So much to do and the time keeps flying by! As you will see in your reading of this months Trestleboard, there will be a lot of activity in Florida Masonry at a State Level. For those of you new to the Craft I encourage you to come to Lodge May 14 th. I, as well as the Wardens, will be carrying YOUR message to the Most Worshipful Grand Master. All Masons in Florida must follow the Masonic Digest and conform by the rules set forth. This allows due process in all manners and functions initiated by and enforced thru Grand Lodge. Essentially it is the constitution of Florida Masonry. Why am I giving you this tidbit of Masonic Education Because WE are the Masonic Digest! Just like our American Constitution, the digest can be Tue 14 th amended as we see fit. These rules and regulations are not the Grand Lodge to arbitrarily pass onto the Lodges but it is the rules and regulations we set upon ourselves. Each year, new legislation is presented and voted on. These new proposals will be discussed in lodge than voted on by YOU the craft. Afterwards, I and the wardens will represent the lodge at Grand Lodge and give the Lodges vote on each topic. May 14 th meeting will be the opportunity for you to rewrite the Digest to reflect your thoughts and beliefs. My Brethren, I assure you that there are topics that you will want to hear and voice your opinion. More importantly, FOR YOU TO VOTE ON! As always, I look forward to seeing you at lodge this month on this important day. Greetings from the West My Brothers, I hope this month s Trestleboard finds you doing well. This May will prove to be a busy one for the Worshipful Master and his Wardens as the annual Grand Lodge Communication takes place in Orlando May 26-28. In preparation for this event, during our first stated meeting our Junior Warden will be reading to the craft legislation that will be voted on at this year s gathering. There will be (17) legislative items to discuss and vote on during our meeting, so please keep this in mind if you plan to put forth your opinions; please be concise and to the point. Since the Grand Communication does not officially end until Tuesday the 28 th, (our official 2 nd stated meeting of the month) we will be dark that night, so no meeting. There is a distinct possibility we will be voting at our first stated meeting on two candidates for the three degrees of Masonry; Messer s Robin Alday and James Goolsby. You may recall we read their petitions at our last stated meeting in March and we are currently awaiting the results of the investigation committee. Damian Ostermeyer Senior Warden From the West Masonic Education While we have heard the term Cowan, many do not realize what it actually means. It is a Masonic specific term. As defined on the Grand Lodge website, a Cowan is an intruder or one who accidentally enters where he is not wanted. A Cowan does not intentionally see or hear something they are not supposed to as opposed to an eavesdropper. It is the duty of the Tyler to keep guard for those who mean to enter the lodge without permission, whether they have dubious intentions or not. The Masonic Medical Research Laboratory (MMRL) is an internationally recognized biomedical research institute. For its size, there are few institutes worldwide whose cutting edge research is as productive and influential in the field of experimental cardiology. In recent years, the MMRL has become an international center for genetic screening of cardiac arrhythmia diseases, especially those contributing to sudden death syndromes including sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). The MMRL is blazing new trails in the development of safe and effective drugs for a trial fibrillation, addressing one of the greatest unmet medical needs facing our society. With its recent inauguration of a Stem Cell Center, the MMRL is making rapid progress in the creation of human models of disease focused on development of innovative therapies and cures. Turn Off Cell Phones in Lodge!! Please respect our lodge and your brothers by turning off your cell phone while in lodge. There will be $5 donation to the charity box if your phone rings during open lodge.
