot of the shaitan then this is a type of worship. نس ن ع د و ا مب ين ا ( 53: Surah Al Isra a (And say ) و ق ل ل ع ب اد ى ي ق ول وا ٱلت ى ه ى أ ح س ن إ ن ٱلشي ط ن ي نز غ ب ي ن ہ م إ ن ٱلشي ط ن ك ا ن ل ل to My slaves (i.e. the true believers of Islâmic Monotheism) that they should (only) say those words that are the best. (Because) Shaitân (Satan) verily, sows state of conflict and disagreements among them. Surely, Shaitân (Satan) is to man a plain enemy.) o We have to choose the best words when we speak to people, why? Because the shaitan may sow conflict amongst us. So Allah (swt) is telling us about one of the plots of the shaitan. o Anger is from the shaitan what are we angry for? For worldly matters which doesn t deserve our anger, If you have a friend who s close to you, and you she s having problems with her husband, parents, friends, remind her of the enmity of the shaitan. Because who s sowing enmity between husband and wife, friends, etc? The shaitan. The shaitan is not pleased until people are separated. Who can detect the whispers of the shaitan? The tender hearted person, the true believer. They will immediately say ( باهلل من الشيطان الرجيم (أعوذ I seek refuge in Allah (swt) from the shaitan. They will invoke Allah (swt) to forgive those they have a conflict with. The shaitan is adorning and beautifying the duniya for us. The love of adornment is something natural, so let us adorn our hearts, The cause of pride, envy, greed, all sickness of the heart is the love of the duniya. Let us live for the akhira, which is really worth living, we want to win jennah. How can we purify our hearts? Remind yourself of what we learned in the Chapter of. سمعت رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسلم يقول: "الدنيا ملعونة ملعون ما فيها إل ذكر هللا تعالى وما واله وعالم ا أو ( Hadith: said, (ﷺ) (Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (متعلم ا "The world, with all that it contains, is accursed except for the remembrance of Allah that which pleases Allah; and the religious scholars and seekers of knowledge.") At Tirmidhi Book 13, Hadith 9 Reminder A question was asked for zakat needs to be given for gold that is being worn. If you have gold that you are wearing and it exceeds 85 grams, then you need to give zakat for this. People think that if you have gold jewelry then there is no zakat. Some people might say that I don t have money to pay zakat for that gold. Then you sell some of the gold, and pay the 2.5%. If the husband willingly offers to pay for it, then there is no harm. They (ﷺ) "No." He said: "Then pay its Zakat.") - Jami` at-tirmidhi 637 This is the end of the Tender Heart series. May Allah (swt) forgive us, accept from us and make us true winners on the Day we meet Him. Ameen. Page 5
